i have a SSD in mine.HZD takes longer to load vs GOW bu its nowhere near 3 min

i don't have an SSD/SSHD

Nice so if I'm going from a 1tb to 2tb I have the option to save my saved games at least on a USB..I'm guessing. I also debated just getting an external and letting that stay connected. I'd have no use for the current hd that's in there now.

the console makes it pretty easy to migrate everything with a external USB drive.

I mean what can I say, this game is fucking incredible. I don't want to put it down but I'm just tired as shit. It's a fucking masterpiece.

EDIT:

And this game is absolutely nothing like HZD IMO, at least not yet. It's pretty damn linear, at least so far. I'm like 2 hours in.
Aw, I was hoping it would be like HZD. Finishing up on Assassin's Creed: Origin and all of its DLC and love openworld action/adventure games.

the first cpl hours or so are pretty linear very similar to how HZD does not open up until you get out of the starting area. once you get there it opens up quite a bit with a lot of exploring and side things to do. its prob not as vast as HZD but its good

its prob more like the 2 more recent Tomb Raider games than anything else in terms of how the world works

If you liked horizon you will like this one it's just on a smaller scale. I haven't gotten far enough to where you are free to do side missions or explore anywhere you want yet. The combat is a bit different compared to the other god of war games..thank goodness they didn't do another remake! They took this one in different direction yet still kept the same feel of the god of war series. My roommate watched me play all weekend and then started a new game on his account. He said he thought it was pretty good and he generally doesn't like these type of games..he's more into online stuff like GTA, rainbow six, and red dead redemption, etc.

Such a great game; I'm not even that far in and I can already tell that I'll be playing it again.

If you can disregard the classic blades of chaos and button mashing style fighting model of the previous games then I would consider this the best God of War of all time. Obviously the graphics are superior on this platform but, aside from that, the more methodical combat and RPG-esque skill and equipment system it totally rises above the previous games in terms of gameplay. I love it. This is certainly a contender for GOTY and may just be the new standard is single player storytelling.

I'm also really digging the Norse mythology and I was very intrigued by all the Greek stuff in all of the original games.

Many people love this game but I have one question why did they moved to Norse Mythology when Kratos was from Greek Mythology. Secondly they have changed game dynamics and new God OF War is much aslike Assassins Creed Origin. P.S I have not played new one but I have seen gameplay videos about it.

I don't feel like it is like assassin's Creed. Maybe I'm not far enough in the game yet? It's linear but with exploration available but in general there is one way to get to your destination. I too wonder why they changed the lore of the game. I didn't play god of war 3 so I'm not sure if I missed anything in relation to this one.

The first question can’t be answered without spoilers. I mean if I told you and you read it it would ruin the end of the game entirely.

I don’t think it’s much like assassins creed at all.

However each time I play this game I am reminded of what I expected from the console and why I bought a ps4. Playing in HDR and seeing Altheim was awesome.

Oh and dark elves, I hate fighting them. I keep forgetting if you launch them into the air they will recover and fly away lol

I still am having trouble with the controls in God of War. It’s not that they are bad or anything, it’s just that there is so much shit to control with all of the shoulder buttons, that I get confused and mix shit up. The different combinations to do the specials and holding buttons while pushing another, then pressing the face buttons to do other specials or to get the axe to fly back to you. I wouldn’t say it’s clunky (well maybe a little) but more that I'm still not used to it yet.

I played for like an hour last night and didn’t progress the story at all, but I did some “side quests” I guess you would call them, which were still fun as shit and earned me a bunch of experience. I also met these 2 enemies that I was hardly doing ANY damage to and they kill me in one hit. I almost beat them by running and throwing my axe at them for like 7 minutes, but then one of them got me and I died.

I'm probably only going to be skimming this thread at this point because I just don't want stuff to be spoiled and I'm definitely going to be playing this at a slower pace than most people in here seem to be.

I agree the controls are tough to get used to. Specifically, the click R3 and L3 for the Spartan rage and then click only R3 when you stun an enemy. There are a lot of buttons to use for combos but they are mostly either r1 and r2 combinations.

I haven't found any side quests. I just finished up at the light temple and was wondering when I'd be able to go an look for side misisons. The game does not make this apparent or obvious. I'm also going to stay away from spoilers here unless I get stuck on something.

you guys realize there are other options for controls right?
Doesn't really matter what they are mapped to, it still would have all of these button combinations. And good luck trying to press Square and Circle at the same time, or Triangle and X at the same time. It's much easier to do all of these cross button presses with triggers.

Unless you are referring to like some sort of "easy" control scheme or something. I haven't looked at any control options.

There are a lot of different actions with the L and R buttons but you just gotta practice. I've actually done quite a bit of control testing between fights to try and learn the moves. I kinda have to because I'm dumb and chose the more challenging difficulty out of the gate.

My only issue is that on one of my controllers the "R1" button is sticking a bit... which is kind of a bummer in this game with the default control scheme lol

Yes there are a lot of different attacks especially to unlock and I often end up holding r2 which does a different move than I intended and I get wrecked lol. It’s especially tough when you have combos involving Atreus. Like when he chokes an enemy and you send them flying it can do extra damage but you have to not only pay attention to your own actions but what Atreus is doing as well for it to be of any use. It is confusing, no other way for me to describe it.

Also don’t get me started on accidentally triggering spartan rage when I click L3 to sprint then click R3 to lock a target but I do it too fast(or at the same time I guess) and oops I waste spartan rage on fodder enemies.

you can cancel spartan rage by clicking L3+R3 again

I never understood people watching single player games. I just don't "get" it since the enjoyment of a game comes from actually playing it.

If you don't own a PS4, buy one.

I'm amazed at what they managed to do with the game on a PS4. The environments are just so incredible. I'm really starting to get the hang of the combos and move set now too and battles are super awesome and satisfying. I wish some resources weren't so scarce but I realize I'm fairly early on in the game. Only a few hours a night to play but I feel the pace of the game is just right for me.

I played around 80hrs of Origins and have been playing God of War and God of War PS4 is only semi-open and only semi open in certain parts of the game. It's not a vast open world like Assassin's Creed Origins is. Also there's no sneaking around or stealth kills in God of War and Origins fighting is still extremely basic compared to God of War.
