After getting an SLI upgrade, I think this game looks great with 4x MSAA + Transparency SSAA + TXAA. Still has some annoying aliasing on shaders and post processing, but nothing I do seems to fix those. Even 4k DSR doesn't completely fix those issues, and 4k DSR in general looks worse than 4x MSAA + TRSSAA + TXAA and performs worse.
FXAA does nothing in this game from what I can see.
Too bad the Witcher 3 driver release broke SLI in gta5 for me, I had to roll back to the GTA5 driver. So much for nvidia having good drivers.
Yeah even 4k DSR won't fix it. But I'm pretty happy with 2560x1440 DSR (on a 1080p TV) plus 2x MSAA + MFAA + TXAA + transparency 4x MSAA + control panel FXAA which I think MFAA also acts on to double. Did you set the Transparency SSAA in control panel or nVinspector?
For me throwing some DSR into the mix felt essential it took care some aliasing that none of the in game settings could sort out. I have so much AA enabled that honestly I think it looks blurry, and for me FXAA does get rid of some annoying temporal aliasing. There isn't currently any way in this game to get rid all the annoying aliasing and get a sharp looking image. But I'll personally take a little blurry over lines crawling and shaking and just annoying me.
This game will never look fully clean unless maybe 8k. Also the shadows alias like crazy and you have to play with the settings (change a major setting and then change back) or alt-tab so that goes away. Also you have to set the process priority to high in task manager or there will be pop-in all over the place.
Previously I had said I thought Watch Dogs had overall better graphics, but I think with my settings I can say GTA looks better finally. Watch Dogs looks very sharp and stable and that game with TXAA is very clean. However I couldn't help but think the lighting in that game is somewhat primitive. Overall the nicer lighting and effects in GTA makes it look better even though the detail in Watch Dogs is another level. Just stand in front of a storefront in both games.
