Yeah, there was a special audio routine, but I've forgotten what it was now. It was in french IIRC and someone had to translate. Maybe it was spanish, I just don't remember now. Why no SL, it works great! You can use the Stellarola (LifeHacker) version which works great if you have a single video card. If you have dual cards you can give my installer a try here:

Its mostly a time thing, a zotac-ion HTPC project fell into my lap for xmas, so that's been my new tinker toy. Now that the usb audio is in the mail though, it probably means there's no excuse for moving to SL.

anyone notice a bunch of broken links at pcwizcomputer/weaksauce? the "show path in finder" under my software looked like something i should have.

Anyone know if a Evga 9600 GT 512 Superclocked is compatible with snow leopard? Like the lifehacker guide.

I plugged my EVGA 9600 GT into my SL lifehacker hack and it seemed to work fine. I didn't test it extensively though.

Any chance someone has a mirror of Kaido leopard soup wiki pages? I'm thinking of upgrading my video card on my ASUS P5N7A-VM hack.

It's pretty outdated, I've been working on fixing it up in my spare time. What kind of card are you looking for?

I built my hackintosh based on the G31M-ES2L mobo and have been using it since last winter/early spring without many/any problems. I'm ready to upgrade to Snow Leopard and was wondering if there's a guide that outlines everything I need to do. I'm currently running 10.5.8.

Thanks for any advice.

This is the one I used recently when I gave my daughter my ES2L. It works well for her.

Well, cut my hair and call me baldy, mohkahn as I live and breathe. Welcome back stranger, how have you been? And truer words were never spoken, Kaido has truly been a huge help and inspiration to us all. Plus you are right on the money with your comments about using different OSes for different things. ;)

vow.. buddy, what happened to the baldy icon.. I kept looking for it, till i realized it was replaced by Linux Penguin or is it just a penguin? you have not converted to OpenSource have you? Yea missed talking to you guys too mates..

I went to my home country to get that wife thing I told you about and now happily married for a month. wish me luck.

so what's cooking these days by Kaido.. Any new sauce.. I feel like i have not used my mac/hack much for work, mostly for updating, and reinstalling the system.. now I have my wedding video in many clips and I don't even know how to attach them, so it can become 1 cd or dvd or just 1 big file.. guess I will have to do some more googling. any advise?

Not much, just my usual uber busy schedule. I'm actually thinking about switching jobs this week (waiting to hear back today!), so I might get my nights free to tinker again :awe:

There is one thing I've lived with that I don't like about my rig. The fan is constantly running. Here's the case I have:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811121004

Any advice on how to make the fan come on only when needed? I would consider upgrading to another case if there's a more compact case that would be a little quieter.

Thanks

Is the fan plugged into the motherboard or into the power supply? One option is you can get an in-line temperature sensor that just relies on the internal air temp to trigger the fan speed, or even a manual control so you can tweak it when you want.

anyone know what kaido uses for video editing on SL? Primiere pro or Final Cut?

I use Final Cut Pro on Leopard. Some of my plugins have problems on Snow, so I'm still on 10.5.8 on my main hard drive. Premier is pretty good, but Final Cut talks to Compressor/Color/Motion/Shake/Soundtrack Pro/DVD Studio Pro really well, which makes things easy, plus it has a TON of great plugins available. Although you still have to use Encore if you want to do Blu-ray authoring, since FCP7 only has basic Blu-ray disc burning available.

Baldy is no more, new forum software, new icon. I've used this little penguin for a long time on most of the forums I am on, so thought might as well use it here as well.

Married for a month!?! Still in honeymoon mode I bet! Congrats and best of luck to you and the new wife.

I just got a 9600 GT in a trade for my 3870. I used uinstaller and installed a nvidia EFI string. Shutdown installed the 9600 rebooted and it won't boot. If I boot with -v I get this:

http://www.pics.bbzzdd.com/beta/users/leglez/IMG_0253.JPG

If I unplug the ethernet and boot with -v I get this:

http://www.pics.bbzzdd.com/beta/users/leglez/IMG_0254.JPG

If I boot into safe mode it also locks up. Only thing I applied with uinstaller was the "Apply EFI String for video card [Custom nVidia].

Should I check anything else if all I am doing is replacing the video card?

You might need to un-install the 3870's drivers.

I tried removing the 3870 driver, but I am not sure if I did it correctly. I did the following:

sudo -s
[enter password when prompted]
nano /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist

Then deleted:

key>device-properties</key>
<string>YOUR LONG EFI STRING HERE</string>

It still locks up on boot up though.
