radeon is NOT supported fully.. its an Nvidia sponcered game...
and on my 6800 GT A64 system im running it at 1600x1200 3x AA and the game is absoulty stunning... i have none of the issues you are reporting at all...
I played for about 6 hours last night and none of my grafics look like yours...
sound is great (using recomended Audigy2) vid is great (usign recommended 6x series card)
control well I do agree there it feels a bit weird.. but i got used to it pretty fast...

Your right too, get a descent graphics card, maybe a descent comp aswell EyeMWing, i'm sure this will run fine on my X800XT 3.2ghz p4
