Well since you want to go down that road: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RCwapk30bDE This guy made it a point to be near a town to show the crates are bringing down weapons for $5/piece. He could have easily spawned far in the corner of the map and called in the drop and nobody would have gotten to him in time.

There's already a list in this thread of what crates bring down what gear. You have less than 10% chance of receiving a crate with weapons. The people who call in creates out in the middle of nowhere, LIKE THE VIDEO I JUST LINKED, still have to fight for their crates and STILL draw in other players.

You can't even call in crates unless there are at least 150 people on the server.

In an 8KM map.

Yeah, keep whining that it's pay to win, buddy. Nobody who actually plays this game believes you.

Actually the vast majority of people call it what it is - a P2W turd. I even gave it a chance and spent money on it but if this is what SOE has planned, it will fail and degenerate into a contest of whoever can spend the most money to equip themselves and their little buddies. If SOE had removed weapon drops and increased loot respawn + quantity available, it wouldn't be so bad. But given what is in the game right now, if they don't change course, this game's done long term.

Actually the vast majority of people

If by vast majority you mean the vocal minority, I'll give that to you. There were hundreds of thousands of purchases within the first day (with a bajillion more purchases every day) and I only see a tiny few screaming their brainless heads off about pay to win while conveniently ignoring the facts on the matter that prove them wrong.

I even gave it a chance and spent money on it but if this is what SOE has planned, it will fail and degenerate into a contest of whoever can spend the most money to equip themselves and their little buddies. But given what is in the game right now, if they don't change course, this game's done long term.

SOE is increasing loot spawn rates. They've done it four times already. The most recent rate increase happened in an update last night. SOE are listening to their players and making changes accordingly (in more than just loot drop rates).

You have less than a 10% chance of getting weapons in a crate. Basically the same rate at which you will find weapons around the map. Hell, you can even craft weapons yourself. The argument is absurd. Once you find a crowbar, you can get metal EVERYWHERE.

The game is done long term, eh? That's why there are 200+ servers, 90% of which have more than 150 players online 'round the clock, eh? Yeah, that's such a failure of a game.

Don't be angry at this game for no reason or for made-up reasons. If you want to hate the game, fine, but find a rational reason that isn't BS. <3 u, bb.

So you went looting places that had already been looted recently.

boohoo.

You know what? People in this thread are right, you're a fanboi troll. Instead of trying to be helpful, you attack - people like you make a community shit.

I ran around for an hour, to multiple sites, to check for stuff - yet I couldn't find crap. It still doesn't explain how I can't get scrap metal from a sign or appliance.

You need a crowbar to get scrap metal from other objects. You can still find scrap metal laying around if you know where to look.

There's no game ever created that has a flawless loot system. Why can't I rip the wall off of the gas station to build my base? Those kinds of games just don't exist. You have to draw the line somewhere. Right now, every single game in existence where looting crafting materials affords you a situation where part of the level design includes materials that you could use to make your whatever you're trying to make but you can't loot it because it's not an actual object to be looted. It's part of the level. Tough. Deal with it.

It's like you're not even thinking about your objection very deeply.

If the game (or any of these types of games) were built in such a way that you could pick up absolutely everything or dismantle anything and everything you see, the game would be terabytes and the result would be a barren landscape with zero atmosphere and zero setting. There wouldn't BE any gas station to loot through because you would have dismantled it to build your base off in the corner of the map.

Then someone else logs in for the first time a few months after the game is out and complains that there's nothing to loot through.

You can't have your cake and eat it too.

Edit: Oh! Oh! I forgot. 7 Days To Die attempted to do this. Congratulations! I guess you should go play your new favorite game, 7 Days To Die :) I hope you enjoy it.

You are trying too hard. No one will take you serious if you display this kind of attitude.

Well, I've already presented the data in a cordial manner so I've already got that covered. If someone wants to skip over that information because they don't want to read proper arguments against their position, that's fine with me.

What breaks the interest for me is that the devs previously said there will not be any possibility to buy guns, items, etc. Then, upon release, there suddenly is.

That pisses me off.

The guy who said that in the stream has already explained his position and apologized for confusion (which I've quoted in this thread). Why does it piss you off that someone else can spend FIVE DOLLARS for something that they likely won't even get, let alone keep very long? Less than 10% chance to get weapons, STILL have to hunt for ammo because you don't get much in that rare crate that has weapons, and even then nobody's stopping you from crafting weapons on your own to begin with. Guns don't even make you a god. They're loud and attract attention from miles around. It's not like you can't easily use a makeshift bow (not even the wooden bow) to kill a gun-wielder anyway.

I'm sorry that it pisses you off. I really don't understand why anyone could be angry over such a tiny amount of spilt milk. When the game gets released and it's F2P, come play it and see just how hard it is to get weapons from these crates.

And where do I get a crowbar at? Oh, I have to loot it - which I can't find, because multiple little towns, houses or vehicles I've visited have been looted already. So what do I get to do until the next loot timer? Oh I know, I'll go hunting with my ... tree limb! Because I haven't been able to find anything to create my bow with. So I get to go whack a zombie over the head - but alas, out of the 6 or 7 zombies I killed last night, only 1 dropped loot, which I used to create my bow because I finally got something. But I can't kill anything for food.

Look, I'm not saying this game needs to be ezmode or anything, but they need to figure out a way to give some balance for starting players - a knife, crowbar, something. There's no way that someone is going to login and run around for an hour picking berries, sorry.

You need to get off attack mode.

That's right, I forgot. You're the type who expects to spawn with everything you need and not have to hunt for things. Got it.

ezmode is EXACTLY what you're demanding. If everyone and their brother had a crowbar, the entire map would be filled with metal bases and everyone would have guns (nobody would have ammo though lol) and you'd be complaining about that, too.

Starting players don't need any sort of balance. You start with exactly what you need. Pick up a stick, smack a few zombies, get a piece of cloth, make a bow, make arrows. There, now zombies aren't any real threat in small numbers and now you have a way to get more cloth, which leads to building a satchel which means you can carry more stuff. This allows you to carry enough materials to make an animal trap or two and some water bottles which means food is taken care of.

As soon as you find ONE SINGLE SCRAP METAL, you can combine it with a stick and poof, you have a hatchet which means infinite wood which means campfires for cooking and building your base.

Just because you don't yet know how to play the game doesn't mean that the game is broken or that it needs balancing.

It also doesn't justify your personal attacks against someone who stands their ground against bogus FUD about this game.

Edit: Oh, I forgot. You can craft things from materials that aren't even in your inventory, as long as they're close enough to you to show up on the ground on the left side window. Get 4 planks with 1 stick together in 1 spot (you don't need a satchel if you do it this way) and poof, you can make an animal trap.

Congrats, you now have free infinite food that you don't even have to search for.

No, you're just a dick who has no grasp on social discussion or even helping people. I'm done attempting to have any conversation or discussion with you in regards to this game.

Ok, everyone needs to simmer down in here. Please keep things civil and refrain from personal attacks. Stick to discussing the actual game, not the poster(s).

Infractions will be handed out after this warning.

Thank you.

Okay, dougp. I just gave you the entire beginning meta for this game to get food, water, and weapons. What more would you like? I'm a bastion of information and I would be glad to help you overcome your trouble getting started in this game. What other game-specific questions do you have? I'd be happy to answer.

Seems to me there are more things to be pissed about than a small chance to get a weapon in an airdrop.

1) paying for access to an Alpha release when the final product will be free.

2) I'd be more pissed that the devs are making the players create events (which the players have to pay for) with the airdrops.

3) Paying for items that you have very little chance of getting (even if they are random). Even if you do get it, when you die you lose it. If I pay for something, I better get it and get to keep it.

What's this game all about? Is there even sniping in it? It sounds like the maps are big, so there should be some sniping I'd think.

Yes. One of the videos I've posted shows a player using some kind of hunting rifle with a scope attached.

survival. it's a sort of post-zombie apocalypse world. you start with nothing but a flashlight and your clothes. you have to scavenge and/or make tools, weapons, supplies, food/water while avoiding/fighting zombies, dangerous animals, and other players.

you could probably snipe other players if you find/build a suitable weapon.

You don't necessarily have to pay anything to have all of these items.

everything going on with this game is another reason why pay for alpha/early access is a bad idea.

people are paying to play it so i think they mistake it for a finished game.

look at how much bad press this has generated. its going to turn off people already.

would there be this much issue if the game wasn't paid early access or if they waited for like an open beta?

Hmm. Perhaps there is opportunity for some long range noob harvesting.

but there's no point to it. you'll just be killing for killing's sake. its not like they would have anything worth taking.

and how can you call people a noob when you didn't even know anything about the game 40 minutes ago? lol

You don't know that, though. They very well could have a crowbar.

That's just the way it works! Don't injure my brain pride! I have to be right. I'll snipe the crap out of them so hard they'll uninstall that stupid game.
