i don't have the ad but when i ask for the deal the rep just input the sales/deal number in the system and found the deal

I know the combo number but it rang up $169 in other stores. Without proof they will not adjust the price to $129. Maybe I'll just drive down there.
 
problem being, i live 2 hours from manhattan beach but only 50 minutes from anaheim

if someone could scan the beach reporter ad, it would save some of us a really long drive.

myself and many others, im sure, would really appreciate a scanned ad.
 
I went down there today....found the Beach Reporter, but someone(probably F@ys) used black marker to cross out the price for the combo:|......they did it on all of the beach reporter ad...however, when I went to the pc component department and asked for the combo....I just simple told the guy that I saw the ad for $129, and he gave it to me without any hassle.....I also called them before I went down there....they also told me the price is $129....so...I think it's still good till Tuesday.........but I guess you have to go there(mahatten beach) to get the combo........

The Beach Reporter is a free weekly newspaper that is distributed throughout the Beach Cities. I think that's Manhattan beach, Redondo Beach and Hermosa beach. You can find it at liquor stores, 7-11's, supermarkets, etc. I thought Frys would just take all the papers out of the stand, but I think that is illegal? Marking out the ad is probably illegal too, but that's Frys for ya. Anyway if you still want to try to get one on Monday ... I suggest you stop at a store for the paper and then head to Frys. It sounds like some people are getting it without the ad, but it's just too easy to grab the paper somewhere. I will definitely be checking the Beach Reporter from now on and posting anything good I find.

I would have scanned the ad for you guys, but my desktop is torn apart while I'm building my new system 😀. I'm using my laptop now and I don't have SCSI on it for my scanner.
 
I happen to work not to far from the MB fry's. I go try this out tommarrow. I'd be willing to pick up a combo for someone else but I don't know how I'd manage payment and such. PM me if interested and give me an idea of how we'll work this out.
 
i bought two of these. i can scan my receipt (with my cc info removed of course) for you guys if i had a place to upload it.
 
I went to the MB fry's this morning. I didn't see the beach reporter anywhere. I went to the cpu/mobo counter anyway and asked for the deal but they told me it was 169 and that the ad was a price mistake. Anyone know where I could find the beach reporter? I tried the local supermarkets but none were found.
 
i went to mb frys saturday and was actually in line behind wsking. he got the $129 price and they wouldnt give it to me. i told the manager that was retarded, but he said it was an error from the printing company and they werent responsible. so sunday i drove to the frys in city of industry with my friend and the beach reporter and they didnt give us any trouble at all and just rang us both up at $129. so my advice: get a beach reporter and head to a store other than manhattan beach.
 
Well, I went in on Saturday, picked up a beach report at the entrance and found the ad on the back-cover. Appearantly, all the number "3"s were not printed correctly on the page, so the guy had a little trouble finding the code to enter in the computer. But he was able to find the code on a different ad, which I saw the combo was priced at $169. So, that's an $40 saving! The mobo looks ok, with on-board audio, I'll put
the system together tonight and see how it goes. I also picked up a 256mb pc2100 DDR for about $60 at Frys, but I need to pick up a CPU fan later this afternoon though, since the CPU wasn't retail/boxed.

if somebody would scan the ad or the receipt, i will be more than happy to host the adv. , and i also live near frys in socal, so i will help all of those w/o if i can

i have access to ups daily pick up service.
 
Went down today, got the combo no problem. Yay little plastic baggy with my first AMD CPU.

I'll get a scan of the ad up later today, i'll email it to someone who can host it. btw, they have restocked their supply of Beach Reporters at the door, none of them were blacked out.

There was a little phillipino guy handling the orders, the guy in front of me didn't have the ad and the CSA just punched it into the computer. Presto. AMD1700 + Mobo for $129.

Wahoo, I just went back thanks to Paulee and grabbed a beach reporter and heading to the cpu/mobo department. I saw another guy standing behind me with the combo and I ask if he was getting in on the deal. He showed the an add with the 169 price and I showed him the identical one with the 129 price. After getting mine printouts I handed him my ad and headed to the cashier. I didn't see many mobo's left so you better hurry if you are heading to MB. On my way out I grabber another beach reporter so I'll scan that when I get home.
