Please show me the law, because while living in Colorado I never heard of it, and I didn't ever have any problems from wearing a shirt with profanity on it which I also bought in Colorado. It does not appear to be a city law.

Reached late Monday, City Attorney Cole Finnegan said he didn't believe there were any city ordinances against displaying a profane bumper sticker

Oh bullsh*t he would of...he's a worthless neoconservative jacka$$ who hates anything with a brain. Cop should lose his job and NEVER be allowed public position again. EVER.

Profanity laws vary from community to community and in MOST cases are very open to interpretation.

People need to understand that police are not lawyers, judges, or politicians. They simply make snap judgements on what they consider to be either legal or illegal. If we require our police to actually know all of the nuances of the law before they arrest anyone, no one would ever be arrested.

The point is, many people daily are warned, arrested, etc... by the police for what turn out to be totally legal events. However, these things never stand up in court, as it is the judges (not the officers) job to know and interpret the law. For this reason, you are still considered innocent until proven guilty. Arrest, or warning aside, the law is on this womans side, and she would have prevailed had she a day in court over the matter.
But would you want to have a police record of arrest even though you were found innocent, because a cop doesn't know the law?

I sure wouldn't.
If you're not booked (charged with a crime), there would be no record.

Not always true at all. I was arrested once, and questioned on another incident once...BOTH of which appeared on my criminal record even though in the first case all charges were dropped before my first trial appearance and in the second I was never even charged with a crime or arrested. It took me 3 1/2 years of legal battles to get my record cleared. Police and courts often (not always, but often) WAY overstep their authority to punish those they personally don't like, and they only give in when they're faced with prosecution or loss of their jobs.

Haha - how interesting:p I saw a POS gas guzzling bronco(full size) today that had a brand new "Fvck Bush" sticker on it. I chuckled. I mean, go ahead and throw your public tantrum via a bumper sticker if you wish - it's not like it's going to change anything. Infact I'd say more moderate folk might even get turned off the rabid left's antics.

<- can't wait for the next election cycle

BTW - you can't swear in public in alot of places, heck you can't swear on TV. I really don't care if people put that on their vehicles, and I don't think it should be against the law to do so - but I think people should have the decency to choose more appropriate types of displays.

See, it's shows that we're not the only ones who are in a hurry to get rid of Bush! :Q

Oh, and it seems that many there would just assume an all Republican or all Democrat government. A government of too much power will collapse upon itself over time. Be careful, you might get what you wish for with less than expected results.

With antics like people putting "Fvck Bush" bumperstickers on - I don't think I need to worry about the far left winning any time soon;)

*note to self: sell tons of "Fvck Bush" stickers to help my cause.:D

Can I make that into a bumpersticker too? :D I'm quite sure it'd fit nicely under the "Fvck Bush" one:p

F*ck <insert racist slur in here>
F*ck <insert sexual slur in here>
F*ck you, come too close and I'll kill you

;)

Eh?

I believe he's trying to tell you, by using your own words, that ad hominems are sucky politics.

I'm not using an ad hominem. I simply said that his politics suck, which is an extremely condensed version of a full critique of social democratic socialism. If you want the full critique click the link in my signature.

In a larger nutshell, conjur is condemning conservative socialism, but instead of denouncing socialism altogether he is merely advocating a different kind of socialism: social democratic. Hence, aside from the fact that the entire Democrat vs. Republican debate has been going on for decades and has become extremely boring, it is also pretty much inane and meaningless.

F**K Jews
Support the american Nazi party
Should be protected because it is polical speech.

How about "Sodomize Bush"?

I don't think it is lame, I think it's an efficient way of conveying one's general feelings of disdain and disgust re: Bush to the world.

The cop clearly deserves to be fired. If such standards exist for a community, they need to be clearly part of the law and publicly debated. No-one has shown that the bumper sticker violated Colorado law. They also need to be clearly uniformly implemented and not selectively implemented by cops who disagree with someone's political views.

Perhaps the most disturbing thing about the article is that it appears that the cop said the person must take off ALL her bumper stickers, including apparently ones without obscenity or profanity on them. This strongly suggets the motive was primarily political for the officer's actions here.

I agree that the cop should be fired.

The fact that this cop actually threatened to track this woman down to her home is disturbing (if the crime is that grave, why didn't he arrest her on the spot?) Even more disturbing, the fact the cop warned this woman not to return to the area again. Essentially he's telling her to get the fvck out of town, or else. This little creep is using his uniform to intimidate this woman into shutting up - despite him not having a legal leg to stand on. That is disgusting. The problem is that Bush's win has given people like this license to unleash their sick, demented social conservative tendencies on the rest of the community.

Efficient? How about 14-year-oldish? :p

The only way it could be any better was if it said, "FVCK BUSH LOLOL!1!!!111!~~~ WTF"

I guess it's time I ordered one that says "Go F*ck Yourself, Bush"

You should put that right next to the sticker that say people don't F--- with my car.

Conjur -

It is your right to put whatever you'd like to on your car. :) Having said that...

You do realize that it makes you look like white trash, and it actually hinders your cause.

You're joking, right? White trash is the minivan I pass with a dozen of those "Support Our Troops" ribbons on the back. One is tasteful, a dozen is...questionable. White trash are the old Fords and Chevys with "Bush: Farm Team" bumper stickers.
