The update currupted whatever bios is in the modem (had a Toshiba 1100).

Comcast came yesterday to fix it, what a pain in the ass. Everything is working fine right now, but I dont actually notice a difference.

Your upload speed : 9146341 bps, or 8931 kbps.

To think my mother is pleased when her dial up connects at 36k! There is no alternative for now though....🙁

Im downloadin at 520 and i never rebooted. I used to 375-425 so my speed did pick up. I did get the email. But in the past i never had to reboot.

Sound like an upgrade. but it still isnt. Comcast took over @home. where im at. @home used to give me 6400/1200, then comcast took over and boom 1200/128. then they upped to 3000/256, now this.

I have a PCX1100. Can you give more info? What did it do to it? Since I first started checking a few days ago (Thr), I've been getting about 1250 / 350 most of the time, and even got a earlier 883 / 349 today. All terrible, but nothing seems to have been corrupted.
I did get an email yesterday about the upgrade.

But if the speedtest site is far away, and busy, won't that affect your speeds? Not quite sure how they work.
ie. The Speakeasy location at dslreports says it's very busy, and is in Cali, whereas I'm in TN.

784 uploads and 5mbit downloads are going to be available for 10.00 more a month.
They just want you to be able to hit your invisible download caps faster. 🙂 Still, that's probably going to be a bit faster than my 1.5 DSL connection. Enjoy!

So the speedtests do depend on location then right?
Thing is, when they raised us to 3Mbps last year, the speedtest that was almost 200 miles further than one was much faster.

I already have 4mb down, 384k up with Comcast....

I'd rather have (in order of preferance)

1: Lower ping times
2: Better upload bandwidth
3: Better reliablilty
4: Better download bandwidth

Chattanooga, TN.

We were upgraded here last week or so, I think. I was pulling 2.8Mbit last speed test I did. That's not too bad.

Didn't realize they had done my area already...just rebooted the modem, just tested at 3895 down, 380 up. 😀

Cool!
