Well since you want to go down that road: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RCwapk30bDE This guy made it a point to be near a town to show the crates are bringing down weapons for $5/piece. He could have easily spawned far in the corner of the map and called in the drop and nobody would have gotten to him in time.

There's already a list in this thread of what crates bring down what gear. You have less than 10% chance of receiving a crate with weapons. The people who call in creates out in the middle of nowhere, LIKE THE VIDEO I JUST LINKED, still have to fight for their crates and STILL draw in other players.
You can't even call in crates unless there are at least 150 people on the server.
In an 8KM map.
Yeah, keep whining that it's pay to win, buddy. Nobody who actually plays this game believes you.
Actually the vast majority of people
call it what it is - a P2W turd. I even gave it a chance and spent money on it but if this is what SOE has planned, it will fail and degenerate into a contest of whoever can spend the most money to equip themselves and their little buddies. If SOE had removed weapon drops and increased loot respawn + quantity available, it wouldn't be so bad. But given what is in the game right now, if they don't change course, this game's done long term.
So you went looting places that had already been looted recently.
boohoo.
I ran around for an hour, to multiple sites, to check for stuff - yet I couldn't find crap. It still doesn't explain how I can't get scrap metal from a sign or appliance.
You are trying too hard. No one will take you serious if you display this kind of attitude.
What breaks the interest for me is that the devs previously said there will not be any possibility to buy guns, items, etc. Then, upon release, there suddenly is.
That pisses me off.
You need a crowbar to get scrap metal from other objects. You can still find scrap metal laying around if you know where to look.
There's no game ever created that has a flawless loot system. Why can't I rip the wall off of the gas station to build my base? Those kinds of games just don't exist. You have to draw the line somewhere. Right now, every single game in existence where looting crafting materials affords you a situation where part of the level design includes materials that you could use to make your whatever you're trying to make but you can't loot it because it's not an actual object to be looted. It's part of the level. Tough. Deal with it.
It's like you're not even thinking about your objection very deeply.
If the game (or any of these types of games) were built in such a way that you could pick up absolutely everything or dismantle anything and everything you see, the game would be terabytes and the result would be a barren landscape with zero atmosphere and zero setting. There wouldn't BE any gas station to loot through because you would have dismantled it to build your base off in the corner of the map.
Then someone else logs in for the first time a few months after the game is out and complains that there's nothing to loot through.
You can't have your cake and eat it too.
And where do I get a crowbar at? Oh, I have to loot it - which I can't find, because multiple little towns, houses or vehicles I've visited have been looted already. So what do I get to do until the next loot timer? Oh I know, I'll go hunting with my ... tree limb! Because I haven't been able to find anything to create my bow with. So I get to go whack a zombie over the head - but alas, out of the 6 or 7 zombies I killed last night, only 1 dropped loot, which I used to create my bow because I finally got something. But I can't kill anything for food.
Look, I'm not saying this game needs to be ezmode or anything, but they need to figure out a way to give some balance for starting players - a knife, crowbar, something. There's no way that someone is going to login and run around for an hour picking berries, sorry.
You need to get off attack mode.
That's right, I forgot. You're the type who expects to spawn with everything you need and not have to hunt for things. Got it.
ezmode is EXACTLY what you're demanding. If everyone and their brother had a crowbar, the entire map would be filled with metal bases and everyone would have guns (nobody would have ammo though lol) and you'd be complaining about that, too.
Starting players don't need any sort of balance. You start with exactly what you need. Pick up a stick, smack a few zombies, get a piece of cloth, make a bow, make arrows. There, now zombies aren't any real threat in small numbers and now you have a way to get more cloth, which leads to building a satchel which means you can carry more stuff. This allows you to carry enough materials to make an animal trap or two and some water bottles which means food is taken care of.
As soon as you find ONE SINGLE SCRAP METAL, you can combine it with a stick and poof, you have a hatchet which means infinite wood which means campfires for cooking and building your base.
Just because you don't yet know how to play the game doesn't mean that the game is broken or that it needs balancing.
It also doesn't justify your personal attacks against someone who stands their ground against bogus FUD about this game.

What's this game all about? Is there even sniping in it? It sounds like the maps are big, so there should be some sniping I'd think.

2) I'd be more pissed that the devs are making the players create events (which the players have to pay for) with the airdrops.
Yes. One of the videos I've posted shows a player using some kind of hunting rifle with a scope attached.
Hmm. Perhaps there is opportunity for some long range noob harvesting.

but there's no point to it. you'll just be killing for killing's sake. its not like they would have anything worth taking.
and how can you call people a noob when you didn't even know anything about the game 40 minutes ago? lol
