Unfortunately I have spent the past hour on the phone with 4 different CSRs, all of which were dumb as paste. To their credit they have to deal with angry customers all day long so I'll give them a break. However I am not happy with the end result.

It ends up that you can get this wonderful deal only if you use Verizon as both your DSL provider AND your ISP. In my case I need static IP addresses (I host my own domain) so I use an alternate ISP (much cheaper and they give me 5 static IPs!!). This automatically excludes me from the deal.

This is the same problem that I ran into last year when a similar deal was floating around. Good luck to everyone else!

But alas, what it came down to is the good ol' line, "I'm sorry, but I can't do anything about it".

I hope I don't get fvcked if/when they upgrade the download speed.....

I got the exact thing from my rep, she even put me on with a tech person who also insisted that I should only be getting 128/768, and my 128/1.5 should not have happened.

The tech said I was qualified for 1.5/384 though, while customer service said I could only have 1.5/128. Yet, I don't have either, I have 1.5/128.

Wait, your two options are 1.5/384 and 1.5/128. What's your point?

Edit: I asked while on the phone, and they will be increasing to 3 down by mid July. Unfortunately, you will need to call to get that increase too, but I will be scanning the press releases weekly now. ;)

You Tha Man/Woman/Person/Thing! Thanks.
Unfortunately, Verizon is Not Tha Phone Co! SO the number they give out - the one that ends "6789" -
got me nowhere/around in circles/disconnected.
Calling in for service is a trip into Orwellian Hell.
Here's the number I dialed: (888) 662-8275
THen go to online billing in their phone menu.
The guy I talked to said "yer 16,500 feet out but I put in the request anyway."
So we'll see.
You're still the Man/Woman/Person/Thing! though.

My bad, however it's explained in my 1st through 5th or so posts.

Tech: Says my line qualifies for 1.5/384.
CS: Says I can only get 768/128.
I have: 1.5/128.

I have heard of it in MA. They say it will go to about 14 states but who knows when ?

For reference, you'll want to say "DSL Billing" to get to the proper CSR when prompted.

BOY do I wish I had read this far down first.

Thanks.

OMG I'm really pissed now. They actually downgraded me to 128/768 from 128/1.5. I'm gonna have to call again :/

Woohooo. Finally got around to testing my speed and I went from the old 768/128 (speed tested at about 740/125) to what I assume is 1500/384 (measured at 1345/350).

Not True.

For an extra $10/month ($52.95 w/o $3 for cable modem rental), Comcast has their "Home Networking" package (for up to "5" computers).

4M/384K

Leastwise, in the Boston / New England area

Has anyone in Dallas gotten the upgrade by calling? I called when this post first appeared but got a CSR who told me I'd have to wait for my whole area to be upgraded. I didn't know about asking for "DSL billing", however, so I probably didn't get routed to the right place. If other people have had luck using "DSL billing", I might give it another try.

Called Verizon today, asked for DSL Billing and was on hold for about a minute. I spoke to Mindy who was very nice and helpful. I am already at 1.5/384 but I wanted my monthly bill adjusted down to the $29.95 rate. She set it up no problem and even gave me a credit for my June bill. All done in just under 10 minutes. Thanks OP.

Yea, but this might put pressure on them to boost their speeds. Remember, when Comcast first started service (after @Home) up was only 128k. Ah, but those @Home days when I used to get 1-1.5Mb up regularly...sigh...
