For $100 Billion USD, wouuld you....

For those of you who said you wouldn't do it..
How would you respond to this scenario:
You are given $100 Billion USD, and you have a choice. You can choose to pay God(figuratively), the $100 Billion, and it will save a man(same case as OP) from dying from a lightning strike. Or, you can choose to keep the money, and the man dies.
In this situation, what would you do?

Only IN A HEARTBEAT! Try to make clear to him that by killing him, a lot of people will be pulled out of poverty. I'd donate $99 billion to charity (and I mean a REAL charity), something like 30% AIDS research, 60% feeding people, 10% I don't know, figure it out, and keep $1 billion. I might feel guilty, but meh.

I'd do it for a few million... He's just some guy, right? If no one ever finds out about it then that means he has no family or friends either. I'm probably doing him a favor.

Another question.. would you sacrafice yourself, if doing so would result in $1 trillion USD donation for AIDS/cancer/world hunger/etc.

No. I do that, and I'm going to Hell.

God made the world. He made the poor, he made the rich. He didn't give me the right to kill anyone - even if it was to help the poor. The poor will get their reward in heaven anyways. Why screw any chance I have with murder (for greed)?

i'd kill him and be selfish with the money even :shrug;

Easier said than done. Would you really? If I hand you the gun, point to the man and tell you to go ahead the pull the trigger on his head with your very finger.... could you really?

It's called being a sociopath. Ever heard of it?

hell for 1 billion id off just about anyone

let's make it personal. How about your mother? If you had truly altruistic and logical model, that shouldn't make any diff.

Sure, no problem.

Yes I would
Think of all the starving kids I can save from death with that money. While it won't clear my conscience, may relieve some.
As Spock said "It is logical. The need of the many outweighs the needs of the few...or the one."

What I'm curious about is the person making this offer in the first place.

I'd probably kill the tribesman, then kill the person making the offer for giving me such a horrible decision to make. Then I'd donate $98-ish billion to various charities and disappear onto a private island with FIOS.

Man what a bunch of losers. Being part of the richest nation in the world and being at the top 1% in world income isn't enough you would actually take a life to make more money. Money is meaningless if you have your basic needs (food, shelter) taken care of, and if you are posting on atot I'm going to assume you have your basic needs covered. Life passes by in a blink of an eye, that aged man in the walker struggling to make it across the street was a mother's new born baby not to long ago, I bet he would trade all the money he had for some youth (time) back. Yet a bunch of young mental midget contract killers out there, would *theoretically* be ready to throw someone under the bus so they can buy some new things that will only complicate their lives more. Wake up numbnuts because your already rich.

I said I wouldn't kill the guy.

But In this case, I would NOT pay the money to save the guy either.

and I DEFINATELY would NOT sacrifice myself if a lot of money was promised to research.

The guy and everyone else has no right to demand me to give up what is mine. Just as I have no right to take away what is not mine.

screwed up huh?

Yes. If I would be sure the money would be actually donated. IE, you donating the money, me calling someone totally unrelated half an hour later to see if the donation was really made and me pulling the trigger when I hang up.
