Yesterday I switched the heating of my flat from CPUs to GPUs (of course). I engaged 3 living room GPUs, and 2 kitchen GPUs.

Just now I started to put my plan into practice to use the bedroom as heatsink too. The bedroom is now equipped with 2 GPUs on wheels, dangling off a 10m (30') power cable and 10m Ethernet cable. :-) Over night I'll put them into the hallway.

GPU's on wheels?? Oh right, after reading your post again in my thread I see what you mean, you mean PCs on a trolley :D

************

I just realised I forgot to switch my CPUs over to folding :oops:, that will only be about 150k+ ppd between them though.

Woke up this morning to both the rigs showing similar on the CPU: 07:46:13:WARNING:WU02:FS00:Failed to get assignment from 'assign1.foldingathome.org:80': No WUs available for this configuration

Neither computer is working on CPU work unit right now. Not a huge deal since the GPU does way more, but gonna see if a reboot helps.

Is their some kind of issue going on with CPU folding right now? I woke up to a bunch of errors about "No WUs available for this configuration" on my rigs

I don't think this is just you then :( One of the top guys on my team was making 11+M PPD almost all on CPU and he has basically dropped off today as well.

Yeah, rebooted the rig just to be sure, and same outcome:

None of the servers are giving WU's for "my configuration", but that could very well be for all configurations, because I have 2 Ryzen rigs, and 2 old Sandy Bridge Xeon rigs, and none are getting CPU work units right now.

It looks as if something is wrong with assign1 and assign2 servers and I don't see assign3 or 4.
Someone smarter than me may can deduce more. Obviously the weekend is the worst possible time for a problem to pop up on their end.

Might be fixed now (or at least improving) as i managed to get some work on all but 1 rig in the last hour

Sometimes this happens if a CPU slot has an inconvenient number of threads, and choosing a different thread count helps. But I think more typically this happens when their work servers simply don't have work, or cannot be reached.

Hmm, of the three work types (OPENMM_22, GRO_A7, GRO_A8) I think GRO_A7 is CPU work, and OPENMM_22 is GPU work. What is GRO_A8?

Close race so far. :) We've matched their output, now we just need to make up the ~20 million we're behind. I added about 700-800k PPD today by Folding on some CPU's.

I have everything in the house folding, excluding my retro gaming machine (pentium 200, win 98, sli voodoo 2). I’m going to guess that pc couldn’t even install F@H... but I’m half tempted to try!

Lol, don't stress that poor ole rig, I'll switch my i7 4930k instead ;)

Well, that is if I can add the CPU slots back in, I've just tried on my main rig, and after I click save for the CPU slot, nothing happens! :( I've tried it 3-4 times now. wth???

Is it set to -1 to choose the number of CPU? You may need to manually specify the number.

Yea it's on -1, I just tried again, and it still didn't work, I don't get it:confused:, the log shows nothing either....
Didn't have this problem in the last race!

I set it to 6 (6C cpu), same thing, click save and nothing (aside for a fraction of a second the 'online running' goes to yellow and pauses).

Try this, if you are keen on CPU folding:
  • Find the FAHClient data directory.
  • Shut down the client.
  • Open config.xml in a text editor.
  • Add this right beneath the existing definitions of the GPU folding slots:
    XML:
      <slot id='3' type='CPU'>
        <cpus v='36'/>
        <paused v='true'/>
      </slot>
    Note, change the value of id to on up from the highest ID of the existing slots. (E.g., if there is only one slot, it certainly has got the ID 0, and the new CPU slot should get ID 1 then.) Also, change the value of cpus to the thread count that you want this slot to have.
  • Restart the client.
  • A CPU slot should be there now, paused by default. Switch it to "fold".

Edit:
I set it to 6 (6C cpu), same thing, click save and nothing (aside for a fraction of a second the 'online running' goes to yellow and pauses).
Uhm, wait, so the slot was created after all? And the problem is that it does not switch from paused to folding?
