Poor AMD...

On the bright side, Jaguar's probably going to sell great. Not sure why AMD is worrying about e-Peen for enthusiasts when we all know that AMD's woefully behind here.

AMD doesnt need your sympathy nor mine.

So it really is that expensive .... 🙂

Overclocking results will be worth reading. See what the 9370 can reach VS the 800 dollar gem.

They are adding the caches together. From the 8350 specs.

  • 8MB L3 Cache
  • 4 x 2MB L2 Cache

Agreed, the 9370 is somewhat reasonable. I did note that it is advertised as 4.7 ghz, which is somewhat shady considering that is the turbo speed, which is not usually the advertised speed. Actually it is only 4.4 ghz according to Anand's review, with turbo to 4.7, which makes it only about 10% faster than 8350. It could be a good deal if it still has overclocking headroom, otherwise just a vanilla 8350 overclocked is probably a better value for most.

Using Fritz Chess for AMD chips has already been proven laughable, just as much as SuperPi.

Intel Chips are optimized in Fritz Chess.
Using any benchmark for AMD chips looks to be laughable from the results shown in the original post. I never implied Fritz Chess was the be all, end all benchmark. However AMD's latest, greatest, near $1000 effort shouldn't be taken to task by my four year old W3520.

Do this bench and post your score...and power comsumption
since that s a parameter that seems to be appreciated by quite
a lot of people who share a common , well , mindset...

I wasn't sure if you were wanting me to bench the W3520 or my current setup, if it's the current one then here they are. If you were wanting to see the W3520 it may be a while. No idea about the power consumption, I run at 1.4v for 4.8GHz, never tested to see if that was as low as it could go at 4.8 and remain stable.

Faster even at dead stock speeds.

It just gets worse as I go up from there...@4.8GHz

How is Fritz optimized for Intel?

The same way the highway is optimized for a Lamborghini diablo, how else can you explain the discrepancy between the diablo's top speed and that of my Prius?

Clearly it is the road, made by those damned biased prejudicial road engineers and construction workers, on the take from Lamborghini of course.

Another [damn] retarded analogy, congratulations.

Goodbye Anandtech, won't miss you.

hit or miss...very much miss...

But even at 4.4 it will be vastly inferior in MT tasks
so what s your point.?..

btw , wonderfull your 2500k , since according
to TR it s 103W at stocks in x264 , a task hardly
as TDP hungry that Linx , isnt it...

I was not directly comparing my $200 2500k to the $1000 FX chip. it was a direct reply to power consumption not being important if overclocking anyway. as you can see many people still can oc and have a VERY efficient chip.

Seems a lot of people on AT forum got upset because of a chip they wouldn't ever buy. It's interesting since this chip @ stock performs rather well, apart from power draw which seems to be the "new concern" among the enthusiasts. 🙄

Few observations :
-the highest end model is indeed priced over the top. Maybe the price will go down. In any case this is not an "average Joe" CPU, it's mostly for hwbot crowd. Great performance out of the box though.
-the lower end model is between 3770K and 4770K in application performance according to hardware.fr. It lags behind them in their CPU limited gaming suit by a solid amount (although just 16% slower than stock 2600K). Still for the money it would be a decent gaming chip. For single GPU (Titan) and maybe CF/SLI it can provide good fps in CPU limited games since 2600K @ stock already can do that.

Another fucking retarded analogy, congratulations.

Goodbye Anandtech, won't miss you.

+1 🙂

Although I stay around for the entertainment value. 😀 But agree %101 on the attempted sarcastic wittiness of those retarted analogies.

I was hoping to get either something that at least hints to 'optimization' or have the question be rhetorical.😛

I would assume Fritz is much better on Intel simply because it plays to their strength. Complex branch prediction sucks on Bulldozer derivatives.

It was your concern too, a few years ago when Bulldozer was launched:

So what we need is 95W 3.6Ghz FX8150, 125W 4Ghz 8170 and 4-4.2 Ghz 125W 8270 (Piledriver).
This lineup would hold off SB and IB ,at least in mid and mid-high performance segments, without many problems.

So much for your clock speed uber alles of today.

125W 8350 does OK against SB/IB 😉. It's not better all around chip but is priced much lower.

This I can fully agree with, even 8320 is a fairly good processor, and a great value with the right cooling and setup (when your workloads match well to it).

$800-$1000 for this gimmicky 9590 is just stupid though.

Another *bleeping* retarded analogy, congratulations.

Goodbye Anandtech, won't miss you.

Cursing is not allowed in the CPU forum, we won't miss you either.

If one is going to comment on the subject of wit, it's probably worth spelling retarded correctly.

/grammar nazi

In all seriousness, there are enough people with brains in their heads around here, along with some legendary members (IDC for one) to make AT a valuable resource indeed. We will always have the odd person that tries to say that Pentium D was better than Athlon X2, or that Core 2 Duo was only a 'marginal/poor' improvement over Athlon X2, but those people are typically exposed and laughed at for being quite impressively stupid and/or uninformed.

Oh the analogy wasn't intended for the purpose you folks think, but it did bring out the hater-brigade which is very much helpful info.

Thanks for raising your hands and getting your circle-jerk on. The information is helpful.

Help me, I'm an idiot. I am trying to do that stupid x264 FHD benchmark and I tried unzipping, installing, clicking the damn thing and I can't figure it out. I need to make sure that I am not challenged by an AMD cpu. This is critical to my self esteem. So how do I do this benchmark?

It didn't cost them $1000 to validate the chip, although such high clockspeeds does require a more time and testing than their lesser brothers. It's just that in the computer buyer market, THERE IS a niche of folks who are convinced psychologically to spend this type of big money on the CPU.

The benchmark is rather easy to run IIRC. Just DL it and after unpacking run and click the "start". Wait and report your slower score 😛

And most of you got an infraction for it. Keep it up, and a vacation is in your future.
