GREAT racing sim!

I ran down a 2:32.xx in the Lister. I'm still getting accustomed to it and I don't have a wheel/pedal setup 🙁 I'm using my hax0rd Xbox controller.

I'll get better with time 😀 When this comes out, we need to get a ATOT race going on for the car guys so I can ram NFS4 into a wall in whatever American heap I can get 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀

😀

JYDog, don't worry, this is just a demo, of the unfinished game. I am sure that once it comes out most wheels will be supported.

well, the CPU runs a 2:14.6..guess that's the time to aim for 😀

Ouch... I played several hours this evening and 2:23 is my best time. I could certainly tighten up a bit of my turns but not by much I don't think. The track quide is very helpful but I can't do what the guy tells me to. I have no idea how someone could take that first "s" turn in 6th gear?!?!
I've pulled through it in 5th, it looks deceiving, but the Lister will hold through it, just be careful at the end of it when the road levels off, the car can get squirrily if you need to make a big steering correction...

Technically I'm talking about turn #3 (see MoTeC). The first and second turn I can hit full throttle in 6th gear and make it. The #3 turn is the first one after the super long straight away. The quide fellow recommends either going through it in 5th or 6th gear. I can only do it in 3rd gear in the GT.

Ohh I thought you meant the first turn after the starting/finish line... I don't see how the turn you're talking about can be taken in gear 6 😕 I'd love to see that get pulled off...

Your ass is mine Trebek!!

Thanfully I'm in the same boat as JYDog... OT but I wonder when Logitech is coming out with it's new wheel that's supposed to be used for Gran Turismo 4?

I don't like the MOMO Racing wheel over my MOMO Force... just wish it had an option for a clutch.

2.26.4 with the Lister simulation mode default setup auto and high traction control

very inconsistent though... keyboard sucks... if im not understeering im over correcting and i end up spinning...:frown: my other comp has my wheel 🙁

GTR keeps crashing when I change view modes on my 9800PRO!
I wanna trade in my 9800Pro for a 5900... I wanna span this game across my dual 21"
anyone interested in trading? 🙂

best is 2:23.5 in sim mode with Lister, manual, low traction control, and low ABS

edit: and old-skool non-force-feedback joystick

edit2: now 2:22.4

edit3: 2:21.6 😀

No.

Well, once I buy a 6800U I'll trade you 😉

Nice! The fastest time I've seen is 2:12 posted by someone over at Race Sim Central. Real life hot lap times at Spa seem to be in the 2:15 to 2:18 range.

Great simulator. 🙂

😛

It really depends on how much I can sell either card for. I'll keep my 5900U and sell it if I can get more for it 😛

I've always found a joystick to be an unnatural way to drive a car.

I think I got around it though.

I assigned my twist axis to throttle and brake, left right axis for steering, and left the Y-axis blank.

Throttle for clutch, buttons for shifting, whatnot.

Its been working so far, and will get better once I get used to driving with the stick twisted.

I like playing in simulation mode, but there are some physics flaws in this game, esp. when you wind up off the track (which happens to me quite often. . . I'm not used to racing sims. I'm used to aircraft sims, like IL-2, where planes like the P-51 and P-47 turn better at high speeds. This does not hold true for automobiles.)

Heh, its a fun game.

I dont think any sim will ever have perfect physics... ive been playing racing sims all my life... 😀 I think this is a lot better than the crap bigger companies put out... except for Papyrus of course. 🙂

Switched from keyboard to a Logitech Rumbledpad... simulation... default setup... traction and abs high... manual.

2.19.0 with the Lister 😀

Gah! I can't beat my 2:21.6 time from last night. But at least now I'm consistently below 2:30 with every lap, lap after lap... unless I try to get 2:20 or under 🙁

IMO, this game kicks the sh!t out of LFS as far as realism goes.

2.22.4 Sim mode, no traction ctrl, no abs

Still tweaking, my Xbox pad is working pretty well for this 😀

I broke out my Momo wheels for this game....and its horrible, the wheel not the game. Stupid left right deadspot. Turning off FF its like driving a bus. And i have both momos, the original and the new rubber one (which is actually better in some respects). I dont think my brain was built to drive an f1-type car.
