I hear that ASUS and MSI cards and maybe some others, do the warranty by serial number, not by proof of purchase

But you still have to register the card with them and that's a one time deal better hope the original owner did not register the Warranty to his personal account LOL. XFX has a proper transferable warranty but I have been hearing some static about XfX and there quality of warranty service. Good Idea to stick with one of the all time best quality and customer service and warranty providers EVGA and they have never let me down since my first EVGA card the 6800 GS back in 06 I think 🙂

Cause the Nvidia card can play BF3 better than the Radeon card will.

Well, if I could find a comparison review, I suppose we could see if you have a valid point. It doesn't seem that nVidia sent these to review sites, though. Just saying it's better because it's nVidia, doesn't make your point.

That's not what you initially wrote. This is, and it won't make up for the fact that you can either pay $90 for a used HD6850 or $138 for a new GTX 560 SE that isn't any better but costs 53% more. Even a brand new HD 6850 goes on sale often for about $120 after rebate. You could pay 15% more ($138) for equal performance, or you could simply get the HD 6850 in the first place. HD 7770, GTX 560 vanilla, HD 6870 are also in the same ballpark with various price, speed, wattage, and/or VRAM advantages.

You fail to mention or even realize the Quality of EVGA and there excellent warranty and return policy. Why buy used with no warranty or nothing when for not much more you can get a factory fresh GPU with full Warranty coverage. I am not willing to risk $100 on a used card that has no warranty.

Are you done calling other people failures (good to know you can mind-read, as apparently I don't "even realize the Quality of EVGA and there [sic] excellent warranty and return policy"... despite the fact that I have bought 2 EVGA cards in the past... and damn that Quality must be good in order for you to capitalize it, so good that it's worth paying $18 extra for the same performance...) and trolls simply because they disagree with you and back that up with multiple real-life examples?

I don't own the game personally otherwise I would have included it in this review however BF3 seems to favor Nvidia architecture and I think this is well know maybe not though.

AFAIK, it's only with MSAA. A GPU of the level we are talking (560/6850) wouldn't be a candidate for MSAA. Considering it takes 600/7900 level cards to run MSAA at reasonable FPS.

Good thing I am happy with 16080x1050 ultra fast 2ms response time with excellent color reproduction and blacks. Also I dont mind turning the settings down to "High" to maintain flawless performance and I rather keep my 1050P Ultra high performance monitor over most peoples generic meh performing 1080P screens from the likes of HP,Acer ect. Thanx for the comment 🙂
That's good. You keep on gaming at low res and turning down settings while we, the enthusiasts, buy cards like the 7850 so we can max out our games for maybe $80 extra.

Bin der don daT 🙂 Three screens 2560x1600 30" in eyefynity 4x 7970 of 680s on a 5ghz i7 2600K in this box then you call yourself a true enthusiast otherwise stop trying to act the fool please a 7850 is not impressive but inside this box it would be.

You sure made a great post this time when you claim that a used card with no factory warranty for near enough full retail price of brand new card is a better option than a factory backed brand new one with full warranty no issues or fuss LOL.

Reading comprehension fail. I discussed both new and used multiple times. Even when comparing new vs new, if you want to pay an extra $18 for the same performance then be my guest. The economy could use more people like you. 😎

Oh God no - horrible flashbacks of my starving student days in college! Oh, and O.P., thanks for taking the time to do a review on an entry level gaming card. They do tend to get overlooked and its obvious you took some time with it.

he already owns a 560SE, he did a mini review on it. This whole 6850 thing makes zero sense when whats done is already done. Your jumping his case like you could make a difference but the choice is already made, the card in his PC.

Why are you guys blasting him? People buy all kinds of stuff, even stuff that you yourself might not. If you want to make a difference stand outside Best Buy with a sign or something. Try to catch ppl before they make a purchase. Save the day. But even then you would run in to some people who wont listen. People who want to spend their money on what they want, not what you tell them to.

Here in this thread though you are not saving the day. Your posts are ill in nature. There is a chance that someone out there in the world could find his benchmarks useful. Its his work that he has presented for people interested. If your not interested and you think that the card is irrelevant to you, then why are you crapping on the thread? A thread that is on a card you will never buy.

Why dont you give the guy a break.

Thanx for the good words 🙂 funny most of the trolls that's all they do is complain and act like boss hoss but at the end of day most people get a mid range card like this one I reviewed and are happy with it. There is nothing to be ashamed of owning a middle range card it's a smart decision that takes lots of discipline and in a day and age when debt and credit cards are so easy to rack up or maybe not so much in these times of volatile economic instability and uncertainty being smart and frugal could be a life saver.

I dont get why your here? the 6850 is not 18$ cheaper

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...n=6850&x=0&y=0

most of the cards cost more.

And he had credit where he got his card, he got it based on the credit.

geez sickbeast. you feel better bout yourself now?

you guys really are something else

I'm not saying he should get something different, just pointing out that the card is overpriced and those on the market may want to look at alternatives including new and used HD68xx, HD7770, GTX 560 vanilla in particular. I am not sure why you're jumping to conclusions in accusing me of urging him to swap cards or something. I think you need to re-read the thread if you couldn't even get the above right, before accusing people of "blasting" him. You may think you're "saving" OP but you could just as easily say that those of us pointing out other cards are "saving" readers from poor buying decisions. I am not sure why you are acting so biased given you could go either way on it... it seems your entire justification is to say people are threadcrapping. But isn't the entire point of a forum to discuss things, things including price/perf of alternatives? This forum is a forum, not an advertising site where we aren't allowed to make any critiques. If you're going after the few people who may have been blasting OP, then leave the rest of us out of it instead of lumping us together. Give us a break.

Again, I never said anything about OP's buying decision in his personal circumstances so leave me out of it. If you want to go after other posters fine but you are just proving that you never read my posts carefully, by making this error twice in a row.

RE: 6850s: I talked about 6850s often going on sale for $120 after rebate, which you can see is true just by looking in AT Forums: Hot Deals. I never said anything about the price of a HD6850 at this exact moment in time. Conversely I haven't ever seen sales on GTX 560 SE's for $120 after rebate or less.

Yet more proof you don't even read people's posts before you slam them.

OP, you put a lot of work into your "review" and i am sure that there are people out there that might find it useful. I dont know why there are so many haters, its kinda strange.

I don't know the average age demographic here but I think I might be considered one of the "Senior" member's here at any rate this reminds me of that old song "If I had a million Dollars" by Barebaked Ladies
"If I had a million dollars
We wouldn't have to eat Kraft Dinner/Ramen Noddles
But we would eat Kraft Dinner/Top Ramen Noodles
Of course we would, we’d just eat more
And buy really expensive ketchups with it
That’s right, all the fanciest ke... dijon ketchups!"

i am absolutely sure this thread is on a 560SE. your insisting on a cheaper card or alternatives is truly bizarre. Its nothing to do with what he shouldve or shouldnt have bought. that is pretty clear.

It would now appear that you just want to argue, and argue with me. So let me bring your focus back one more time. Multiple times you have brought up other cards and its the wrong thread for this. This isnt the what should i buy thread. It is a guy who has a card and done a mini review. i know you can comprehend this, but i think your desperate to win an argument or something.

It's a spillover from another thread. He was in there bashing the 7850 and the Powercolor brand. He was also saying that a GTX 480 is better than a 7850.

I'm sorry if I came across too harsh.

We're getting frustrated with Gordon is all. Perhaps you missed the beginning of it all in the other threads.

THREE times in a row now, you are pretending I told OP he should have bought something else. I bolded the relevant portion of your quote.

THREE times in a row now, you are barking up the wrong tree, mister. If you want to go after Boris or Sick or someone else be my guest, but you have made the same mistake THREE times in a row now. I have NEVER said OP should have bought something else as I do not know his personal circumstances, e.g., maybe he got a good deal on this card or is an NV employee or whatever.

I suggest you read posts before making accusations.

As for whether or not we're derailing the thread, that may or may not be the case, but realistically we do not buy cards in a vacuum. Go back and read the GTX 680 review threads for instance, and you will see TONS and TONS of people comparing it to the 7970 and saying how much better of a buy the GTX 680 was at their prices at the time, etc.

If despite this you still feel the thread has been derailed you are free to report it to the mods, but as of now, your opinion is just that--your. opinion.

No I don't want to argue with the likes of you, full of wrongful accusations of what people said, and calling them desperate or whatever. I think I'm going to Ignore you after this actually. I am just setting the record straight against your defamation attempts.
