Just wanted to toss out an idea here.

If Arby's spec WRX (with a Waldo tune hopefully) works out good for all, to do a one off race before the series begins. I'd much rather at least try it once before committing to the whole series.

Confused...so run one enduro race using the spec WRX?

Yeah. If everyone likes / does ok with it to just use it with Arby's parts list and do 1 endro race with it, kinda as a test race to give everyone that hasn't ran with fuel use and tires wearing out a chance to see how it works in game before the series begans.

Edit:
When I first posted to count me out it was mainly due to having not ran a race like what's being talked about. I didn't want to take a slot then run 1 race and decide I didn't like it. Along with I misread the first post to have damage, and I didn't want to end up wasting what money I have repairing my car after every race.

Re-edit:
Just re-read the 1st post and saw all the spots were taken. If there was a test race it'd still give everyone a heads up and I'd like the chance to see how I like it. If it's something I like I could be on the for hire list.

I'd be ok with giving you my spot Hopeless. I feel you'd more competitive than I, and if its not on Tuesdat or doesn't start later I might not be able to make it. I defer.

I'm not looking to take someones spot, I had my chance and turned it down. After doing a few laps last night with some of the options that are being talked about I started getting curious to see how it would work in a full race. That's why I tossed out the idea of doing 1 race just like what's being talked about, but not a part of the series to get a chance to see how I liked it and at this point to put my name on a for hire list like blow mentioned in the first post.

I might be able to make it this Tuesday for the demo, especially since I don't think I'll be there on Wednesday.

I may be able to make it Tuesday. We are heading out of town on Sunday for a mini-vacation but should be back by Tuesday night.

Yes to keep things simple and not have to set up another car.

Car list will be posted today as soon as I review a few items.

I don't think I've fully weighed in with my thoughts on the cars. I'm fine with selecting from a pre-determined list of cars but I really think that should be the only requirement outside of whatever PI you're designated to have per the PI rules. Depending on the track, you might not always want to have all the aero parts, for instance. I think setting any requirements limits the customizability that we'd get from selecting a car (if we do anything with teammates, teammates should have the same base car but I suppose they don't necessarily have to have the same setup each week) and building it to suit the track as we see fit.

My $.02 but I feel fairly strongly about this.

No, he had a taste of the Ty syndrome, aka "I can't sleep" (probably because he went to sleep so early). Or so he says!

I'm with you 100%, if we did do teams they should have the same car model, but other than that freedom of choice rules.

Course, I'd say that parts-wise the builds are probably gonna be 95% similar.

Haha, no. Every other Friday is an off Friday for us (today is one such day) so after I fell asleep in my chair at 9:30 and didn't wake up until almost 3, I popped on the computer for a bit. Figured if I didn't have to go to work, I'd chime in here, lol.

I did have another idea for the series that could be interesting: qualifying. I believe I've seen it work like this: Qualifying would be like X (where X is the number of racers) plus 2, I think. Starting order doesn't matter, but racers leave the grid staggered from each other with plenty of room. One racer at a time does a qualifying single lap where the track is clear of everyone else. Basically the first racer leaves for their out lap (lap 1 of the race) and their qualifying lap is lap 2 of the race. The second qualifier would start his out lap part of the way through the first racer's qualifying lap and then run his qualifying lap (his out lap is lap 2 of the race and his qual lap is lap 3). The third guy does his out lap during lap 3 and quals on lap 4. When you're not on either your out lap or qualifying lap, you're parked somewhere out of the way with everyone else so the track is clear for the guy currently qualifying. Once everyone's done, there should still be one final lap. On this lap, everyone sorts into order based on their qualifying lap and crosses the finish line in that order. For the actual race, the starting order is changed to lobby points, which would reflect the finishing order of the qualifying "race".

I saw this posted for a series on either FM.net or Forza Central, I can't remember which. Not sure if it's something we're interested in or not but I wanted to get the idea out there at least to generate some discussion.

A thought, if you want you can do what 90%+ of the racing organizations are doing now and make a "spec tire" that everyone has to use. While not necessarily true in Forza, in the real world tires are THE biggest performance different between teams. In the AMA Superbike series you've got lots of motorcycles putting out around the same power, but the factory teams had access to tires that the smaller teams couldn't use (Michael Jordan's team offered Michelin millions for the tires that one of the factory teams used and they wouldn't do it). This is why the AMA, Formula 1, World Superbike, and a ton of other organizations have a spec tire rule now.

Just a thought to add some realism. :p

Car List (tentative)

LMK if these seem out of whack OR one has a clear advantage over the other. Help me fill in the blanks. The list was established on cars I enjoy driving ... that is all.

I will place 2 restrictions on the cars

1. NO DRIVETRAIN SWAP
2. YOU MUST RUN SPORT TIRES

All other upgrades are up to you.

Audi

I'm still saying that we should allow any upgrades we want, including drive train. Unless that's a restriction that real race teams have, I don't think we should limit ourselves to one drive train. From a strategic standpoint, having a different drive train on different tracks could be beneficial. If we go with Ty's idea of having a spec tire, running sport tires is probably okay.

As for the actual cars themselves, it seems like we're a little short on cars. Just at a glance... no BMW, Porsche, Cadillac, etc. There's a lot of makers with good cars that aren't represented. I honestly think I'm coming down on the side of not having a set car list to pick from, it just has to meet the required PI limitations each race. I'm okay with a spec tire but I think I'm against having a set car list.

One problem I noticed.

The 355 Challenge has no sport tires, it's got stock tires (which are probably = to sport tires though since it's a race car platform).

Audi suggestion: 2004 S4

Nissan suggestion: 350Z

Peugeot suggestion: 207 RC

Volkswagon suggestion: Golf R32 (is that the new one?)

Errr .... this is difficult!!

I am not sure I want it "OPEN" as I think that someone could simply end up "getting left out in the cold" in this area. If we allow a ONE TIME car change it could be ok but I am not convinced that it should be OPEN.

Drivetrain swaps I MAY be flexible on as I do like AWD cars myself and one of my faves is an AWD Mugen Integra and it only gets this way with a DT swap.

***BTW this whole Enduro thing is a group effort!! I don't want to be the "Rule Maker". This should be decided on together. If you guys want me to decide that's fine I will but know that we may all end up driving S-Class Pintos! :p
