I simply am skeptical of the hysteria. As everyone should be. That does not mean I think mankind has not contributed to climate change. Ive stated that. But this shit about the world ending in 8, 10, 12 years is bullshit. AOC wasnt the only one to say it, and she was serious. It was not hyperbole.

I suggest you remind yourself of other times "experts" predicted the world would end for one reason or another, including climate events. These predictions have been going on for thousands of years and guess what. Nothing happened. Here's a few to get started.

The fact is, the United States is the leader for significant change in climate related topics. Solar, wind, and electric vehicles for example. EPA laws restriction pollution.

This is not a crisis.

I enjoy these two posts.

The first links to a conservative think tank pointing out 18 catastrophic predictions from 1970 that “didn’t come to pass”. With many being related to people who were going to die from air pollution. Didn’t happen stupid chicken little liberal scientists. Just like stupid chicken little liberal climate scientists today.

the second is about how conservatives don’t want to hear about climate change but some conservative politicians might be willing to throw money at carbon sequestration and free market solutions and deregulation to reduce carbon fuel impacts.

What’s funny is the article points out the role regulations have played in innovating the energy sector.

Take car exhaust: When U.S. lawmakers designed the Clean Air Act of 1970, they knew our tail pipes were a major source of toxic air pollution that was choking cities across the country. The act gave carmakers five years to reduce emissions of several pollutants by 90 percent. The auto industry warned lawmakers that the regulation would bankrupt carmakers or force them to pass the costs onto consumers, leading to an economic catastrophe either way—an argument that fossil fuel industry and its supporters still use today when lobbying against new regulations. Lawmakers passed the act anyway, and the industry quickly developed and embraced the catalytic converter—a device that strips car exhaust of harmful pollutants and allowed the industry to meet the target just a few years behind schedule.

The Clean Air Act was so successful because, as little as a half-century ago, Americans across the political divide agreed on environmental policy. Both the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 and the Clean Air Act passed the Senate unanimously. In 1990, when the Senate passed an amendment strengthening the act, even Mitch McConnell (R-Kentucky), who tried and failed to weaken the law so it would have less of an effect on the coal industry, voted in favor of it. "I had to choose between cleaner air and the status quo," he said at the time. "I chose cleaner air." “

So we passed the clean air act in 1970 (along with the EPA), forced industry to clean up, and suddenly all those dumb predictions ended up being wrong because we did something about them?.!!...1

Wait whose points are you trying to make here? :p

(Oh the other big failed prediction was global cooling which was being caused by particulate pollution which you pointed out earlier in the thread which also got cleaned up :p)

I suspect your lack of understanding is the result of cognitive dissonance. You're always so concerned about faulting liberals for every tiny perceived slight that of course you don't notice that Fox news viewers are constantly demanding the murder of everyone whose speech they disagree with. That's why the Trump campaign just portrayed Trump as Thanos, and they loved it. But I'm sure that's the liberals' fault too.. if only they wouldn't keep 'abusing' their free speech by saying things that RNWJs disagree with...
yawn. The lemmings liked what you had to say.

The same point Ive been making all along. I believe humans are responsible for some climate change, and we need to continue the progress we've made, and work to find new solutions. Thats what we do as Americans. My opinion is the answer lies somewhere in between do nothing and the green new deal (in its entirety). I also dont think the world is going to start an irreversible landslide into extinction in 10 years if we do nothing (which were not doing anyway.) And finally as a moderate capitalist, I hope this spawns more private industry and makes some people some money.

Seems like the lemming is the poster who can't answer a simple question, and can't find the moral courage to speak up against grown men issuing death threats to a 16 year old girl, just because it might be politically inconvenient for him to do so.

Lol...Individual 1's team tweeted a picture of his head superimposed over Greta's body and naming him as person of the year.

Applying Poe's Law, I don't know if Trump War Room is a parody site or not.

As for 2:30 p.m. today, Trump had either tweeted or retweeted 108 times just for the day, beating his previous binge record of 105, which was set just last Sunday.

That's how he spends his executive time.

Guess I was right:
Perhaps Trump will have another fake cover printed out to soothe his fragile ego.

Well this one makes more sense than the Trump on Rocky photoshop. He posts on twitter like a teen aged girl. He doesn't have anything in common with Rocky.

LOL just noticed that Trump accused Thunberg of having "anger management" issues. Says the guy who rages at everyone who criticizes him.

Is there anything Trump ever criticizes people for that he is not guilty of himself?

Trump is a complete retard - especially on Twatter...

But he never went upon a UN speech and made like an emotional tampon like Greta. All of which... accomplished nothing... all of which... made goals and actions of nothing....

But hey, maybe you can get some cracker-jack points out of it if it makes you feel better.

Still snarking at a kid because she'd like humanity to save itself from its own hubris and is actually trying to do something about it? What a guy. Keep up the good work.

How can you say it did nothing? When someone makes a public speech, whatever impact it has is kind of hard to identify, at least immediately. So there's no hard evidence either way.

What she did was call attention to the issue, because it needs attention. It needs attention because of all the people who are denying this. Like I said before, if you're not fond of her personality and the manner in which she speaks, deal with the assholes who created the situation where an angry emotional speech is a pretty natural reaction.

Meh. she goes around yelling at people to do something. Meanwhile, there are lots of people actually trying to do things that never get any credit because they would rather get shit done than yell at people who drive their SUVs to a rally and hold up disposable signs and also don't do anything about it.

nothing great will ever happen until each of us addresses the demand side. yelling at oil companies for producing the energy you use is just stupid. use all that mental power to reduce your energy consumption.

Yep. Some random girl scowls and looks miserable and does nothing and the media for whatever reason goes crazy over her. Meanwhile many other people do useful things and go completely unnoticed. So if her sail boat sank I would laugh. Not because I'm a trumper or a conservative or I hate the environment, but just because I find the hypocrisy surrounding this miserable little person to be quite ridiculous.

Climate change isn't something for one person to solve - it needs large scale government action by many governments - national and local. A single tech bro type character isn't going to swoop in at the last minute and save us. In order to get governments to take action, we need the political will to do it, and that takes spokespeople to muster support. But go on, please keep quibbling about the spokesperson...

He is a big man

In his own mind

I think maybe getting inside Trump’s head is like that scene in Being John Malkovich, where Malkovich goes inside his own head, and everyone is Malkovich. Trump sees everyone else in the world as himself, with all his faults, thus of course Greta has anger management issues.

That works for Trump in addition to the poster I was talking about.
