I pre-loaded from steam on saturday. Already took tomorrow and Wednesday off.

Has there been confirmation on this, whether you can or cannot? I know you can transfer your online character.

I can't wait to see if I do prefer this on KB&M or if I want to break out my wireless 360 controller and wireless hub (that I bought for my HTPC )

Rockstar claims that they've been doing a great job with optimization, unlike GTA 4. You'll only need a measly GTX 660 or Radeon HD 7870 to run the game at 1080p/60fps on high-ish settings.

Of course, in a few hours we'll know for sure. Performance charts will most definitely be posted in the VC&G forum.

I'll probably jump in once I see benchmarks and port reports. I recently upgraded my connection, I should be able to pull this down in 2-3 hours.

I am worried for both.

We all have seen steam crash and burn during releases of games before. It has happen. Especially during the sales.

I remember this during every major steam release, starting from HL2. Diablo 3 did it, starcraft 2. Hopefully me pre-loading it a couple of days ago helps.

Years ago, yes. Last time I remembered Steam having bad server issues was in ~2011. Since then it's been pretty stable (in my experience). And I just finished pre-loading GTA V at my full line speed with no hiccups.

Bought GTA5 back in december/january preorder from GMG, and download took me 15 hours... I think... Not because my connection isn't fast enough, but because They capped me @ ~ 1MB/s (8mbit) out of my 18-19MB/s... damn you rockstar! I never but had the fastest downloads off of steam....

Bit the bullet and ordered it. Pre-load says it will finish in around an hour, which... yeah, I don't believe that at all. But I should have it up and running tonight. I'll post impressions on KB/M support, controller support, various graphics options and performance. And, having previously played it on PS3, I'll see whether first-person mode really makes a significant difference; I'm guessing "yes."

It was reviewed 18 months ago and again for next gen. Only PC centric sites may post articles but I doubt those will be full fledged reviews. A paragraph here and there, not expecting much beyond that.
