Gov. Walker and WI's master plan

He is a college dropout.

What relevance does that have to this discussion? Do you pay taxes? Have you EVER worked and looked at your paycheck? What is your property tax rate? The People elected the governor and state congress members based on exactly this direction. Are you even of legal age to vote? Where are you getting your information on this bill that WILL become law?

Answer these questions. You asked me if I was a WI senator in another thread. Nope, just a Tea Bagging American that is here to end the gravy train and save the U.S.A. State by state, county by county.

Where are you getting your information on a bill to save your state and do you have any skin in the game?

Gov Walker may be setting up the entire state of Wisconsin up to a boycott by organized Labor nationwide. Wisconsin used to be a strong Union State, and as worker abuse increases, yes Unions will start coming back in a big way.

Big business sure is not doing anything for the American worker, and now the Wisconsin GOP has declared war on the Wisconsin worker.

So by "big business" do you mean the State of Wisconsin?

Who fucking cares if he is a college dropout - that is probably the most worthless personal attack that could be made in this case. I know plenty of college dropouts that would give 'smart' - no real life skills professors a run for their money any day.

Fact is, union members get paid more and get better benefits at almost every level of government employment - in probably every single state. Time to cut the fat, businesses have been doing it. Honestly, to be fair, state employees should lose 10% of their payroll to play catch-up with the real world employment situation. The fact that these people still have jobs, and they are complaining about having to pay a bit more for benefits, shows just how out of touch the Socialist unions really are. And just how little they really care about the health or welfare of their actual employers - THE PEOPLE.

I wonder if they'll fire all the teachers that called in sick to protest?

Nah, can't do that. Unions. It's to the point now where you can't fire a teacher, as in it's impossible to fire them.

When I was in High School we had a teacher flip out, throw a girl from her desk, grab her desk and throw it off the three story building. He was asked to resign.

As a student in Southern Wisconsin I believe the idea of students being involved in the protests let alone the teachers protesting in the first place is a silly idea. For students to do this not only puts them in harms way but puts them in a battle that is not theirs. For teachers, it only proves them to be eligible of being fired. I will say though that I disagree with Walker in some areas. Still cant believe school districts actually closed down for this, all because the teachers decided to ditch school for the protests. What kind of society have we become?

You're watching democracy in action. And thanks for being a part of the process. Not too many citizens your age care enough to get involved.

My problem with this isn't the cuts to benefits and having to pay a bit more, it's the collective bargaining, and the exemption of police, fire and state troopers.

At least people are finally taking to the streets. A lesson learned from Egypt!
Funny... how we had money to bail out banks. Start and maintain wars. Give tax breaks.
And... (need I go on?)

We all really know what this is all about.
"Some" people (I won't mention names) hate black presidents.
And hate the middle class.
And make any excuse to destroy both.
We all know what is really going on....here.

Yep. Tax paying Americans are voting again. Wide awake now.

Funny… how this is their master plan to break unions. Why? Unions are the only competition to the right wing money machine. Why did Reid end up winning in AZ when everyone said he wouldn’t? Unions got out the vote. So it makes total sense that republicans would love to kill their completion, they dam well will give it a try.
Welcome to WI politics. Republicans vs democrats. Simple.
As far as race... I think that argument has long been proven true,
by Republicans in the house!
We all know exactly what is happening in WI. Exactly!

Rhetoric? Lame rhetoric at best? You're just spewing, and you're first post wasn't even loosely connect to the topic at hand.

So how much money have you stolen from us real hardworking Americans? As much as you post on here its obvious you don't do any real work. I mean, being a cable puller is pretty low brain power work, but even so.

Other states are facing similar budget problems. Down here, TX, LA, AR are cutting back on K-12 education, universities, and very much everything else.

Federal government has budget issues, states governments have budget issues, municipals governments have budget issues, US citizens have budget issues. Anyone who does not have budget issues besides the filthy riches? <signnnnnn>

They got their tax break so everything should be fixed now right?

State employee union members in Wisconsin do not pay into their own retirement. They get excellent health benefits. The Gov wants them to contribute 5.6% to their retirement fund and pay 12.6% of their health insurance cost in an attempt to balance the budget. Still way less than the private sector employees pay.

The private sector in Wisconsin cannot support these contracts... that is why Wisconsin will have a $3.6 BILLION deficit next year.

Funny how you complain abot a right wing money machine... do you not think the unions fear the breaking up of their money machine? unions don't work for free... members pay dues and it is quite the money machine itself.

Entitlement society. Notice the debt and deficits? Notice that no one can do anything about it? These protests are exactly why. Attempts to reduce our government spending results in these 'violent' outbursts. That is our society.

It is quite doomed.

While I understand the annoyance at public unions; why are people lauding this free-spending budget killing asshole?

First of all he got bailed out by the state when he was county executive of Milwaukee county four years ago, and he left it in shambles.

Secondly he inherited a $100M + SURPLUS [ http://legis.wisconsin.gov/lfb/Misc/2011_01_31Vos&Darling.pdf ]

Which he quickly turned into a deficit with unfunded spending

• $25 million for an economic development fund for job creation that still has $73 million due to a lack of job creation. Walker is creating a $25 million hole which will not create or retain jobs.

“• $48 million for private health savings accounts, which primarily benefit the wealthy. A study from the federal Governmental Accountability Office showed the average adjusted gross income of HSA participants was $139,000 and nearly half of HSA participants reported withdrawing nothing from their HSA, evidence that it is serving as a tax shelter for wealthy participants.

“• $67 million for a tax shift plan, so ill-conceived that at best the benefit provided to ‘job creators’ would be less than a dollar a day per new job, and may be as little as 30 cents a day.”

So now conservatives are lauding him for manufacturing a deficit after inheriting a surplus and coming off of an absolute failure as county executive. Anyone who cheers this douche on is the farthest thing from a true fiscal conservative.

I can see their thought process now "well he destroys budgets and increases spending [as county executive over 35% increase], but he says unions are bad so lets form a circle jerk".

Walker got his game plan right out of Bush and Cheney's playbook: Hand the surplus over to the rich, the run a deep deficit that creates a situation where it's more favorable to attack the unions and fed/state sponsored social programs.
