Uh... it can almost consistently keep up with 675MHz GTX 460.

Now that's a stinker :(

For $149 that is.

it looks to have a 12% lead overall over the 460. not much progress but really about par for the course for this gen of cards.

It would make an awesome $99 card. It would even make a decent $129 card. $149 seems a shade high imho, but launch prices don't always stick.

I can imagine that used 6950s aren't too hard to find $150ish in the 1GB models, which unless you just had a really weak PSU would usually make more sense than this 650ti creature.

It looks like it performs exactly between an hd7770 and an hd7850, so therefore it should be priced right in between those two cards.

I don't know about "exactly between," as it looks closer to a 7770 than a 7850, especially when you factor in the 7850's mammoth oc headroom, but we also don't know how well the 650Ti oc's (the oc in the chart could be conservative--or not), so I will reserve judgment until more reviews come out.

I'm a bit disappointed but considering it's up against the 7770 it's not so bad. The right price would be 130$.

I will wait for more tests to make a final conclusion but,
looking at those results, it's a pretty decent card, much better than the 550 Ti...
so it's great as a 7770+ competitor, but not so great when you consider the 7850... it's up to nvidia to make it a great or bad card according to what they ask for this card... with the 7850 1GB for $160... this better be around 120 or less.

I was expecting a little bit more, but I guess it's really paying the price for the 16ROPs and 128bit memory bus.

Much as I expected. The 650 Ti slots in squarely between the 7770 and the 7850. It never loses to the 7770, but it just barely squeaks by sometimes. It does lose numerous times to the 6870 and even a few times to the 6850. IMO considering the pricing of cards surrounding it, $150 actually doesn't seem too bad. The moment the 1 GB 7850 comes down in price though the 650 Ti needs to drop as well; it just can't compete.

HD 7850 1 GB is selling for USD 160 - 170 after mail in rebate at newegg.

The performance scaling of HD 7850 with overclocking is brilliant because of a full 256 bit memory system with 32 ROPs. GK106 sucks with performance scaling and is even more hit by Nvidia's power target restrictions.

http://www.hardocp.com/article/2012/09/19/asus_geforce_gtx_660_directcu_ii_overclocking_review/

HD 7850 at 1.2+ Ghz matches a GTX 580 and will beat a GTX 660 overclocked to the max clocks possible. Nvidia's only good chip is the GK104. the rest of their line up GK106 and GK107 sucks.

Yes, but that's the MIR prices, not the suggested retail price. Manufacturers are free to offer rebates on the 650 Ti just like the 7850.

What I meant to say is the HD 7850 can keep up with the GTX 660 while costing just a little bit more than GTX 650 Ti. If Nvidia prices the GTX 650 Ti at 130 bucks it would be a good deal. But knowing Nvidia they won't as they are the dominant brand and industry leader.

Yeah, I know, Nvidia will always have those people who like the color green when it comes to graphics. Those kinds of people that probably paid as much for a GT 640 as they could have for a 7770...

Cheapest 1GB 7850 models range from 164 to 180 on newegg. 2GB model starts at 184. I'm not sure why you highlighted the 7850. Do you know what the launch MSRP is on the 650Ti? Maybe you should have highlighted the (and perhaps added LOL ) 7770 instead? Or 6870?

The 650 TI would be a great card @ $129, but anything more is a joke. Save for a really Hot Deal, my next card will be an AMD.

Consider me mildly impressed. Remember when the HD7770 was launched at $160 and offered slower performance than a $120 GTX460? That was a joke. In fact, even today it's only an acceptable option because the GTX460 is no longer available and the HD6850 has gone up in price.

At $150, the GTX650Ti would offer a legitimate alternative to the GTX560, which sells for about the same price. No, it's not moving price/performance forward, but performance/watt is considerably better.

Keep in mind that I've been recommending the HD6870 to everyone shopping in the $100-$200 price bracket for the past year. I suspected that the current generation of GPUs would not offer anything more in terms of price/performance in 2012, and I have been proven correct. You could get the HD6870 for under $140 6 months ago - it's gone up in price now, so the newly-cheap HD7850 1GB may finally take over the price/performance lead, but the 650Ti is doing no worse than any of the other failed mid-level cards of this generation.

Keys, we already know it's $149; not only does it fit the rumors, but that's the price Newegg listed the stock clocked Galaxy model at last week.:p

Eh, what? This thing barely beats the 7770 that got released 8 months ago and suddenly Nvidia now has a winner because it beats the 7770 at the then absurd launch pricing instead of the current pricing...Wow, your logic is astounding.
