Easier said than done. Would you really? If I hand you the gun, point to the man and tell you to go ahead the pull the trigger on his head with your very finger.... could you really?

I was thinking the same thing, 100 billion seems like way, WAY too much for that. I don't even want that much money. Start around 1+ million and the question may be more interesting.

edit: And for some people, even 1 million is way more than required to do that.

And that alone would relieve you of your guilty conscious?

A more accurate question would be: "Would you let me kill you for $100 billion?"

What if he says yes? That automatically means it's okay for YOU?
What if he says no? That automatically means he's right? That others should suffer because he selfishly refuses to die?
I wouldn't kill him because I wanted to, I'm not immoral.

But if he would kill me in a role reversal; why should he live?

It's the logical answer to an ethical question.

Wouldn't the guy paying you $100 billion dollars know you did it?

Oh, EDIT, I get it. :) The dude who lives in the middle of the jungle is paying you $100 bil to head on over and kill him.

why does it matter on your decision whether HE would kill you in his shoes or not?

Because they he wouldn't be able to blame the killer for killing him.

He would say, "can you blame him? I would have done the same."

Sorry but that kind of thinking mechanism is really primitive.

For example...
Hypothetical: Say you ask your friend if he would ever get with your gf. And your friend said yes, he would... That becomes the logical answer if his gf hits on you.

Ethics is relative; with that much money on the line, why bring your standards above those of the other guy?

who says I would do any good with the money? ;)

Actually I wouldn't kill anyone, even if they deserved it in the eyes of the world. It's not up to me to judge the living or the dead.

100 billion? hell, I would do it for $1 billion...maybe less due to the stipulations of never being caught etc.

EDIT: I'd live it up and then pull a jimmy buffet -- donate the lot of it to the gates foundation.

yes, but i'd probably end up giving back $99 billion to various charities because I'd feel like sh!t and would have to try and make it seem like it was for something.

I wouldn't do it. *shrug* I'm not looking to play God. And I'm not that big into having a lot of money anyway, just enough to pay the bills and live a normal life. And what would you do with being the richest man in the world anyway, except living secluded from everyone, in fear that people are constantly out to exploit you?

NO, because who am I to decide if he lives or dies. The result of the good done by the money means nothing to me.

However, I would kill him if he were trying to kill me.

and you guys with the total greatest good arguement are not taking into account that you don;t know if this guy would have created some cure that would save 1000X the people saved by your money.
