It's already the law here in Ontario AFAIK. You're supposed to yield to faster cars as soon as it's safe to do so. Some still refuse to move though. They'll be a massive line of traffic behind them and a huge opening beside them but they'll still putt along at 100km/h or less. Usually some soccer mom in a minivan.

Traffic in Toronto is worst than LA. No, I'm not exaggerating. So yes, this does cause traffic jams. Very frequently.

I've never sped in my life, and I get sick of tail gaters and fuckers who flip me off because I chose to go the speed limit in the middle lane. I don't break laws and speeding's breaking the law. Fuck people who speed. I was posting a story about a town where anyone who speeds gets a ticket in the mail. This should be everywhere, AZ's apparently way ahead of the curve here.
Point One: How fast you are going is irrelevant to the discussion. If you are being passed on the right you are too far left. If you are staying even with the traffic on the right, you are too far left.

Point Two: With very few exceptions, the speed cameras around Phoenix got shutdown because they pissed off too many people as pretty much everybody knew the purpose was revenue generation, not highway safety. It particularly pissed people off that a for-profit company with incentive to maximize the number of tickets issued was running the cameras under contract by ADOT and cities who also had incentive to maximize the number of tickets issued. Also, paying the tickets was basically optional. AZ law requires that tickets be served in person. Tickets by mail didn't pass muster and were not legally binding. People simply threw the tickets away.

This is a bullshit policy.

I'll continue to do my 10-15mph over the speed limit in the left lane, and pull to the right if a car slowly creeps up on me. When I see a car with his left directional on doing 90+ that quickly pulls up behind me and tails me, I will stick with MY "policy" of slowing down to the speed limit until he passes me on the right.

I do the same shit here, except I'm on cruise control and I basically turn the shit off and slow down just to piss someone off. Dude, I'm already going 75-85mph, and you wanna go faster? Sure, just don't tailgate me, or else you're paying with a brake check.

How about you two no talent ass clowns get in the driving lane instead of trying to assert your authority over someone else? Sounds like small penii syndrome to me.

Driving lane sucks when you are already doing 10-15mph over the speed limit. I don't want to spend my whole drive switching lanes to pass people doing the speed limit.

We were talking about not yielding to asses that speed up behind you and insist on tailgating you, not normal people that are simply going faster, genius.

Seattle is the WORST for this. The cops actually started ticketing for it. Sadly, there's been no improvements.

Then buy a plane.

Seriously, I never do this (creep or tailgate someone in the left lane if they're already doing 10 over). What I will do is find someone who is going a speed I agree with and set my cruise to stay a particular distance from him. Bam.

But say someone wants to pass? Yeah, I'll let him pass. How lazy are you fucks that you seriously can't just move over and let the faster traffic pass? You are DRIVING not being chauffeured.

And who are you to use the speed limit on your side of the argument? Same assholes are probably the first ones to complain when they get a speeding ticket.

Let the faster people pass, if they get caught? Bad for them, good for you.

If you're going to piss people off on the roads, bad for everyone. Pull the fuck over. You are not the one willing to go the fastest on the roads, so don't be in the left lane.

Nice idea in theory but it wont work.

It's illegal here to block traffic in the right hand land (we drive on the correct side of the road) but it's never enforced.

If it's not enforced it wont change the behaviour of shitty, dangerous drivers. If you want to drive slow move to the left!

I agree, for the most part, that pass on the left, yield to faster traffic, etc., but only to a point. If the right lane is moving along at 65 in a 65, and I'm in the left lane going 73 pulling a 3500 pound boat while passing a string of 10 cars going 65, you can be damn well assured that I don't care that you believe "yield to faster traffic" means that you have the right to go absolutely as fast as you want with your radar detector. I'm passing that long line of cars, and I'm not changing my speed, regardless of you flashing your high beams, etc. (edit: besides, with my wife in the passenger seat, I don't dare go any faster, or she'll start complaining.)

And, if someone going 67 pulls out in front of me to pass someone going 65, I simply slow down and don't tailgate. They have every bit of right to do so; life goes on.

It's frustrating when only given two lanes each way here in Maine. I don't like speeding much but I can't stand the oblivious assholes that merge without looking so I tend to stay in the left lane so I don't suffer road rage...

The speed limits are too low.
Increase highway speeds by 10mph and left laners would be less likely to stay in the left lane.

Agreed. The best example I can think of around here is I-95 N/S. The speed limit is 55mph (WTF?) but cars never drive below 65mph. It's not uncommon to see 70-75mph in the left lane. Cops will almost never pull you over unless you're going extra fast, like 80+.

I agree, but when you have the guy in the right lane going 61mph and the guy in the left lane going 61.5mph, it's frustrating as hell and they need to GTFO of the way. I understand when semi trucks do it, but if you're in a car you can certainly speed up a little so you're not blocking the left lane for minutes to pass one car.

I thought it was customary and an unwritten rule that outside of major cities - Los A, NYC, Boston, etc. - in highways with 2 or more lanes, if you were in the left side, you go in the right if you are slower than the person behind you.

This rarely happens in LA from the brunk of my driving experience (10 years there), but outside of there once you head to LV or SF or something people tend to follow this rule.

Around here where? Rush hour in Palm Beach and south of it, it's usually a slow crawl due to people in each lane going 45-55 (it's 65mph posted) and nailing their brakes for no reason causing the rest of the chain to hit their brakes until traffic literally stops for 2-3 secs.

Learn to drive.

Learn to read, I seriously don't think people read posts before they sound off.

But say someone wants to pass? Yeah, I'll let him pass. How lazy are you fucks that you seriously can't just move over and let the faster traffic pass? You are DRIVING not being chauffeured.
We both said we only do this to the assholes that are driving like maniacs and tailgating us insisting on getting by, the same asshats that do what you said in your post that you don't do.

And who are you to use the speed limit on your side of the argument? Same assholes are probably the first ones to complain when they get a speeding ticket.
Because it pisses these assholes off, and still stays legal, yet according to the policy proposed in the OP that may no longer be an option, which is why I said in my OP this is bullshit. What is the point of a speed limit if they are basically stating that you need to yield for people breaking it?

Let the faster people pass, if they get caught? Bad for them, good for you.

I agree, but I still don't mind annoying jackasses that think they can do 90+ everywhere they go, regardless of the reason, they can go around me if they are in such a hurry.

Where is this utopia that you currently live where they don't pull you over unless you're doing 90mph? I want to move there. In south Texas you will get popped for doing 5mph over the limit. God help you if you're hauling ass on the wide open interstate and blast past a state trooper at 90+ mph. You will go to jail. I think it sucks, but that's the way it is.
This utopia is called california. I've been doing 85 on a 65 freeway and had a cop blow my doors off, with no lights on.
