There is already a extension that does this and actually has a gui that lets you go in and tweak it out. Its simply called "tweak network 1.0" and you can find it here and here is a

It's easy to do this inside firefox:

In the URL bar go to:
about:config

set
network.http.pipelining - to true
network.http.proxy.pipelining - to true
network.http.pipelining.maxrequests - to some high number (100 is good)

Firefox will permanently save your changes to user.js in your profile directory

hmm...just did the "patch". It seems to hang on the loading of pages for about half a second now, where before it started right away. Then when it's almost done loading, it'll show the entire page faster, which "seems" faster. I can't really tell for sure if it is indeed actually faster or not though. Maybe someone should do some before, and after benchmarks.

*edit*...I take that back. I just tried it without patching on another computer, and it has the same "hang" or lag for a split second....then the patched one loads MUCH faster. :D

FireFox doesn't work well on my fairly new computer at all. I have no idea why. :/
I heard so much good stuff about firefox, but can't use it. Me sad.

so if maxthon is an IE based browser...am i to assume that it is vulnerable to all the problems that IE affected by?

on a side note...help me out ppl...whenever i click on a link, i want firefox to open up a new tabbed window...not a whole new firefox window...i looked in the options menu and changed some of the settings but im still having problems. can someone tell me where i can change the settings so that the links open up as tabs and not as a seperate window? i know this is off topic but any help would be appreciated.

Yes, maxathon is still vulnerable to all the usual IE exploits and bugs. As for the tab problem, look up 'tabbrowser extensions'

Well, this post convinced me to finally try another browser out (other than IE). Not sure what the final verdict will be but I am initially pleased and am in the tweaking mode. Just applied the patch and things are loading much faster. Thanks OP! w00t!

You can do it in IE too.
