It's amazing anyone on this forum thinks this was a good idea. This should be roundly condemned by both sides. That letter served no purpose what so ever but to hurt Hilary Clinton. That's not how justice should work. Imagine if it were the case that nothing was found and Hilary lost the election because of this. How is that fair and/or just?
It's also comical that Trump supporters have been railing against a rigged system and then when Comey does something that is inherently unfair, they rejoice. I guess for Trump's stooges, rigged is anything that doesn't help them get their way.
Comey is in a no win situation. What we know is that there is a device, there may be emails and those emails may be relevant to the FBI's investigation. It's amazing anyone on this forum thinks this was a good idea. Given the public interest, this development was going to break regardless.
Can you imagine the firestorm if this leaked one day or two weeks or one month after Clinton's victory on election day? How about one day prior? If anything, Comey did Clinton a favor in that she still has time for damage control.
Unless of course the FBI believes it now has leverage over Abedin or Weiner relevant to Clinton or otherwise.
In nominating Clinton, Democrats accepted the risk of their candidate being the subject of an FBI investigation, and the implications inherent to where that investigation might land. The same as the Republicans accepting the inherent risk of their candidate being on record saying some pretty deplorable things. Both are facing the repercussions of those decisions.
I don't envy Comey. I was of course disappointed in the FBI's decision not to indict, but I respect the disciplined and logical way Comey defended that decision. I respect his subsequent professionalism under intense GOP scrutiny. It doesn't make sense that he would suddenly undermine all of that as he has nothing to gain.
It is amazing how quickly Trump moved to now embrace Comey. while Clinton and her surrogates now want his head, with the smear campaign against him now in full force.
He had the guts to initially admit that, while he could have brought charges they never would have resulted in a conviction.
Wow! So, they don't have a search warrant to look at the emails and have no clue what are in them but it was worth sending a letter to congress about them. And it's precedence to not comment on an investigation. SMH
James Comey Broke with Loretta Lynch and Justice Department Tradition
According to the Administration official, Lynch asked Comey to follow Justice Department policies, but he said that he was obliged to break with them because he had promised to inform members of Congress if there were further developments in the case. He also felt that the impending election created a compelling need to inform the public, despite the tradition of acting with added discretion around elections. The Administration official said that Lynch and Justice Department officials are studying the situation, which he called unprecedented.
I'm thinking NYPD was the one who discovered it, passed it along to FBI, and the FBI was left with no choice but to reopen it. If not NYPD goes public, or at least that'd be the fear.
He didn't release it to the public though Thump553, congress did.
Yeah, not only that but:
So not only has he not seen the emails, he has no idea if they are copies of ones that already have been investigated...
Bullshit. It stems from an FBI investigation into Weiner's sexting.
The letter sent to congress was way more inflammatory than the memo he sent to his own people.
Be careful of believing second hand accounts. Lynch hasn't said anything & I doubt that she will.

Except most of those were not Clintons words. Few of them are completely made up. Of course it's not like you have enough integrity to actually look into it and correct this bullshit post.10 days until the coalition comes together . . .

What I don't get is if they have justification for a search warrant now (which is still questionable), why didn't they request one for her accounts months ago? These seems like nothing but a fishing expedition.
I personally hope Comey is fired the day after the election, attempting to affect a presidential election based on nothing but a fishing expedition is crap.
