In the grand scheme of things engine position isn't as important as you'd think.

Just the way the game is set up AWD is the end-all, be-all.

keeping in mind that i only race without TCS, there's a huge different in regards to engine position. it is very hard to build an A or S class front engine RWD that doesn't spin like crazy any time weight starts to shift. heavy cars or super fat tires will help negate it, but midengines are just much more well-mannered. even if depending on TCS, you're still going to lose time coming out of a corner in a front engine. rear engine helps similarly (weight in the back) but i can't get over the handling characteristics in this game. i've never a driven a porsche, but i thought they were prone to oversteer (physics would agree)- in forza however, they're understeer monsters.

AWD just helps because it always affords the best traction and does so at no PI penalty. can't believe T10 thought it was a good idea to penalize you nothing except weight (which of course just helps bring the PI down while affording similar speed).

edit: also f40 does not suck.

I believe I have my car. Ran some very decent times last night with Famous. I'm sure I could have gone just a bit faster too.

I haven't even started the whole "find a car" process :(

And can we finalize a car list please?

I'm ok with this list.

Honestly you which car you want and am competitive with. One car shouldn't be removed cause it may or may not be faster than another car in someone else's hands. We're not professional racers and have varying skill levels. We'll just have to use the start time and position to keep the race even. I don't believe we should have a HP cap either. Let the PI system take care of the closeness. It can only get so close.

Specs:
PI cap: A600
Drivetrain: RWD only
Aspiration: No force induction
Aero: Front and rear Forza spoiler

Car selection:
Aston Martin DB9 Coupe
BMW E46 M3
BMW E92 M3
BMW M3 GTR
Corvette C5 Z06
Corvette C6 Z06
Viper Competition Coupe
Viper GTS ACR
Viper SRT10 ACR
Ferrari 360 Modena
Ferrari 360CS
Ferrari F430
Ferrari 458 Italia
Ford GT
Ford Mustang GT
Jaguar XKR-S
Lamborghini Gallardo
Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera
Lamborghini Murcielago
Lamborghini Murcielago LP640
Lotus Exige Cup 240
Panoz Esperante GTLM
Porsche 996 GT3
Porsche 997 GT3
Porsche 997 GT3 RS
Saleen S281E

i don't think i got a turbo on, but do think the turbo rule can be relaxed to make more versatile cars. and if it ain't got rear wing it shouldn't be removed neither.

Also, we do need to remove the Audi R8's, no RWD swap on them.

So no HP cap? That's gonna suck...

Once again, if we don't have something to limit power famous is going to have a rocket car and blast us.

I'll remove the Audis and those cars without Aero. Which Porsche's do not have Aero?

It's called Famous starts 5 minutes behind everyone else.

Seriously, there is no way that we can make sure every car is completely even other than going with spec. Even between 5-6 cars there will be a vast difference in available parts/HP/speed at A600. The only game mechanic that we can utilize is a start difference. We'll just have to see how it goes and fine tune as needed.

Does everyone agree?

Even starting 5 mins behind us some of his rocket cars are ferocious. I suppose coupling that with the locking you to one build for the whole season may balance things out a bit. I wouldn't be sad if we set the cap at 505 HP (that allows the C6 Z06 in...if anyone wants to use it), although I've no clue what the HP values of the Lambos are.

The only Porsche that has full aero is the GT3 RS which is a VIP car, I feel bad about locking one mfr to VIP's only though. I don't know what other cars have no front/rear aero. If we did that and trimmed the lightweight (Lotus) and high power (LP640/Superleggera) off it would look beloved patriot:

Aston Martin DB9 Coupe
BMW E46 M3
BMW E92 M3
BMW M3 GTR
Corvette C5 Z06
Corvette C6 Z06
Viper Competition Coupe
Viper GTS ACR
Ferrari 360CS
Ferrari F430
Ford GT
Ford Mustang GT
Jaguar XKR-S
Lamborghini Gallardo
Lamborghini Murcielago
Panoz Esperante GTLM
Porsche 997 GT3 RS
Saleen S281E

Probably still too many options...I dunno.

well the thing is that i can't used a rocket car to blast you on all of the tracks. most of the top end cars are special builds just to run Road America and maybe Sunset and they will do poorly in maples, suzuka, laguna, etc.

the murcielago i plan to run is slower than loth's car on mugello and laguna but faster in Road America for example.

Joined a public RWD lobby yesterday. First room I joined was full of D-bags who voted me out as soon as I joined...next room I ran was better but I wasn't doing so hot. Most of the cars I raced against used no aero and were flying. Once again, I'm thinking that we need Aero to keep things balanced. I don't care if we're setting blistering laps, I just want things even-ish.

I think that list looks okay. You guys are way more familiar with the cars than I am but from what I do know, it seems like it should be okay. I'm going to go with yes and we'll see how it turns out.
