The voice acting is what I dislike the most. There's like 4 actors for the entire cast. Just feels cheap and lazy. But that is typical for a bethesda game I suppose.

Wot?

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1706601/fullcredits#cast

Matthew Perry ... Benny (voice)
Wayne Newton ... Mr. New Vegas (voice)
Kris Kristofferson ... Chief Hanlon (voice)
Ron Perlman ... Narrator (voice)
Zachary Levi ... Arcade (voice)
William Sadler ... Victor (voice)
Rene Auberjonois ... Mr. House (voice)
Michael Dorn ... Marcus (voice)
Danny Trejo ... Raul the Ghoul (voice)
John Doman ... Caesar (voice)
Felicia Day ... Veronica (voice)
Dave Foley ... Yes Man (voice)
Rob Corddry ... Billy Knight (voice)
Michael Hogan ... Doc Mitchell (voice)
Alex Rocco ... Big Sal (voice)

etc x infinity

I appreciate your list brother. But I've heard the same voice used for at least 4 or 5 NAMED characters. Its an issue.

That list doesn't mean a whole lot when you obviously hear the same voice over and over for different named characters.

I don't get you people, why always criticize and blubber about so much. Do you really think that out of, I don't know, 200 named NPCs Beth/Obsidian will employ 200 different actors for the voices?!!??

Every big named games it's always the same: GAME'S BROKEN! VOICE ACTING BAD! I WOULD HAVE MADE IT BETTER! BETH YOU SUCK! etc...

The simple enjoyement of gaming and gaming for enjoyement got lost...sad!

No ill feelings.

Wow. Seriously?
I think I said the only negative thing I can come up with would be the voice acting, that's it. Calm the fuck down. I never said the game sucks or is broken. As a matter of fact in this very thread I said the game is good, even better than FO3.

And yes you're right, this goes on and on, every game has voice acting shittyness. Jesus, when you have this many characters in the game you could at least change the pitch of the voice or something similar if you're going to use the same actor. Come on man it's not that big a deal. If I have to listen to the kid curse for 5 minutes in Nestor or whatever, then hear the SAME godamned voice from 2 NCR goody two-shoes rangers not 10 minutes later, it's fucking lame.

Now go enjoy your Friday :)

Yeah the part in caps was not directed to you Lumathix, sorry for the misunderstanding.

But you'll have to agree that nowadays, every big games that get out on the shelves is always followed by shitty comments about how the game is broken...that's what makes me sorta sad.

Anyway like I just said, it was not directed to you personaly, just the general "negative croud of gamers" out there...

Peace!

No problem dude.
I've got a question regarding companions. Is there a way to see their "encumbrance" level. Like you can tell when your personal encumbrance is say 201 of 220 using your pipboy. But I don't see how to tell when Boone or ED-E are getting close to being full, till Boone says "It's gonna be hard trying to cover you if I can't move my legs."

I asked myself the same question yesterday. Can't find a way to tell.

I bought the CE guide from Prima and in there it says that companions have an "estimated" carrying capacity of 200...but nothing much accurate...

even if we know the number, we'll have to add every thing we give them to know exactly how they carry...

Would be nice to patch this tho...and simple to add that number in the companion inventory screen.

When I read all these comments about the "poor voice acting" and "I would have done it this way" I can only think of that kid in the Blizzard(?) YouTube clip.

Relax. It's only a game.

I can tell encumbrance on my pinwheel when I click on the NPC.

Click on teammate -> hover over inventory (don't click) -> read the number shown below inventory, should be like 200 / 240 or something like that.

Also, I don't think complaining about voice acting in this game is valid. It certainly is nowhere near as bad as Oblivion and I think they've got a good enough cast that it shouldn't be a problem. Basically the voice acting is only a problem if you are actively digging for problems

Oh and can I just say how amazing this freakin UI mod is?! It's not MTUI but the other one, I love that it shrunk the font size and I can see like 10 dialogue choices without scrolling. I also like what they did to the stat screen, so I can see all of my meters on 1 screen instead of clicking around. It's almost a no-brainer and really shows how stupid and console-esque the default pipboy UI is. I wish I had installed the mod sooner, it's practically a no-brainer.

Mods I've installed:
- Some UI fix mod
- Categorizer mod (puts like mag: in front of magazines and aid: in front of items, so that they all show up sorted by type instead of just name)

I'm going to be looking for other mods that people consider 'must-haves' pretty soon. The 2 I listed are definite must haves in my opinion.

Good to know, i'll give that a look.

I heard about the mod that let you continu playing after the end (which I thought would be implemented in vanilla NV) and one that remove the "virtual legs" on ED-E so he doesn't blow off mines when he pass over them.

There's another one that maybe i'll try which add more realism in the gun fights so that headshots are headshots...on bullet then you're out and it's for you AND your ennemies...

Looks like there lots of good mod out there already!

If devs are going to keep pushing features like "full voice for all NPCs!" then they should probably also mention that many of those characters will be voiced by the same damn person. At least use a different accent! I heard the Oblivion Guard's voice actor on the radio the other day advertising some product and all I could think of was how annoying that was in the game.

It was the single most annoying thing in Oblivion, and I'm disappointed that it's still an issue. Using the same voice for multiple characters brings the game's story/lore to a jarring stop.

Ah, I always remembered him as Commodore Perry, not Matthew Perry.

I'm 31 hours in and just made it to Primm. Am I about halfway through the game yet? I've explored practically everywhere that allows me to without getting me insta killed and seen everything.

BTW, whats up with this shitty voice acting. When their mouth moves, many times the words dont match up with their mouths. Its like watching a damn spaghetti western meets Godzilla movie.

Also, is there a mod to make character movement more like Tresspasser, where you have to bend down and pick up each weapon individually and hold it out in front of you to shoot? As it is, its not very realistic.

Thx in advance

Can you remember the name of this UI mod you have so enthusiastically endorsed?

31 hours to get to Primm? That's...odd. I hit Primm as soon as I finished all the quests lines in Goodsprings, easily within 3 hours of starting the game.

The talking to mouth movement is a shortcoming of the engine itself, not the acting. I think the voice acting in this game is head and shoulders above what was in Fallout 3.

You want to take a control mechanic from what it widely considered to be the worst game ever control wise? I'm not sure anyone will be lining up to create a mod to facilitate that request :).

Anyone else had to deal with save game corruption?? Every time i try to gather the 3 components for the brotherhoods mission any save i make during or after that causes the game to crash when i try to load it, autosaves and all. :'(
