2 Any Idea when standalone Ageia Physix cards will eb available to teh consumer? PCI? PCI-E?PCI-E 16X?

well in the demo im not blowing things up as much as i wanted to so i dont feel a need to have one yet. im not gonna sit there and look for things to blow up. at least in cs theres barrels and cups that fly when theres a nade. i know there are some cups here too but i dont need a physics card to throw a cup across the screen

Not too impressed with the game so far graphically and this is with high-quality textures enabled (it looks a lot like Rainbow Six Lockdown). It plays smoothly enough at 1440x900 but gameplay wise it's good.

Couldnt agree more.

Absolutely agree. HL2 looks and runs better for crying out loud and its two years old!!!!

well, heres a breather. it runs on my computer, with 512MB PC4000 dual channel ram, intel p4 2.4C (not OCed), geforce3 which is OCed.

okay fine, it runs the menu just fine, but when i load a game up, it just shows a black screen, but the sounds are awesome!

lol.

Stupid GRIN software didn't include the HIGH texture option in the game video settings, as a result the game doesn't look that great, I ran it on widecreen 1440x900. GUess the demo size would be huge with thte high texture option.

I read an interview stating that you need a 512mb card to get the high texture options and the highest res your monitor handles. I noticed the demo didn't allow me to select my monitors native res (1680x1050) but I was able to select 1440x900. Wierd that they did that. Maybe you can muck around with that settings xml file and put everything on high. If you do and notice a difference please post medium vs high pics!

are you absolutely sure? because I just changed the settings to high in the renderer_settings doc and all i noticed was the same picture quality. I doubt they'd include the full graphics, but the HDR makes the game scream for AA.

Here just took some samples:

Every setting for texture High from the back with 8xAA (not working due to HDR) and 16AS
http://img239.imageshack.us/my.php?image=drawhigh0fc.jpg
http://img97.imageshack.us/my.php?image=high5yh.jpg

All settings high with MEdium tecxtures with 16AF

http://img89.imageshack.us/my.php?image=low4ml.jpg
http://img89.imageshack.us/my.php?image=low10qj.jpg
http://img89.imageshack.us/my.php?image=low26zk.jpg

As you can see, there is no high texture setting, they puposely didnt include it in the demo, thats what i think.

Hopefully in the next Ghost Recon it'll be huge with buildings you can enter. That to me is the biggest flaw in the game. Huge environment, yea but only outdoors.

yea..I think you are right. I guess the file size would have been too big. I really would like to see a medium vs high texture comparison from anyone who has the full version.

The game looks a bit different from the 360 version from the little I played. On the 360 the HDR effect is almost too strong while the effect on the pc demo is pretty subtle. Then again maybe its brighter in other stages in the retail version.

didn't notice that. You are right..no indoor stages?? Guess they just wanted to show off the engine with just outdoor stages since it has decent draw distance. I hope for indoor stuff next time too.

I played with the game for a bit, not bad. Ran it on my 7600GT @ 580/1500 at 12x9 with 4x AF. It felt like I was getting around in the 30s-low 40s as far as framerate was concerned, but I didn't get to record it.

The GR series has always been a little slow to me, though. I usually prefer more faster paced games, but I usually still enjoy the slower gameplay as long as it is good.

okay dont get me wrong here, but I hope this isn't what the game actually looks like on high, just compared the 2 modes again and noticed the minor detail in the floor, thats about the only difference i see in the high and low texture, nothing else...oh boy....just hope they have something more in the full game

here compare again:

http://img239.imageshack.us/my.php?image=drawhigh0fc.jpg

and now look at http://img89.imageshack.us/my.php?image=low4ml.jpg

Again look at http://img97.imageshack.us/my.php?image=high5yh.jpg

and now http://img89.imageshack.us/my.php?image=low26zk.jpg

Edit: especially on a TWIMTBP title.

it displays an ATI logo when loading...

I guess you dont want such a good improvement with CF enabled?

Increases over 100% indicate a driver or engine bug holding back single card performance is all i was saying. ATi is notorious for releasing drivers a few days after a big title is released that irons out goofy issues.

Nvidia traditionally takes longer if theres a problem, but has a better track record of games working as intended on release.

Anyone try the Ageia 2.4.2 drivers? For my X2 4200+ they seem to use 10-15% less CPU.
[Run the Ageia Box App "C:\Program Files\AGEIA Technologies\bin\AGEIAPhysXBoxes.exe"]

Running GRAW DEMO on my 7900GT, I didn't see the High Textures option and assumed
it was a DEMO file size issue. Textures eat a lot of space, but I have no idea if that was
the case. The lack of AA and high-end settings are angering quite a bit of people! :D

I would be very surprised if the full GRAW disappoints. Expect -way- better graphics and
a great story, along with those stunning weapons and options. DEMO was good for me,
can't wait those two weeks 'til release.

The 2.4.2 drivers lowered my CPU use down 10% over the drivers that came with the Demo. I dunno if the High Textures are going to be in the full version but I hope so.

SLI shows the same thing. Now what do you think?

Thanks for that, I wasn't sure but that's good news. I like how Ageia's engine still runs, like Havok and any other physics engine, without anything special. Of course it doesn't run anywhere near as good as it would with the Physx hardware, and probably lacks features, but after learning this I think I can live without $300 Physx hardware. ..For a while.

This game is so .... static, linear and primitive. I don't even consider it "Ghost Recon". Thanks they released a Demo, because I ain't gonna buy it. But yes I know that's just me. If you like it, good for you, it won't be my money wasted on that ... thing.

Does anyone see a difference with dynamic lights enabled/disabled? I seriously see no visual difference, i even took some screens and benched it. They look identical, while i lost 3 fps with it enabled.....

I havent tried any higher resolutions than that but you can change it in the config XML file within the GRAW folders.

Works for me fine at 1680 x 1050 on the full version.

Runs like butter on a opty 165 at 2.9ghz with a x1900xt with Everything on HIGH retail version.
