Christ, whats it is with a thread where someone is genuinely concerned with/has a serious problem with something that brings the assholes out of the woodwork.

if they are so freaking concerned wtf is he asking ATOT?
the LAST place I come when real life issues hit are a freaking message board..
so freaking bite my ass..
yes im an asshole and damn proud of it...
and hes a dumbass who would rather ask a board full of computer nerds than to call the hospitols, law enforcement or other more relevent sources.

Agreed.

I'd have to disagree, and yes, you're an asshole. So is the prick that said his girlfriend is banging another dude. Seriously, why the mods don't start deleting people with prejudice around here is beyond me.

It took him a minute to post that, during which I'm sure he was following up on the more obvious routes of discovery. In a crisis it's always worthwhile to consult others for process advice or to perhaps tap the knowledge of someone professional that lurks here. In my opinion it's wise, he has little to lose, and can feel good that he did his best if the worst becomes known.

If I were the OP I wouldn't post back, period.

Earlier this year a girl from my univ went to NYC on a friday, went missing for a few weeks, nobody knew where she was. A few weeks later her body was found in the Hudson river. Apparantly she jumped off the GW bridge. :(

Exactly. Post here, do some Google searches, make a few calls, check back to see if someone here mentions an alternate option, or posts a better phone number (as was done), and follow up with those.

You know man, at first I was angry with all the jerks in this thread making fun of you, but now I see you're no better. Wtf, you come here with a real problem several people try to help you and you just leave us hanging.

I realize your attention might be elsewhere right now, but majority of people here are genuinely concerned. So you apparently had time to go online and say that you're flying to NYC, yet you failed to tell us if everything is ok or not. This leads me to believe that you're either made this up as a cry for attention or just an ungrateful brat you can't appreciate when other people are being concerned. This is exactly the reason why I try to stay away from posting advice in such threads.

You don't suppose he hasn't posted back because a) he's on an airplane, or b) he's somewhere else, away from a computer? If I was in this situation I know where my priorities would be. The internet community can wait.

Just read what some posted above my last reply.

She's banging a hospital bed.

Yet, he has time for a sarcastic reply? Again, best of luck to him and his girlfriend, but either tell us what's happening or don't say anything at all. No need to syringer us. Despite what the OP thinks many of us in this thread are genuinely concerned.

I knew that ATOT was not the place to go for resolving real-life issues, too until my friend's best friend had gone missing (remember Sharon Santos?) and I posted a plea here. Eventhough most members didn't live in Los Angeles and were unable to physically help, most were gracious and offered their thoughts and prayers. I, in-turn, kept them updated with several news links and such until the unfateful day that they discovered her body. :(

Sometimes, you just feel that you need to be heard, even if it means that total strangers are the ones that are sympathizing with you.

Vonkhan -- Best of luck finding out what happened to your GF and I hope it's nothing serious. When you're ready, feel free to update us.

My GF lives in NYC. I heard from her last on Friday night before she was going to go out with some friends.

She hasn't come back to her apartment since.

I've tried getting in touch with some of her friends and got in contact with 1 person who hasn't since her since Thursday.

The last activity on her bank account was on early Friday evening. She hasn't checked her e-mail since then either.

There is the possibility that she might have dumped me but she's not the kind of person who do that without a phone-call. Also, that's no reason for her not to access her bank account or check her e-mail.

At this point, I"m only concerned about her safety.

I don't live in NYC and have never been in this kind of a situation before.

Should I call the police or the hospitals? I have no idea what to do next.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

:( no update?
