I took the perk for extra skill points per level and I'm getting ready to sink my 10th "perk point" into Intense Training. Not sure what I'll go for after that. Maybe Explorer so I can find every location.

Got it monday, had one hard crash and one annoying bug but the game is awesome (with the cowboy repeater sometimes vats locks up). Running 19x1080 on an i7 with two screens, constantly on the 2nd screen too. ~lvl 10 almost to new vegas.

Only 2 locations left to discover. I took the explorer perk and have been making my way around. My favorite weapon is the ballistic fist.

Sorry for the n00b question, but how do you play with two screens?

I've been trying to explore every area over the last couple of days, and now I'm stuck and don't know what is left. I don't have a printer to print of the complete map, and there's no way to know if I have discovered all of the locations or not, since the last location can't be found until the end of the game.

Didn't you get the explorer perk?

No because I figured it was the kind of thing I could do on my own, and my character would benefit more from another perk. I'm at level 30 too, so I can't take any other perks.

I've been fast travelling everywhere looking for empty arrows, but it's taking a while. Do you know how many locations there are? I can't find through google for some reason. I'm at 177, I think there's 187.

I believe there were 216 primary locations according to the Prima guide - but I have to check it again when I get home since I'm at work.

NVM - I guess there are 187 quick travel locations?

Something like this works...

Plus,

When in doubt, mod it out. ;)

Actually si FO3 and NV set up for dual display? For example, it'd be cool if I can have a second display permanently showing a Pipboy or a Map. Wouldn't you agree?

I played for like 8 hours in my last session and I feel like I got almost nowhere. Wow this is a big game. I can waste an hour or two just exploring a new town and talking to everyone.

Yup - exploring in new Vegas seems more rewarding than fallout 3. I've found a couple of nice sniper rifles, mini nuke launcher, and the tesla canon. Sniper rifles are my new favorites (need to see how they do against death claws)

Back when I mmo'd in Star wars galaxies and wow, I'd spend hours just exploring to see if I could find anything new or unique.

Grrr...I can't seem to bring myself to be a bad guy. How do you accomplish anything going around just killing people? Any and everybody I find I just kill.

Well, you don't have to be a serial killer to be bad

2 screens is not a supported mode, the game 'likes' to be in full screen mode

tonight has been abysmal for any attempt at playing, but I"m going to go with "I'm too drunk to troubleshoot" over "the game's a broken useless POS, I need to return it" for the moment anyway ... I have a hunch even as drunk as I am that the game may just be as broken as some of the reviews say it is.

I added this last night and it drastically improved the graphics and FPS! I recommend this to anyone who hasn't done this yet.

I just made it to the strip last night after I think about 20ish hours and Level 14. I'm frustrated I'm here at work and can't be at home playing!

Another bump for this! Great improvement!

I know it's been said before, but DAMN... This game is huge. 30+ hours in and I haven't hit the strip. A welcome departure from the typically short 'modern' game.

Make sure you guys all head to Vault 11 - it's absolutely fantastic (but a tad difficult depending on level).

A lot of "go here and do this" quests definitely help extend the # of hours it will take you to finish the game.

Just hit level 20 and took the explorer perk - only missed 3 areas in the south. :)

Sniper rifles + lvl 19/20 = very quick demise to Death Claws [and pretty much everything else south of Vault 19]. I suspect I'll hit level 30 long before I hit Vegas...

I need to find a way to breath underwater eventually...

Check out the Boomers in the NE corner of the map

I've done a lot of fixes and updated a lot of things. I totally agree with you on this part.

What it comes down to however is the game itself - as I have reluctantly found out after various troubleshooting posts. Caravan cards and item duplicates seem to be the major reason for CTD's. Morale of the story is to travel as light as possible.

No kidding man. I just finished the game after ~70 hours of play and theres probably another 40+ hours of gameplay left if I explored everything and did all the other missions. I doubt I'll go back and do them any time soon (the only thing I really regret not doing is massacring the powder gangers at the NCR correctional facility - it was on my to do list like all game and then I just forget about it at the end). Very entertaining though, and virtually bug free (except for a few broken missions) on the X360. Hardcore mode is more of an annoyance than a real increase in difficulty level. Once you get a few fast travel locations its not hard to make a few rounds every couple days and pick up supplies when you need them, and food can be found EVERYWHERE anyways. What it all really boils down to is weight - you have to carry around the water and food which takes up weight, and ammo takes up a lot of weight as well once you get into guns with heavier ammos (anti-material rifle ftw). Having two companions can definitely help, but the inventory management gets tedious.

I just watched Escape From LA and it occurred to be that Fallout 3 totally ripped off John Carpenter.

That is all.

Man Boone is a fucking monster, I might have to drop him just because he is too strong. It's cool that he is a useful companion, but he's like 6x stronger than me in every way and it's just weird. I have trouble killing things and he 1 shots them from 900 yards away when their head pops over a hill or something. Also I gave him a rebar so whenever things get close he pulls out this giant metal pole with concrete on the end and smashes them into pieces. It's sort of ridiculous.
