Sign me up!!! I pay like $25/month for my Yahoo! email, and that's only for POP access (still have a 10MB limit.) Hopefully I can get rid of all the spam with a new gmail account.

The article intimated that they may charge for "additional" services like spam protection. If that's the case, I will stay with Yahoo. They have fabulous spam protection, and the account is free. The extra space is not worth the lack of features.

I'm paying $30 a year for Yahoo email (which I can't even use here on Anandtech Forums, BOOOOOOOOOOOOOO:|:|), but I really like it.

A free google account sounds even better.

This has to be a joke. Who wants 500 times the spam they get from a hotmail account.

??? What's wrong with Yahoo? I've had a free account with them forever and I needed more space so I paid to upgrade. Nothing wrong with that if I like their service. It's reliable and I can access it from anywhere including my PDA.

Maybe the fact you can get a cheap or free (1and1.com) hosting account that will do the same thing for MUCH less. You can access pop anywhere you can use outlook express or similar free email client (pegasus). I *think* lots of pda's and phones also have pop acess too, but not sure since I haven't checked email on my phone in a year.

That's like admitting you pay for Hotmail.

Edit: As an AT employee, you should know better.

I would GLADLY pay $30/year or whatever for this, provided that got me good spam blocking and POP3 or IMAP access. That's frickin' awesome.

Known better than to pay for a service that I like? That's like saying that I shouldn't buy a Toyota b/c a Kia will get the job done for less money.
