Tell that to your public union buddies especially the prison guards, cops who made bank (some over 100k, on CA taxpayers' dime) on OT. If it weren't for the Democratic party kowtowing to unions in CA we would be in much better shape.

If California lawmakers needed one more reason not to give pay raises to the state's 31,000 prison guards, a newly released salary survey should provide it. In the state's first survey that compares correctional officer pay rates in California with the pay rates of their counterparts around the country, California prison guards came out on top by huge margins.
California's correctional officers earn a maximum base salary of $73,728. According to the newly released survey, that's 39 percent more than the average base pay for prison guards in 10 other states and the federal government. When benefits including retirement and medical insurance are included, California's guards earn 29 percent more than the median earned by guards in the other states and the federal government.
The survey understates the disproportionate pay of California prison guards because it does not include overtime. Prison guards in California take home $16,000 in overtime on average every year. In 2006, 1,423 guards collected more than $50,000 in overtime; 36 earned more than $100,000.
Given those pay rates, it's hardly surprising that 130,000 people apply to become California prison guards every year.
At a time California is struggling to pay its bills, the guards union is demanding more pay raises. They have threatened to recall the governor if they don't get what they want. It's time for lawmakers to stand up to the guards. They deserve to be well paid, and they already are. This study should settle that.

I agree with you generally about him, but this may actually be the first time there's some vaiditiy his point. The CA Democratic party has had too close of ties to the prison guard union and it's not always been fair to taxpayers, and while I can't say I know of a clear partisan backing for police union overtime, I do think there has been some poor management there that has added to costs.
But even assuming the worst on that, there's a political reality of theRepublicans having far worse policies and being such whores as to make the Dems look like nuns, and so while I won't excuse the abuses, I will point out that the solution needed is larger than only the issues for Democrats, that it's not a solution only to fix their issues and then leave them powerless against Republican corruption for Republicans to gain control and ruin the state.
He has a good memory on my position on gerrymandering, but not surprisingly he misrepresented it in a way that makes it look worse, by not mentioning that I was saying I'm opposed to *only* the Democratic states ending gerrymandering and giving more seats to Republicans, while Republican states continue to gerrymander, thereby giving a big edge to Republicans in Congress - I want any 'fix' to be more universal.
However, my state voted the other way, and CA did adopt a system to end the legislature creating districts, so we can expect just what I described as far as CA.
He also neglected to mention that I strongly support states adopt ranked voting, allowing voters to vote for who they' really want' and still have their cotes count.
But not enoug, apparently, not to 'correct' a good joke about the German word being 'Schwarzeneggar' by the irrelvant comment that he's Austrian.
But maybe you can translate my well-justified criticism of your post into German, since you speak it. Or perhaps into Austrian.
Speaking German is realy not a relevant card for you to play on this point. If we were discussing something that requires speaking German, you might have a point.

Either way you're still wrong. I did not misrepresent your position at all. You did not want CA to have district boundaries reasonably drawn because it would weaken the national democratic party. I don't care about partisan politics. I'm registered with neither party. When I was a CA resident there is only one thing I cared: that our districts are drawn in a way that our people are adequately represented, on a local, state and federal level. It's the power hungry CA democrats who have drawn out districts to their benefit. What other states do is their business and I don't care.
You could say that Tom DeLay gerrymandered districts to further Republican causes. I assure you, if a politician did this in my district and I have the privilege to vote against him/her, I will.

I despise politicians and political parties in power. It just happens that your party is in power right now, nothing personal. You're also one of those kinds that foolishly believe that if your party (Democrats) had complete control of the Government for eternity, we'll have utopia. This is the same as Republicans thinking that they'll control everything forever during the first 6 years of Bush's presidency. They failed, and you will too.

Let's use an analogy of Obama's cancer curing initiative. Now, suppose the proposal was "but the cure will only be made available to black cancer victims."
Well, you might oppose THAT program. You insist that any government program to cure cancer has to provide the cure regardless of race.
If I then simply posted that your position was to oppose curing cancer, that's a lot like your only saying I'm against fixing gerrymandering in CA.
I'm actually in favor of ending gerrymandering on a national basis, just not handing power to the immoral party and only reducing the power of one of the two main parties.
The only question is whether you can understand how you are misrepresenting my position, not whether you are.

Two wrongs don't make a right. If you see something wrong in another state's redistricting procedure, why don't you fight it? People fought against the Democratic establishment in CA and can finally (eventually) be able to vote for representatives in districts that accurately represent demographics.
Arguing with you about adequate representation of our citizens for a healthy democracy is a waste of my time, since you're so fixated on your quest for democratic control. Plus it's off-topic anyway.
