Yes, over 30 years as a heavy equipment operator, mostly as a crane operator...but I've spent my time in dirt iron as well. I've been cussed by the surveyors a time or two for taking out the stakes, batter boards, even benchmarks...😀

I love that the guard rails are hanging in mid-air. I guess the pavement crumbled around the posts, and they are just driven into the ground, but not cemented to it in any meaningful way?

Yes, they are just driven into the ground. From what I hear, the guard rail posts were holding up the road for 30 or so minutes, then it let loose.
