I thought oilfield workers made tons of money right now, especially those in North Dakota....

If I was a millionaire I wouldn't give Nvidia $1000 for the titan. This is insanity. What goes on in one's mind where they can justify a purchase like this? I can't wrap my head around the thought process to get there.

Thought process of a rich mofo:

I really want that Titan. Let's check my bank account... Haha who am I kidding? I'm f!?$ing rich!

It's called freedom of choice and people liking to spend money on their hobbies. I spend my money on computers, gadgets, guns, movies, and lots of other stuff.

And because of it you probably are living in poverty. But who am I to judge. Play on player.

Yes I'm sure there are a few like that. Problem is the fanboys in this thread that live with mommy that buy them to look leet to their gaming clan.

Poverty is perception. If someone is extremely happy where they are, then they aren't likely to agree with you.

You'd be surprised what some people are happy with.

That said, I don't speculate who you quoted has any money-related issues. They may or may not - assuming otherwise is arrogant.

Well considering most people make 30k a year or less, average car purchases being 30k+, most having little to no savings it's safe to assume most people fall into this category. And sad part is they are the prime buyers for titan.

If you wish to generalize, I'd argue many people on anandtech appear to be better off than "most people". But even given that, I wouldn't speculate as to anyone's income even so.

Do you make under $30k? And are you considered "most people"?

Regardless, this is off topic. Sorry for derailing.

I must admit I'm delighted to see this monitor overclocking feature. Granted, it's not enabling the same kinds of overclocks possible on the Overlord Tempest X270OC and Yamakasi Catleap Extreme 2B, but it is making the process much more user friendly. I had fully expected monitor overclocking to remain something of an enthusiasts' pursuit for a long while to come

You say "most people" and group them in the same category as ones you buy a Titan. Most people will not buy Titan. There's a flaw in your deductive reasoning. Unless you can show me your evidence that supports these are the "prime buyers" for Titan?

Dude, you need to get over the fact that some people have disposable income and can afford to spend it on nice to have stuff without going in debt. I seriously doubt people making under 30K per year are the folks that will buy Titan.

They should rename it to GeForce Titsup to go in line with the ludicrous price increase they're trying to pull off.

Word. I have lots of disposable income and do not plan on paying the price premium. It's all about what is worth it to you. Have no issues either way.

I'll stop with the preaching of financial responsibility. It's obvious that it's an argument no one wants to hear because they "deserve" $1000 video cards. What's worse is a highly oc 7970 would be impossible to distinguish the difference without a fps counter.

Argument goes back to having enough money or not. Stupid talking point, dummies. Having "enough" is irrelevant. This cards price is huge, let's just admit it. We're all waiting to seen it's performance, but either way, it's worth it to some, not worth it to others. Simple. Why you people are talking about being too poor to afford it is stupid.

This card looks good, performance looks like it's going to be great for a single GPU, but i'm one who wishes it was just slightly lower in price.

Anyway, how much money a person has is irrelevant in this thread. Just saying.

The post I quoted and called into question has nothing to do with financial responsibility. It has to do with your overgeneralizing and grouping people in categories that you have zero basis for.

What seems to escape you is that you can buy this card and still be financially responsible. SHOCKER!

I think everyone should purchase gold grills to wear in their mouths. If you can't afford to buy one for 10k you are poor and have no disposable income. Never mind the fact it would be a colossal waste of good money. Only the poor focus on the money aspect of a purchase.
