Unlimited on your phone is entirely different than tethering. Unlimited doesn't mean you can go against the TOS that you signed up for.

Not sure why you quoted me, but the guy I quoted intended on using it as his home internet connection. So unless he also buys one of those mobile broadband connectors he would have to be tethering.

TBH people who think they can use their 4g cell connection as their houses internet connection are are a driving factor behind why we will no longer have unlimited data

Yeah because it costs them so much. <rolling eyes icon here>

You offer "unlimited" don't be upset when someone takes advantage of it. You make it sound like the user who is paying $100+ a month for service is somehow getting over on those poor wireless service providers...

You cannot be serious. At least I hope not.

I'm pretty sure the number of people who are using their cellular devices as a primary home Internet connection is infinitesimally small, and that would be including those using USB modems. Its about $$$, they want more.

Just saw a tweet from one of the CM devs earlier this morning. Samsung has sent them a SGS2 for CM development. 🙂

That is awesome. It would be even more awesome if they opened up their proprietary drivers. Samsung is learning quick.

That is pretty awesome I must admit! Hopefully that means the GS2 isn't too terribly far off from seeing our shores. I have to wait until August anyway, so hopefully some details by then!

I like where this is going. First HTC announces that they will reverse their policy on locked boot loaders on the EVO3D and other upcoming phones. Now Samsung is showing a ton of support for the dev community by actually giving them one to play with. That is awesome.

Give me LTE sg2 with a July/August release and this will be my next phone! No LTE makes it somewhat less desirable though, but I really kind of doubt it's going to ship without it.

Update: We just received word from a Verizon spokesperson that the reference to a July release was just a miscommunication and was actually in reference to the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. Yeah, we're bummed out, too.

Apple saved us the first time with their original iPhone. They actually saved the world from cell provider tyranny. Something Nokia and Motorola at height of their success couldn't do. It's clear all the companies are still US cell providers bitch except for Apple. I'm waiting for someone other than Apple to grow some balls.

O rly? I could buy unlocked Nokia phones with no contract to any provider, and have done so for the past few years. How exactly did the original iphone save us when it was available exclusively on ATT, and couldn't even be used without activation on an "authorized" carrier?
