Not impressed with the game so far, but it looks like they are really trying to address gameplay issues and community feedback. I'm hopeful it'll be fun when it's "released". Also, someone needs an SOE logo here.

Snares already exist, with scrap metal and metal shard. They're basically bear traps that snag whatever steps on them.

The animal traps, as of now, are cheesy in that they generate meat every 2-3 minutes. They simply snap closed whenever the timer is up and you can take out a steak.

There needs to be requirements, like the trap not working at all if someone comes within 100m of it for like 5 minutes or something.

As it stands, people are building bases and loading up the base with traps inside that automagically generate meat so they don't have to forage for food. The smart players are building their base around wells, too, so they don't have to scavenge for water, either.

You can't?? Since when?

so you've already forgotten everything you've said in this thread?

ThinClient said:
What's the point of any PVP game at all? This is survival PVP. The entire point of the game is to KILL EVERYTHING THAT MOVES lol.

You're meant to survive against zombies, against dehydration and starvation... against other survivors.

Any other player who's running around looking for loot is in direct competition with your survival. They're looking for tools which you should have instead. They're looking for food that you should consume, not them.

Other players are the biggest threat to your survival in this SURVIVAL game.

Yeah, I'll excuse myself from this thread. Call me when we can have a reasonable discussion without attacks by a single person.

Clearly, the post you quoted was an attitude for players not playing in a group.

I won't pretend that you don't know that.
That was your reply to my post about people griefing others in this type of game, especially people who just spawned and have nothing. They just do it to ruin other player's enjoyment.

Griefing had nothing to do with pvp.

Griefing has everything to do with PVP, considering that it's, like, a sub category of PVP. Whether or not you like it or do it or approve of it or acknowledge it or whine about it is irrelevant.

So, after like 15 or 16 hours down, servers are back up. Some serious bug found during the loot container fix that hadn't presented until now. Devs have been working serious overtime.

Now that the servers are back up, people are finding guns all over the place. LOL :awe:

Loot respawn is dynamic, based on server population, using a heat map. Cool.

Ammo is still crazy rare though.

That's an issue I am having- at some point every well in the game will be surrounded by walls and a locked door so there will be no source of water available for everyone else. Or can you fill up water bottles in the river yet? Loot was so broken it took me 3 days to find my first empty bottle!

the last patch notes that were posted mentioned door durability, so i assume you can destroy doors (and maybe walls?) that people build?

You could fill water bottles in the river two days after the game was released.

Yep!! It was actually pretty easy to bust down wooden doors. Now they're a bit more beefy and now there are metal doors, too.

So, I found an empty shotgun (all weapons are empty when you find them).

I ran around until I found some poor sap who must have just spawned. I pulled out the shotgun and threatened to shoot his face off if he didn't give me all his bandages. He dropped his bandages and I let him go.

I didn't have any ammo LOOOOL :awe:

Are all of you playing this on PC or console? I don't even know when it releases for consoles.

I'd like to play something like this but dying light will be out soon and I don't even have a mic for PC. Sounds pretty empty from what I've read on here it also reminds me of the division too.

Empty? o_O  When servers almost always have 150+ players crammed into an 8km square map? Servers are so full this morning that there was a queue for most of them.

Sure, empty if all you ever do is run around the forest and make an effort to avoid anything and everything that a player would go to in search of equipment.

Seriously, empty? No. FUD.

I can't imagine anyone making a legitimate argument that the game feels empty unless they're the same kind of idiots screaming about airdrops being pay to win.

Could you explain the loot respawn a bit more? The more people in an area the faster stuff will respawn or is it the reverse?

maybe, but loot was so broken I couldnt find a bottle! I see that they finally fixed loot in containers yesterday though so hopefully it'll go better.

In 8 hours of playtime I have been able to loot:
1 helmet
1 backpack
2 empty water bottles
1 full water bottle
1 can of beans (which weights 100 so I had to empty my belt to carry that thing)

I'm hoping the next time I play I'll be able to find more in containers, pretty excited.

And ThinClient, if you have played State of Decay you should agree the world is pretty empty. As soon as you set off from the roads there is nothing to be found. I hope when they make the map larger or add to the game we'll see some cabins in the wood, old shacks, abandoned houses, etc.

This made me laugh pretty good. :awe:

I've not played State of Decay and it's entirely irrelevant. The world is SUPPOSED to have some level of emptiness. It's post-apocalyptic. This isn't Planetside 2. This is a zombie horror survival game that's intended to make you feel alone and on your own as a scrounging survivor. Naturally, the areas with the most goods are going to attract the most number of players. Big cities like Cranberry are chock full of players. They're a constant hotbed of PVP.

Besides, if there's no big open areas, where are players going to BUILD BASES? You didn't think this out too well, did you :D

Simply untrue about not finding things off the roads. There are many MANY camp sites and log cabins and stuff to find off the roads.

It sounds like you just don't know where to look and haven't spent much time trying to find out.

Here, check out this map. I'll link it again so you don't have to wander around learning the map.

So...is this worth grabbing now, or should I wait until it's a bit more mature?

Wondering the same. Watched some streams and it consists of a lot of running around, makes sense though. There also seem to be no map, the streamer I watched was using one on his browser.

Would be cool if it was more player friendly but that all depends who you play with. I'd like to have a mic for the PC if I do play which is why I'd rather play on console. It does look interesting. Will it be $20 all throughout or is that going to increase when its final? I'm actually looking forward to dying light and have been watching day z but this seems better than day z.
