I was looking at the first impressions "review" on IGN PC today. They said another difference was the dismemberment in the PC version that is not present in the PS2 version.

Any mIRC users out there wanna suggest some servers and channels other than #efnet? After I lost my t3 connection I've been sparsely hitting up mIRC for "other versions" of games/apps, is efnet still the place to go or just a cesspool of crazy fserves?
 
damnit, ive been waiting for like a year to play this game on my PC and I just found ut I gotta work a sixth day tomorrow. Oh well, at least the overtime pay will pay for the game and the new GTS card I bought 😀


BTW, why arent the mods cracking down on these jackholes posting IRC info for the warez version of this game?

Is the real time weather effect still in the game? Was they able to do that with the PC version? I heard the PS2 emotion engine played a part in the weather effects.

how's the system requirements for the game, like are they pretty steep?
 
wow... lots of banning going on in here.

I can't decide if I want to buy this game or SOF 2. I've played GTA3 on PS2, and I've been anticipating SOF 2, so I'll probably pick that up, then get GTA when it goes on sale somewhere in a month or so.
 
yup.. too many games coming out.. including Counter-strike: Condtion Zero.. cant wait for that.. and now that prices for game consoles are in my price range now, looks like ill be broke in no times.. 😛
 
Picked it up yesterday morning from babbage's at the local mall-o-rama, runs good on my p4 2.0. 😀


can anyone tell me how to make it play mp3's? I seen a post earlier in the forum about it playing any mp3, but I'll be darned if I can figure out how. Hopefully it isn't a load all your mp3's into the games mp3 directory, cuz there's no way I'd fit em all on that drive. 🙂

Yep, thats what you gotta do. But then, you can load the directory full of shortcuts too. That'll take up a couple megs? Does anyone know how to get rid of the damn cops when they're chasing you?! I can't get rid of them!

thanks for the info!

i get rid of the cops by just driving around forever, eventually they lose interest, there is a tunnel you can drive through too, and also if you go into the paint shop, they don't recognize you after you get your car painted. there is also a cheat, i think it is "nomorecops" you can use if you want to go that route.

Super Commando-

My friend has a Logitech USB wingman also.
He could not get the game running in XP.
I think because of his soundcard
But he did get it running under Windows 98.
However the Wingman didnt work.
He uninstalled The Logitech software and
used Windows default drivers.
Now his gamepad works (in 98).
Not sure if this will help in XP, but you could try.

 
Mine should be delivered today. If anyone sees a review out for this game, then please post the link here. I bought this game purely off of what people said about it and the gameplay. I would like to see what people think about the PC version. 🙂

I seem to recall they are pretty low (not surprising since by PC standards a PS2's hardware is VERY limited), and with your system you will be able to run at a very high resolution with everything turned on. I have a similar system (except with a P4 in lieu of your AXP) and it runs perfectly at 1240x1024/32-bit.

 
Thanks, deftron. I'll mess around with it some more and see what I can figure out. The game does run (and rather well on my 800 P3 with GeForce2 Ti, I might add), so I know my sound card isn't the problem. Thanks for the idea, though.

I had this problem as well with my Sidewinder gamepad. I eventually gave up and went with mouse/keyboard, which work just as well IMO. I am toying with buying a Thrustmaster Firestorm Dual Power, which looks really nice as well, but I will not bother if I can't get it working in the game.

These little things called "keyboards" and "mice" work wonders for controlling games like that on the PC. You must be a console gamer (no offense, I do both). Once you go to a keyboard and mouse, you'll never (want to) go back!!

Actually, nothing could be further from the truth. I've never cared that much for console games (in fact, even though I own a playstation controller, I don't own a playstation 😉 ) However, in games that involve driving or sports, I've found something with a wheel-doohickey to be far superior to using the arrow keys on my keyboard.

I see you're point now, forgive my ignorance. I played for about a half hour last night (that's all the time I had), and was controlling the vehicles with just the keyboard arrows, which wasn't too bad, but not great. After reading your reply, you have made me think about using the gamepad for driving, and the keyboard and mouse for walking. This now seems like something that should have been obvious, I just didn't think of it.
 
This game is great.

How many other games let you beat somebody down, wait for the paramedics to come, jack the abulance, and then run over the paramedics and THEN use the abulance for life saving missions to make money? 😀

BTW - anybody know if they still have garangas? They had them in the first one when you took out an entire line of chanting monks 😛

Ive got an IBM Thinkpad A21m, PIII750,384meg ram,..etc, now would integrated graphic card be enough for this game? Ive been waiting ages for this game but I dont want to get a desktop to play the game!!! Quick Replies would be great since I want to go right now and get the game! 🙂
