GOP Debate #1

Why does the audience get such a loud voice in this debate? It wreaks havoc with any wisp of objectivity. I feel like I'm watching the combination of a high school assembly and a reality show.

I really miss the league of Women Voters' debates when the discourse was civil before the greenback ruled every aspect of politics.

Shhh. I'm starting it back up (I was making dinner). 😱
That's what people love these days. Sensationalist titles, 140 characters on Twitter, quips and zingers.

Meanwhile Paul was disappointing. He seems to have like 2 issues going for him and that's it which is the surveillance issue and balancing the budget. I don't doubt both are important, but it sounds like he's unable to speak on any other issue well.

Face it, just too many people up there on stage.
You CAN NOT have a debate or anything near the definition of "a debate" with this format.
It just makes everyone look silly and shallow.
You have all these candidates commenting on a single question, then also trying to stand out from the crowd.
The whole thing was TERRIBLE for them all.

What did we learn? Nothing much.
Even Donald had a huge problem feeding raw meat to the masses with this fiasco.
When it narrows down to five or six still standing, including Donald Trump in that mix, then it "might" get interesting. "Might"....

I have to say.. Rubio is scary against Hillary (who I don't want to win the nomination).

Sanders vs Rubio is an election that I would like to see!

At this point I think its Rubio's nomination to lose.

He has the best shot at beating any of the Democratic nominees. He and Jeb have the best shot at getting 40% of the hispanic vote and Rubio has the best shot at getting the younger voters. Which typically not important, do play a role in generational shift elections which this one very well could be.

I have to laugh at Fox News.

When they have meetings and plan they say "we have to make sure we get black people in. You know its a GOP debate and people are looking". So first Facebook questioner was black. Naturally they thought asking the only black guy the race question covered them.

But the unplanned moments when they react on instinct they forget about the black guy. Carson pointed it out when he said "I wondered when you were going to get to me"

I wondered about Rubio, on the question of climate change he says, "man I'm not a scientist" But on the question of when life begins he all of a sudden he becomes a biologist. Rubio and the rest of the field know for a certainty life begins at conception.

I'm amazed how brazenly fox went after Trump in the questions and after the debate in the analysis. Overall, I think Huckabee, Carson, and Bush are completely unelectable, as they really only appeal to a very small segment of the population. The republican party's best chance is Rubio or Christie in my opinion, but I doubt either will get the nod. The candidates are already starting to move farther right, forced to unify against the democrats and take extreme positions like outlawing all abortion, and that type of candidate will sink the ship when it comes to moderates, which is a shame, because democrats don't have all of the answers. However, the democrat 'extreme' positions, like decreasing carbon footprint, legalizing gay marriage, and higher taxes on the rich won't ruin their candidate's chances.

You should look at the lack of comments from "right wingers" in this thread...

\the rest is simple...
\\massive cluster****...

I imagine they are on their other right wing forums discussing the event. I wonder what the feedback is from the rightwingasphere.

He might have the best chance to beat Dems, but he probably does not have the best chance to get the nomination. We had same problem the last time.

I've never seen such bias by a debate host. They were gunning for Trump during the debate, and then crapped all over him afterwards.

The GOP is at risk becoming an unviable party. They really need to think about cleaning house, pandering to 2% of Americans to get the nomination will guarantee they will never hold office again.

How can anyone say anything bad about Kasich after this debate? I think he's the only honorable, fully sane man up there.
