Ghost in the Shell (2017) Movie

Anime fans will cringe at this. I hope they don't pull a DB. Most likely not since they are using A* celebs. Also why Scarlet? White trashing much? Why can't they use a good looking Chinese women? There are plenty of good looking A* Asian actors. The milking is real here. I'm not sold.

Did the manga author ever actually state what race the cyborg Motoko Kusanagi was based on? Hell, it could be a white girl for all we know.

And, I wonder if Motoko will run around calling people 'ape face', because that sounds racist as fuck.

Yes he did and most famous Mangas don't use white people as the Protagonist.

They prob will add that, if they don't stick the source material then why call this GoTS. Fans will cry

I'm not optimistic from the trailer. The trailer looks like stylized shit.

But I'm willing to have an open mind... for the BR disc or something. I won't bother going to see this in the theatre unless the reviews are excellent. I also have a soft spot for Juliette Binoche, and never thought she'd be doing a sci-fi/fantasy flick.
 
looks like it could be good visually, unless it is just masturbatory with pointless camera tricks.

But I'm not sure if it's worth seeing the 38th version of this film.
 
"White trashing" - Heh. Don't know if that's a mistake or not, but it's an amusing term, albeit in a non-politically correct sort of way.

I can't think of a single Asian woman that would be a big enough box office draw to American audiences while being a top notch actress though, so I'm not surprised they went with the whitewashed alternative. While I would have preferred somebody ethnically a better fit for the role, I can't blame them either since it's their big bux on the line, and it's heavily aimed towards Western audiences.

For example, Chloe Bennet is popular, but probably not popular enough and also isn't as good of an actor. Her body type isn't the same either. Maggie Q is in the same boat.

That is the sane argument. A movie that is going to be released primarily for the American market will want big box office drawing actors. Unfortunately, Asians are underrepresented and so they don't get those roles.
 
The Major is just a brain case in the movies and anime. Her shells (bodies the brain is planted into) can be any race, and the ones in the original movie and Stand Alone Complex anime series look more Caucasian than Japanese to me.

So nope, not "white trashing" 😉 to cast ScarJo.

Yeah, it's a bit of a chicken vs. the egg thing, but when it's your own $200 million bux on the line, it's harder to be "progressive".

I have no hope for this film it will fail you watch. The anime was a masterpiece. Who knows maybe I'm wrong but I can't see this getting anywhere 30% on rotten tomatoes

well, whatever this is, I would say it's already better because it isn't a cartoon. That thing made me fall asleep way back when I watched it.

No your wrong. No live action adaption is better than the original. I can't think of one. Who knows maybe this will surpass the anime I doubt it though. Not everyone is into anime especially the older generation they find it weird.

Forgot to mention this... Don't care for the music in the trailer. Not sure why they didn't use something more electronic or a Japanese pop song.

I found it refreshing we didn't have dub step and anything pop wouldn't have made any sense.

Because the movie is not Japanese. They wont use the OST etc i say it again the movie will flop. Haterz gunna h8.
