another one of those "woman runs on the wall and the men with machine guns cant shoot her...."

so over done along with the run at the man with the machine gun and she can flip in the air or slide between his legs or somehow spin around up like a stripper pole and wind up sitting on his shoulder and flips him...

suprised there is not a 3 point landing in there someplace.

Hollywood needs a new stunt coordinator pool.

I started the GITS with Innocence and my impression was the Major was of Japanese origin, like most of the population where they worked. There wasn't anything to suggest otherwise to me. By the way, I must have grown up around non-racists since we always used the term caucasian as white, and not specifically whites from Europe. Out ignorance, I guess. Still, the major should have been Japanese in this film, and titties should be in it and certainly not obligatory.

Forgot to mention this... Don't care for the music in the trailer. Not sure why they didn't use something more electronic or a Japanese pop song.

Recognition sells better. If you use music no one knows or fancies in the US in a language no one understands people won't have much interest in it. If you use music they know and like they'll feel more of a bond with the movie.

Not particularly fond of the action scenes either btw, nor of the choice of the lead actrice. Nor most of the special effects shown. May still see the movie at some point when I don't have anything better to do and it doesn't cost me anything.

Well, if you want to really get technical, not all of Europe is considered "equal."

Tron Legacy had all new music with Daft Punk, in a somewhat different style than they known for. And it was awesome. Best sci-fi soundtrack in a long time IMO.

It's interesting that the trailer seems to imply that the Major has no memory of her life before being cyberized. This is contrary to the anime series (Stand Alone Complex), in which it is shown she has full memories of her life before being cyberized, and in fact it was a struggle for her to accept having a full prosthetic body. If I remember correctly, she was in a bad car accident and had to accept a prosthetic body to survive, at a very young age. This made her feel somewhat alienated from humanity.

Looks like this movie will be heavily based on the first anime movie, with the Puppetmaster. I wonder if they will preserve the ending though?

I'll definitely watch it - I'm hoping it will be surprisingly good.

Trick is, they really aren't trying to sell this to Anime Fans.

Action? X
Famous Actor? X
Hot Chick? X
Edgy/Trending/Hot Material? X

Print money.

To be honest, I'd go see it no matter what Loved the original anime when I saw it a million years ago.
I would also pay money to watch Scarlet watch paint dry too.

Stand Alone Complex anime series look more Caucasian than Japanese to me.

Yep, Makamoto is about as Asian as a California roll.

The movie will probably suck as a GITS live action movie, be moderate/lame as an action movie, and make a fortune. Fans will hate it, everyone else will forget it like they did Aeon Flux. But it won't be because they cast a white person to play a cyborg instead of <insert Asian looking person>.

Anime fans will cringe at this. I hope they don't pull a DB. Most likely not since they are using A* celebs. Also why Scarlet? White trashing much? Why can't they use a good looking Chinese women? There are plenty of good looking A* Asian actors. The milking is real here. I'm not sold.
Why would they use a Chinese actress? The ghost in the shell manga was Japanese.

My bad I thought I said Japanese lol. Regardless what actress they use they should at least give the role to an asain women imo.

Anime and live action dont work in the west. Look at Death note live action for example, it was good, they stick to the source material etc just look at that and tell me why they cant use japs actors/actress for GITS pretty simple they want to make mega cash so sad nowadays :(

Here's a PSA:

1) Jap is considered a derogatory term for Japanese. I wouldn't suggesting using that in modern conversation, even if WW2 grandpa uses it. In fact, I'd say that's worse than whitewashing a comic book character.

2) Jap also means Jewish American Princess.

The Major is just a brain case in the movies and anime. Her shells (bodies the brain is planted into) can be any race, and the ones in the original movie and Stand Alone Complex anime series look more Caucasian than Japanese to me.

So nope, not "white trashing" ;) to cast ScarJo.
One of the first things I noticed when I started watching anime was the fact that the characters, the GOOD characters anyway, are always drawn as caucasoid. It's very rare that you see them drawn as Asian. Generally it's the bad guys/scum that are depicted as Asian and then in the most stereotypical and derogatory way possible. To this day I don't understand why that is but it's a fact that i've seen in dozens upon dozens of anime. In total I've probably watched between 50 and 100 different series at least.

the thing is no one knows. Kids nowadays will instantly think every anime characters are japs because every anime series they all speaks jaoanese you see the logic here? Look at attack on titan they don't look jap they look casucasoid and yet the live action they used all japz. So really no one will know. Dam my gramma is so guud does that mean I'm not English? Am I causiasion?

Wtf am I even saying loooool I'm so bored

I'm just saying it's insulting to use the term "Japs" to refer to Japanese. You might think nothing of it, but it really is a big deal to some people. To some, it's like the n word for African-Americans. Would you call people from Pakistan Pakis?

Trailer looks ok I guess. I remember watching the original anime version along time ago and the trailer kind of looks similar. Honestly though I don't think I will go see this one at the theater. I'm to far removed from that scene now.
