Frys - Athlon XP 1700+ & FIC AN11 M/B $129

wow it seems like a hot deal. Doesnt an xp 1700+ by itself go for like 130+?

Anyways i think the title says it all...
Location? Frys
What? Athlon XP 1700+ FIC AN11M/B
Price? 129

the only thing he coulda put in there was the dates available but u cant always find that sort of information.

This isn't in the LA area....

The only mobos featured in the LA area ad are:

soyo dragon n a pentium 1.8 bare cpu: $259
Epox 8k7ha+ n a xp1900: $239

They Got this combo at the Norcal Fry's but the price is actually 229 not 129. It is more than it was last week at 169. Not such a great deal. They got the 1800XP Boxed plus Soyo Dragon for 299. Average deal at best.

Wow, I almost feel as if I'm OBLIGATED to work for you people or something. It's not enough I give you the info, but I have to give the DETAILS for YOU TO Benefit?

How about getting off your lazy asses and calling Fry's?

So here's the deal. I went to fry's, stood in line to buy the XP 1900+ combo for $239, but suddenly saw someone purchase a XP 1700+ and m/B for $129! I was like, wtf? I didn't see that in the ad.

Apparently, it's a HIDDEN SECRET ad in the Beach Reporter (South Bay Area, CA) .. meaning Torrance, Manhattan Beach, etc.!

Now if you want MORE details, than DON'T BUY IT.

<< Apparently, it's a HIDDEN SECRET ad in the Beach Reporter (South Bay Area, CA) >>

So this is a hidden secret in a specific location and you expect everyone to figure it out for themselves. If you want to post a hot deal without any details then expect the questions and don't be a jerkoff about it.

Why would you need to SEE the ad? I just stated exactly everything in the ad, on my first line of post! There IS NOTHING to figure out! Maybe you'd like me to hold your hand into the store and BUY the thing for you too? I don't care if nobody buys it, it does not benefit me AT ALL.

It's too bad, cause it's a sweet motherboard. It has 4 different IDE channels for a total of 8 drives possible, and raid'able.

vectorz - You got problems man. You will not last long on this board if you keep it up. Not all the frys ads are the same. They are regional, so it makes sense that people would ask which store. Then on top of that this was in the Beach Reporter which only covers the Manhattan Beach store. People on this board are detail minded and I like that. Now for all you other people who want the details, here you go:

Frys has an ad in the Beach Reporter which is a newspaper for us Southern California people. The ad might be good at other Frys, but you guys will have to try that yourself. The price is good from Feb. 28 to March 5. The combo number is 3257971 and consists of the following.

- AMD Athlon XP 1700+ bare CPU
- FIC AN11 Motherboard Featuring
- VIA KT266A chipset with socket A interface
- 1(4x) AGP: 5 PCI: 1 ACR Slots
- 3 DIMM Slots for up to 3GB of PC2100 DDR memory
- IDE RAID 0 or 1
- Quantispeed Achitecture at 1467 MHz and out performs competitive 1700MHz CPU's
- #3257971

$129

I just went and got this for myself. There were no limits. I could have bought a bunch. They had 133 motherboards and 83 processors when I got mine 30 minutes before they closed. No customers seemed to know about the deal. The only ad was in the beach reporter. I think about five people got the deal after they overheard me ask for it. I also got the $60.00 stick of PC2100 DDR. I missed out on the TCWO deal and so this makes up for it. That deal included a fan, but I think a lot of people changed it out anyway for a better one. My receipt broke down the processor as $56.00 and the motherboard as $73.00. I have 15 days to change my mind. I haven't done anything with the stuff yet except to check if my Volcano 7 fan would fit. Well it's tight. Probably too tight. What do you guys suggest as a fan for this combo? I'm going to install it in the SX830 I got at Frys last week.

EDIT - The ad was not a secret, just not widely known. I guess vectorz thought it was a conspiracy against him. I do want to thank you vectorz for giving the info (for what it's worth). I might go in the morning and get another combo. Meanwhile I got a six pack and a screwdriver, so lets get it on!

<< Apparently, it's a HIDDEN SECRET ad >>

Since when does fry's have HIDDEN SECRET ads? Everything Fry's does is loud and obnoxious.

Anybody in the Torrance, CA area to confirm this?

If this is true I could use a drive. . .
