Probably a lack of cruise control. I love to set cruise and drive super duper slow, and it happens quite often that someone ahead of me will be doing 5 faster than me, then for no reason they're going 5 slower than me and I need to turn cruise off, then they speed up again for no reason.

It's the worst on highways. The area north of my city has a lot of hilly roads. What happens is people will tailgate me on the straight aways then I somehow end up a half mile ahead of them when we get to a hill with a gentle incline. I've had my cruise on the whole time, so it's not my speed that's changing. People just suck at driving.

Yep. Class 1 felony here. Never heard of anyone going to jail for it, but they can suspend your license and you get a permanent criminal record. I actually got caught going 80 by accident once, cop was nice and knocked it down to 79 (at the time I didn't know the 80 or over part, was going 80 in a 65). Cop actually asked me if I knew that 80 or over was reckless driving (I admitted it at the outset). Didn't know that, but I sure as hell knew the punishment. The shit-my-pants look on my face must have been priceless.

Apparently breaking the law is perfectly fine if it helps you get to your destination a few minutes faster. Speeding is illegal, op sped so he broke the law. That makes him a criminal in my eyes. I've never sped once, but I guess shaving 5 minutes off my time isn't as important as not breaking a law. Would be uber if 2/3rd of the Highway Patrol did nothing but pull over speeders and give out tickets all day. Not that I have any beef directly with speeders, but people who think they can break a law simply because they don't agree with it are people I'd like to see pay for their arrogance.

80 in a 55 is too much. 80 in a 65 with a cop nearby is cutting it. keep it to +/- 10 and don't complain. If oyu get pulled over for 75 in a 65, then you're just unlucky. Get pulled over for 80, well that's your fault. It's a gamble many of us make all the time.

safe speed on highway is what everyone else is doing. Fucking Toronto drivers are now approaching 130km/h on Highway 401 as the "norm" when there is no congestion. The posted limit is 100.
