edit 2: if it seems like nothing is happening, check your downloads. GTA V needs to unpack 60 GB and then it will play.

Well i got the Pre-load post patch downloaded, now im downloading the pre-download post post patch so here's to hoping this is it....

Told you all steam servers would get hammered.

This has nothing to do with Steam. Unless, are these updates sent through Steam? My updates are applying through the launcher (Social Club), I don't know if they are handled differently for the Steamworks version. Typically they are, but I suspect Rockstar has full control of data through their servers, perhaps Steam only works as the place where you download the original version (and achievements, etc).

Yeah it's the decrypting of, and then writing the game to disk that Steam does with preloads. Because the game is huge it's taking forever. Even on my SSD it's crawling.

Not an issue with Steam's servers. It's an issue with Steam's decryption method being frustratingly slow. This happens every time you have to unlock a pre-loaded game.
