you know, my battery is getting better... it's 4:20PM and i'm @ 60%. Before, (first weekend) I would be down to 35% by 3:30PM

Were you doing iCloud backups and stuff like that? My phone is pretty good as long as I'm not sitting there messing around with it constantly.

Hmm I know it doesn't matter if you don't drain Lithium Ions all the way normally (you can "use" partial charge cycles), but does it matter in the beginning of their "life"?

I read tons of articles to get to the bottom of the battery mystery. Initially, 1st charge with phone off till it's full all the way, vaoid having the battery go down to extremely low levels, charge frequently and when you buy a spare battery, charge it halfway before putting it away, in case you plan to use current one til end of life.

It does in the Settings app under General > Network > WiFi. So, I assume you probably mean in some sort of drop-down option on the main screen.

had an app on my old Inspire where it would scan and give me the signal strength of nearby wifi networks. stuff like this used to be in the app store but apple banned it a while back

There isn't an easy way to tell the state of charge of many rechargeable batteries - and lithium batteries are no exception.

To get around this, most high-tech portable devices, incorporate a dedicated CPU into the battery module, which monitors the battery's voltage, and meters the energy flowing in and out. When brand new, the CPU may only be loaded with factory default values, and may need a couple of full charge/discharge cycles before it can calibrate it's "fuel gauge" to the actual performance of that specific battery.

Geofencing is pretty cool..

<while out walking the dogs>
Siri: Remind me to feed the dogs when I get home

<as soon as I get home>
Alert: Feed the dogs

I don't think I'll be using Siri around others, but when I'm by myself it seems to be working pretty decently.

Finally...

I find it odd that the app got pulled to begin with. The Facebook app had a notoriously bad crash in the 4.0 release that affected a ton of people, but it didn't get pulled. I started up Google Voice without a problem (before the fix) on my iPhone.

Mine would instantly crash, it was useless, better to pull it than have a useless app.

Siri would've been SO much better if they just have better servers! Siri-ously (sorry couldn't resist) Every time I try to show someone the awesomeness of siri, all I get is "Sorry, I cannot connect to the network right now".

"Sorry, I am having problems connecting to the network."

except now the 4s is the fastest available phone right now, ruling all geek benchies as well. The only thing it falls behind is data speed, which 4g/lte will pwn.

And not offering anywhere near the level of customization and options that Android gives you. 😉

And the screen is still too small (IMHO).

And yep, still no 4G/LTE (this is a pretty big omission compared to other high end phones out today).

apple makes one phone for sale around the world. the only big LTE deployment is Verizon now. most other countries won't even start deploying LTE for another 2-3 years.

i don't care about customization of android. I just want it to work, and work fast. I hate on android, to uninstall a program, I have to go into system settings. Then, I have to go to "manage applications" and "find" the app I want to uninstall. What a pain in the ass... just to uninstall something! I should just be able to hold the icon down, and delete it that way!

Anyways, I don't need to constantly change my home screen. I'm happy with the way they give the screen to us. hence, i like iOS and WebOS, and WP7

You can do it that way. Just press and hold the icon in the app drawer, then drag it towards the trash and hold it until you see "Uninstall". 🙂

exactly..

problem is Android is smarter than 98% of the users out there that want their dumb as dirt IOS that does everything form them including wiping their butts.

having used both extensively..

I will take Andriod over an Iphone at this point every single day.

Iphone wins at 2 things.. dumbing it down to the point a dead caveman could use it.. and media interaction.. I hate the fact that my 1000 dollar headunit it my car can only use a crappy Ipod/Iphone natively when the damn Android can do the same thing just as well but noone is making headunits that will integrate natively with Andriods media features.

other than that Android wins hands down.

1.5 years with my Evo 4G and I had no idea you could do this.

It's okay, I only just found out yesterday that I can create calendar events and set alarms with voice search. 😉

What, really? What the hell. I uninstalled Voice because I never ever used it because I found that typing is so much faster and useful. I still won't install it, but I never knew it could do that.

Yep. If I say "Wake me up in 30 minutes" in Voice Search, it sets an alarm for 30 minutes from now. As for creating calendar events, you need to do a one time enabling from google.com/calendar. Here's a link showing you what and how to do it.

lol... Thanks to Siri, and the android community who wants to prove "it's not that big of a deal". I still don't think siri is that big of a deal...
