A woman was attacked in her car in Beit Shemesh Tuesday by ultra-Orthodox extremists - the latest in a series of incidents apparently sparked by what members of the town's Haredi community view as immodest dress.
A crowd of ultra-Orthodox men jumped on 27-year-old Natali Mashiah's car in the Haredi Ramat Beit Shemet Bet neighborhood, she said. Members of the crowd smashed her car windows and punctured her four tires before spilling bleach on the inside of her car, said the Beit Shemesh resident, adding that she believed the men were going to set her on fire. As she fled the car, she said she was hit on the head by a rock thrown from very close range.

what is up with these people? this is 2012, can they not accept it?

The word "stone" is nowhere to be found in the entire article, let alone in the title of the article. I have changed the thread title to that of the cited article.

Original Title: Middle Easterners stone woman for wearing western clothes

Amended Title: [haaretz] Woman in Beit Shemesh attacked by ultra-Orthodox extremists

Please keep your thread titles relevant, failure to do so will bring risk of infraction for flamebaiting in P&N.

Fanatics cross all religions. Only difference here is you won't find the rabid right calling it out and using it as an example to abandon the country, since it's Israel.

This will be where they actually accept it's not the entire religion but only a few radicals.

Yeah but some have more fanaticism than others.

And you would never find SandEagle starting a thread to criticize Islam.
And you will often find a segment of liberals who are happy to generalize about Christians but make accusations of bigotry when defending Islam. So the double-standard goes both ways.

Personally, I think this is bad. At the end of the day though, the good thing about Judiasm compared to almost any other religions is that there is no desire to spread the faith to the four corners of the world. This is in sharp contrast to Islamic extremists who wouldn't hesitate to convert the entire world to their nightmare religion by force. (Queue the comments of Christianity in middle-ages.)

i don't criticize Islam because i dont wanna get my head lopped off :awe:

just pointing out that stoning happens in other religions. i for one, did not know this.....thought it was in islam only.... /shrugg

lol muslim arabs actually do old school stoning to execute a woman = you condone with your silence
when a small group is idiot jews throw a rock at a chick = omg jews are animals kill them all they shouldn't exist

Yet another example of people being stupid under the guise of religion.

Religion needs to be abolished and a new moral system needs to rise from it's carcass.

This has been going on forever, actually, from this one sect, in this one place. I was there twice in the 1980's and the females in our group were told to cover their arms or legs before entering this particular neighborhood or very likely rocks would be thrown at them. "Stoning" may not be the correct word here because this isn't an execution. People are rarely hurt. It is, however, both dangerous and obnoxious. They're loons.

Incidentally this is the same subset of ultra-orthodox who don't recognize or believe in the modern State of Israel.

i didn't write the article. maybe the Haaretz journalists are antisemitics for writing it? :\

cant take a shit these days without being called an antisemite. wtf man

The title is:

Woman in Beit Shemesh attacked by ultra-Orthodox extremists

Nothing close to what you claim.

Personally, I hope they lock them away for a long time...or even better, Banish them to the Gaza Strip.

Judging by what is usualy the OPs favorite subject to post about, I knew this would be about either Israel and/or Jews before even oping the thread. Just for the record though, I think what happened was flat out wrong. None the less, I wonder if the OP has or ever would make threads about NON Jews and/or Israelis doing the same type of thing?

That will just lead to cartels selling holy books by the kilo on the black market, relics smuggled via human orifici across borders, more violence, .etc. 😛

By trying to equate the event in your OP to an actual stoning just does the opposite actually. You have shown the other side of the story to not be as bad in this case. I bet quite a few saw the title and were expecting some women was stoned to death, which wasn't the case.
