The Anti-morons want to ban things because they look scary.

Anti-gun people are hypocrits plain and simple. The lead by emotion and not logic and reason.
You must be even stupider than the anti-gun people you rail against, with your idiotic strawman about guns 'looking scary'. Who actually argues this way, specifically? You got even a single source at all for that?

You speak of logic, yet even with all the guns you americans have right now you still have one of the most violent societies with some of the highest murder rates in the industrialized western world. Where's the logic in that, pray tell?

But perhaps the solution is even MORE guns for you americans... That way, eventually all of you crazyheads will shoot each other, and we'll be rid of you. Finally, peace on earth! :D

45 acp of course

also to a post above, most people I've encountered that are anti-firearms have never even been around one.

btw just watched the CNBC video... they jam easy? ROFL dude obviously knows NOTHING about the AK47...

1. 45 is a good round. Hell, 9mm, 357sig, 40, and 45 are all great rounds. Each have their own advantages/disadvantages.

2. Yep. I know 2 die-hard gun haters and neither have ever touched a gun. $5 says their opinions would change if they fired one.

3. Yeah that video is great. They are so unreliable...and jam so fucking often that our military uses them. lol what a dolt.

<insert typical gun hating FUD>

You do know that criminals do not follow laws, right? So, by making guns illegal, only law abiding citizens would suffer, the criminals would still have them. Much like drugs...

Yeah the AK47 is terrible it jams so much that it's NOT the weapon of choice for most militaries around the world. In fact it's so unpopular that it's never even been used in a war, especially against the USA. And tore through a Police car? Obviously he's lying, they were designed to take out tanks! That police car shouldn't even of existed after it was hit by that ak 47

The Assault Weapons Ban was based mainly on cosmetic features that had nothing to do with how the gun functioned. And many proposed control laws are all about how the gun looks, NOT it's function. Not to mention the 5 "funny" gun control states, the banned weapons are all because of cosmetic features like a pistol grip.

aka - control/ban it because it looked scary.

This man speaks the truth. An example of cosmetic feature that has nothing to do with the functioning of the firearm is a fixed stock. Extendable stocks are scary, so many blue states banned them.

Extendable stock...THE GUN IS GROWING...AHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111111

Check out how scary it is!

AR15_A3_Tactical_Carbine.jpg

Now look how un-menacing the fixed stock is.

No, they don't directly say scary, the laws are largely against cosmetic features, driven by fear and ignorance.

We also have one of the most diverse populations in the Western world. Yes the last time the world economy really took a shit the world was a much happier peaceful place. Some people cant see past their own nose.

The AK47 is a cheap durable gun that is perfect for drafted low skill and not well funded armies.

So here's what makes an "Assualt Rifle," at least according to ignorant liberals.

Semi-automatic rifles able to accept detachable magazines and two or more of the following:
* Folding or telescoping stock
* Pistol grip
* Bayonet mount
* Flash suppressor, or threaded barrel designed to accommodate one
* Grenade launcher (more precisely, a muzzle device which enables the launching or firing of rifle grenades)

I can see the dangers of a bayonet mount. All those drive by stabbings.

The point though - which you missed, either by mistake or on purpose - was that you actually have guns RIGHT NOW. You can have pretty much all the guns you could possibly want, and as evidenced by in-line images in this here thread, LOTS more guns than you have hands to carry them with - and despite all your guns, you still also have lots of criminals.

So apparantly, guns are not an effective deterrent to criminals, just as the death penalty doesn't really deter murderers.

So guns aren't really the solution to crime. You're statistically more likely to shoot your spouse and/or offspring in a domestic dispute, have your kids accidentally shooting each other while playing, suicide or go postal in your workplace with your legally owned firearms than you are shooting any criminals with them...

But it's a nice comfort blanket for you I suppose.

Thats actually not true. Its been proven to be FUD by anti-gun nuts.

http://www.justfacts.com/guncontrol.asp#Crime%20and Self Defense

"Americans use firearms to defend themselves from criminals at least 764,000 times a year."

"In 1982, a survey of imprisoned criminals found that 34% of them had been "scared off, shot at, wounded or captured by an armed victim."

* Washington D.C. enacted a virtual ban on handguns in 1976. Between 1976 and 1991, Washington D.C.'s homicide rate rose 200%, while the U.S. rate rose 12%.

Florida adopted a right-to-carry law in 1987. Between 1987 and 1996, these changes occurred:

Florida

homicide rate

-36%

firearm homicide rate

-37%

handgun homicide rate

-41%

But I'm sure you will just put your head in the sand and not look at any of those pesky facts.

Guns protect life, liberty and property. One only needs to look at the la riots, Katrina, or haiti to see the evidence of this.

Except, of course, that our violence and crime rates have been plummeting for decades while more and more states adopt more open firearm rules, while other nations with strict or total gun control have skyrocketing crime and violence rates. Then there's the nations with fairly high gun ownership but nearly non-existent crime and violence.

In other words, you've drawn a false conclusion and misrepresented the actual facts.

My guns bigger!

I don't see much point to owning things like Car-15s, ect since you can't even hunt with them...but, myeh, whatever.

I draw the line at automagic weapons, though anyone with rudimentary understanding of firearms can make a lot of semi-automatics automagic.

I think background checks are reasonable, so long as they don't take months. Maybe 3 weeks at the high end, 10 days at the low end. Gun safety courses should be available...I'm not sure if I'd prefer them to be mandated or not. Probably not, but maybe offering free courses once a week or something to encourage participation.

I'd prefer a pistol for home defense...namely a Glock 22.

Isn't that an M203 on the bottom of the bottom AR15? That's what scares me in that picture :p If I had a choice of a rifle to own I'd go with an M-14. It's just such a sexy gun. Got to hold an M60 and M240 when I was in ROTC...that was fun.

Who says you can't hunt with carbines? I'm aware that some states have laws prohibiting the use of calibers below .24 in size, but a .223 in semi-auto makes a fine hunting implement for people who can shoot (and where it's legal). Might not be my first choice for hunting deer in the thick as hell Maine woods, but when it's time to drop some coyotes or wild dogs a Bushmaster won't let you down. Remember too that you can get military style rifles chambered in non-military calibers as well, which makes the option even more appetizing for those of us who don't demand walnut adornment on guns, or who want something that is relatively easy to break down and clean.

Good to see all the 870 appreciation here. Probably my favorite firearm. It ALWAYS goes bang.
