I don't know how to interpret benchmark results off the top of my head, unfortunately 😉 Is this good, or bad? Does it manage to beat the 4770k? (At stock, obviously... I don't have much hope for it beating an OC'd one)

I got a kick out of this little comment by the OP in that thread:

"No issue, AMD CPUs are factory specced more durable at 1.5V than Ivy or Haswell... can last at least 3 years before the official wty runs out."
Not sure what is funny about that? While not the best wording, the end message is true. You can't compare Intel/AMD voltages anymore than you can compare Intel/AMD temperature readings, or ATI/Nvidia core counts.

I can't remember if it has started with Haswell, but future Intel processors will take a strait 12V input. Are you suggesting that these processors are going to burn out instantly?

anyway, does it justify the "Intel Extreme" like price? how it looks compared to the much cheaper 4770K and 3930K?
 
Clock speeds and core counts don't predict overall performance, this is true. However, increasing core voltages and core temps for stock parts isn't a good thing by any stretch of the imagination, unless you're interested in running CPUs in harsh environmental conditions and you don't care about power consumption (which is quite a curious combination).

So nothing different it seems, just a 8350 OC.


Also at 1.55v good luck with that 220w TDP, might as well just not give it one because 220w is clearly a joke.

to be fair Haswell i5 at 4.8GHz doesn't look like the easiest thing to have working (but yes, the price difference is insane).

this CPU is going to work by default like this covered by a warranty, you only need to make sure you have a great motherboard and cooling.

My i5 is uses a $50 air cooler, I'm not sure what point you were attempting to make.

I was only alluding to the fact that this seems to simply be a factory overclocked 8350, nothing more.

Both the rumored 220w TDP and $1000 price tag are clearly jokes.
 
Barely matches/beats a stock i7 4770K (probably would lose badly if they compared performance @ max OC on air/water), still behind 2-year old cheaper soon to be replaced i7 3930K @ stock. Keep your OCed FX8320/8350, this is a niche product for breaking OC records.

So if i follow you higher frequency regular CPUs
are overclocked versions of their lower frequency siblings.?.

Overclocking means simply exceeding the official frequencies
of any CPU even if it s lower than the one of high freq. offerings,
so once one push this CPU higher than 5ghz it will be then ocked...

Comparing Intel/AMD voltages by the OP is exactly what I found amusing. That, and the term "more durable".
 
I'm sorry, it's the same chip as the 8350 with higher stock frequency.

I hope that settles our differences.

So the 8350 being the same as the 8320....it s also
an overclocked version..wait , there is a 8300 for OEMs ,
hence all CPUs sold to regular people are ocked.
 
Yes, 8350 and 8320 are the same chips with different factory operating speeds.

6300 has the same cores as the 8350, just less, same with the 4xxx series.. /🙁\

What is being said is that this new chip is the sane uarch, I hope I've bottomed it out far enough for you to no longer take offense.

For thoses who dont waste time on semantics this means
GF process can endure slightly higher voltage than intels.

Because Intel has it's chips made at Global Foundries. Please don't pull any more of this out of you know where. TY.

Yes, but your idea of stability is not the same as that practiced by AMD and Intel. At least based on your thread about your 4670K.

While it's impressive that AMD is validating 4 module Vishera at this high of a clockspeed (FX 83xx has a good chance of topping out in the upper mid 4GHz), I personally would never pay that much for a pre-validated golden CPU of any brand or model.
