Gov. Mark Sanford ranks in the top 50 based on the total amount he spent on trips paid by his office and those paid by the state Commerce Department. Mr. Sanford has traveled to China, Argentina and Brazil through the Commerce Department, which has travel reports showing taxpayers covering $21,488 for those trips.

Mr. Sanford also spent $1,976 in travel through his office.

RAAAWWWRRR I'm so outraged that Obama the ***SOCIALIST*** is giving stimulus money to our state, i'm taking a conservative stance and saying NO!

Oh btw, can you give me some money to take trips to other countries so i can cheat on my wife? TIA.

He ranks in the top 50 governors at this? Wow.🙂

?I'm sure there will be a lot of legalistic explanations pointing out that the president lied under oath. His (Livingston's) situation was not under oath. The bottom line, though, is that he still lied. He lied under a different oath, and that's the oath to his wife. So it's got to be taken seriously.? - Mark Sanford on Bill Clinton

Oh mark sanford, what crazy things WON'T you say?

Seems all those quotes from the wife of her saying he had to "write something" was interpreted wrong cause it sure looks like he tried to "right something".

You mean "ride something"? lol

No, I mean right something, as in to rectify a problem. This case he ended an affair...

he was making a funnay...

Oh man, this just keeps getting better... apparently what Sanford did was illegal under SC law:

SECTION 16-15-60. Adultery or fornication.

Any man or woman who shall be guilty of the crime of adultery or fornication shall be liable to indictment and, on conviction, shall be severally punished by a fine of not less than one hundred dollars nor more than five hundred dollars or imprisonment for not less than six months nor more than one year or by both fine and imprisonment, at the discretion of the court.

By the time 2012 rolls around, about the only repubs left to run will be Palin & Romney!!

Looks like 4 more years for the Dem's unless something terrible happens.

He is unamerican, he rejects federal stimulus, but accepts Argentinean stimulus.

Well, he has arguably gotten more out of his Argentinean stimulus than we have gotten out of the federal stimulus...

Man cheats on wife, news at 11.

That he was having an affair is not surprising at all is no big deal... that he went AWOL from office is basically not forgivable in terms of his public responsibility.

It's days like today that I love. I know I can come to ATP&N and just bask in the partisan hackery.

This isn't a Republican problem, it's a Sanford problem and it's a "politician/persons in power" problem. Anyone that wants to say otherwise needs to be careful lest Edwards, Spitzer, and the Messiah John Freaking Kennedy be mentioned.

Face it, politics attracts men (and women) who have a need for personal power and influence. Personal power and influence attracts really sleazy women (and men). Man with power + women who like to be dominated = trouble. That's not a D thing and it's not an R thing, it's a scumbag thing and they come from all walks of life.

so, a R does something stupid, selfish, etc... bash
a D does something stupid, selfish, etc... it was best for the country...

god do i ever love how much one persons bias and sunglasses help shade them from the hilariousness that is all of politics... D's, R's, they all suck... atleast the core base values of R's are better

We're approximately 23 hours away from Sanford admitting he has a drinking problem brought on by the ObamasocialismBBQ which led him down this dark road to Argentinian ex-Nazi Trannies.

Seriously, I think he got caught in a Homosexual Trist and went to a Homo-Reformation Camp...

Not in this country anyway.

South Carolina has jurisdiction in Argentina?!?

Seriously though, yeah, if Mrs. Sanford is pissed then he could be in a heap of trouble.

except what you and sacktoking are omitting is that the core base values of the R's include tradition and focus on the importance of family. lol.

thats exactly how i feel. i don't give a shit he cheated on his wife. thats between him, his wife and whatever (if any) god he worships.

the fact he went AWOL without any way to get ahold of him should be what gets him in trouble.

It's just as reprehensible no matter who does it... but the Republicans' typical hard-line stance on "family values" and "traditional marriage" makes it so much lulzier when they're the ones doing the cheating.
