well apparently he was upset he wasnt told, so yeah, he needed to be told about it.

but im not concerned with Obama, your right that it really isnt something that he has to be on top of, but any of the other officials I mentioned should have been in the loop, period.

they could have just admitted to knwoing about it, apologized about upsetting anyone, and moved on. instead it makes it look like all this was done behind thier backs.

Did he have a tantrum because he had to sit in the back of the plane? Is it only ok for VIP conservatives to fly on AF1?

what seems so laughable is that the no one in the administration publicly admits to knowing about it, passing the blame off to other people.

Heck, even the whitehouse press secretary didnt have any info and had no idea what was going on. Neither did the homeland security secretary or Obama. Im not going to outright blame Obama, but come on....no one else in authority knew what was going on? This is AF1 we are talking about. There are precedures for this that envolve the secrete service all the way up. So either they just dont want to own up to it, or they really were oblivious.

Either way, it doesnt exactly scream confidence in the administration when something as simple as this gets out of control. Maybe they should work on thier organization/communication skills in the future.

He doesn't seem to have more important ways to spend our money, so... ?

Flame on!

i can't see how anyone can put this on Obama. his admistration? sure but not him.

but man what a clusterfuck of a mistake.

Yeah it's not Obama's fault, I'm sure he was busy giving a speech of how America is to blame about everything.

Robert Gibbs says to contact the White House for information? I'm not sure he knows his job.

The libs want it both way so badly. Every mis-fart by one of Bush's aide's and you had every comedy show and news routine showing how big of a dumbass Bush was, but when it's Obama's judgement on the line, it's quickly buried. Just imagine if Bush did this. Every single influential comedian would skewer him for not being up on Photoshop's abilities and would have a ball with the whole "what's a computer?" thing. Instead, the media shows it's bias, things are ignored and quickly moved along when one of their own commie thugs makes a blunder.

This wasn't even a blunder. This was a severe lack of judgement by an idiot with an idiot filled cabinet who is making Bush look like Albert Einstein. This is what we get for electing a teleprompter.

CHeck out the FFA memo story:

So... let me get this straight:

The defense department decides to do a photo-op, and notifies the NYPD and releveant city officials that there will be a jet and fighter planes in the sky at this time and this location.

The NYPD and relevant city officials call in sick, and don't relay the notice to anyone else.

Obama gets blame?

I'm not implying that that OP is putting the blame solely on the white house or Obama, but if you read some of the comment sections attached to stories covering this piece of news, you'd think that Obama himself was flying the jet and cackling just to piss off God-fearing, gun-loving patriots of these here united states.

Where the fuck did I even mention Obama, other than "No, not an Obama bash thread"? Learn to read, man.

no, no, no. It's Obama's fault.....

Well if you want to get technical... it was Obama who made Louis Caldera the director of the White House Military Office. Caldera was the one who authorized this mess.

Guess where this idiot was on the board of directors before the Obama administration? None other than the hugely successful IndyMac. You know the first financial institute to collapse!

It keeps getting better and better.

I'll yield that point to you, sir - and I'll attempt to rein myself in better in the future instead of going into full attack mode - and I apologize to blackangst1 as well.

The outrage at the auto execs flying in on private jets seems quite hollow now that we know they have been using a VC-25 to make flybys of various monuments for photo ops just so Obama would have some nice pictures to hand out at fundraisers.

While I still believe Obama's hands are clean of this, I'm sad that you're so right. Had this been Bush (or any Republican, for that matter) - correction: WHEN this was Bush (or any Republican, for that matter), you never heard the end of it. "Oh, but it was BUSH'S administration, and HE'S responsible for its actions!" would have been attack #1.

This is why people who marry themselves to a party like it's a fucking sports team are so bloody stupid. They stopped thinking critically ages ago. Now it's just about rooting for their side... whatever it takes.

A government memo shows the Federal Aviation Agency predicted "public concern" over fighter jets flying near downtown Manhattan ? and yet demanded that New York officials not explain the planes' terrifying presence.

In the memo, a copy of which was obtained by WCBS-TV in New York, FAA official James Johnston acknowledged "the possibility of public concern regarding DOD (Department of Defense) aircraft flying at low altitudes." Instead of proposing a public-awareness campaign to salve New Yorkers' lingering 9/11 fears, however, Johnston threatened federal sanctions if the purpose of the flyover ? staged to create a White House publicity photo of Air Force One flying past the Statue of Liberty ? leaked out.

This just gets stupider and stupider and stupider, doesn't it?

After 8 years of the left doing just that you should take it as a given that the right won't hesitate to return the favor.

If Obama wins in 2012 you have almost 8 more years of this to tolerate too.

Of course. Turn about is fair play. Except I'll bet that pictures of Obama with a gun to his head won't be considered art... :D

Actually, they admit they knew it would cause panic, but they did it anyway. They threatened to prosecute people if they tried to warn the public.

http://www.powerlineblog.com/a...ves/2009/04/023443.php

The main problem is that the movements of the VC-25's are classified information. they knew they could not warn the public, but did the stunt anyway.

Tell your idiot-in-chief we have an invention called the COM-PUT-ER now and can PHO-TO-SHOP the same picture for 0.01% of the cost of actually performing what that lunatic did.

Cost was not a factor as they're constantly training so they combined a training mission with a Photo Op. That still doesn't absolve the Officer in charge from making a stupid decision. Good thing nobody jumped out of a window.
