I finally unlocked the Buzzsaw last night.

Holy cow. Total destruction. I felt like John Rambo.

I also got the Autocross unlocked at the exact same time. This was when I had liberated all of the bell towers, so it appears you can miss the earlier unlock.

yep the buzzsaw is insane

you know it's practically as accurate as the best sniper rifle?

It's not just a big gun, it's accurate too.

Yeah, I was expecting bullets flying everywhere but this thing has almost zero recoil as well. I took over a compound in a matter of minutes, including some heavy units, with just tapping the fire button. One burst seems to take anything down.

Now I just need to get the sniper rifle with the explosive rounds (AMR?) and I think I'll bet set!

What did you guys do to get to Arena Rank 10? Any kind of shortcut?

I ended up putting the FC4 Arena Master app on my phone. You can link your progress in the app to your Uplay account. I think it took me 2-3 hours of playing in the app (maybe less) to progress from level 3 to level 10. I just made sure to fire up the app at lunch or anytime I had a spare 10 minutes or so and I gained the levels in a few days.

Someone was mentioning that there's a tie-in app available for FC4 arena on smartphones that you can make some easy progress with.

I just did the community maps in the arena. It took about two hours. Just select a map that has some human enemies. For some reason the all animal maps don't drop guns or ammo, and you're stuck with the starting gun. All the other modes are irritating.

I got this game for PS4, but this has a lot more discussion so I'll chat here about it.

Love it so far. Really enjoyed 3 though I didn't finish it (got distracted with other things). Hope to get a lot of play time out of this one, so hopefully it doesn't get boring.

The biggest gripe I have right now is with some of the map design. There's a glider next to the village you start at that has a tree in front of you. You can't use it at all because as soon as you launch from it, it clips the tree and you fall to your death. This is in the first village and one of the first gliders I've come across, so even if playtesting stopped after 2 gameplay hours they should have come across this. I wonder how many other things like this I'll find.

Gliders really go the way of the dodo with Buzzers around and much earlier access to the Wingsuit - I only used one a handful of times at most. One of the first outposts you clear called "Something Bazaar" I think always has a buzzer available at it. Which is really convenient, they aren't super fast but simply being able avoid pretty much all terrain/obstacles/enemies between you and your destination is usually a net gain.

It also seems like the terrain in this game makes using gliders a pretty dicey proposition. Lots of hills and mountains around with very little place to actually attempt a landing. I usually end up bailing out and using my wingsuit when I get close to where I need to go. It seemed like gliders were much more useful in FC3.

Whats funny is I've seen this happen to people of Twitch at the glider you are talking about, but only to people on PS4. I just thought they were noobs! I don't remember it happening to me, although I haven't been to that outpost since the beginning of the game. I slide down the rope when I did the mission from there. I think in the next output you get access to a buzzer.

I haven't encountered any badly-placed gliders either. Would be bizzare if it turned out to be a PS4-exclusive quirk.

That would be pretty odd. After a little searching it almost sounds like it wasn't a problem at first, but something changed after a patch that made that first glider unusable. It's not that important, but still a pretty obvious screw up

Anyway, having a lot of fun still. Starting to get aggravated by eagle attacks though which seems to be a common complaint. It wouldn't be as frustrating if there was a way to kill them quickly if they attack you (say like you have to hit the melee button quickly when they attack) but as it stands now they get in a cheap shot, and I can't always recover and take them out before they're up in the air again.

Just finished a mission that introduces the Hunters, which I like. They're relatively quick and can see you easily which makes things more challenging. It's more fun than the typical grunts I run into.

I just finished the game last night, and the animal attacks are probably my only real complaint about the game. I just felt like the frequency of the attacks was way over the top. And the further you get into the game the more frequent they become. It was not uncommon for me to be attacked 5-6 times by various animals just scouting out a compound looking for the alarms. Of course, if you are too close to the compound and need to use a weapon to kill the Yak that somehow has been stalking you for the last 10 minutes then trying to make a stealthy entry into that compound is out. It just got to be silly after awhile.

Still, the game was a blast. I enjoyed this one more than Dragon Age: Inquisition and will most likely keep playing for awhile to finish the smaller tasks that I left undone.

I had this running at a solid 60 fps triple buffering vsync. With patch 1.7 now it goes from 60 -30 -60 as if triple buffering is not working. Just great.

Also this game has the famous Ubisoft bug where if you don't change the "refresh rate = 60" to "refresh rate = 0" in the gamerprofile.xml it switches to 1080i. This also happened in other Ubisoft games like Rayman Legends and Watchdogs:

http://steamcommunity.com/app/243470/discussions/0/540744934649827373/

I informed them about this and they still have fixed it. So any time I try to fix the triple buffering setting I have to exit the game and edit the gamerprofile file. Also this game crashes if you lock that file whereas Watchdogs lets you lock the file and still change settings which are effective only for that session. Another screw up is that this game makes 2 versions of the gamerprofile file and randomly switches between them. So you have to manage two copies of this file.

This is an old bug that this company could not be bothered to fix for many years.

Right now with this thing not handling triple buffering properly I'm not playing it. People have dealt with this issue and there are all kinds of outlandish solutions out there. Rub a cat's tail twice, then tap your heels three times, press alt-enter, cross your fingers, rub salt on your face, resume game and it might work.

Finally got around to beating this game tonight. Pretty solid open-world FPS, about as solid as they come (although it's not like we get very many open-world FPS games).

When people described Far Cry 4 as "Far Cry 3.5", it concerned me a bit. I still agree that it is very much "Far Cry 3.5"; however, the difference now is that I mean it in the best way possible. It basically just takes the FC3 formula and enhances it. That's all they needed to do, really. And it's a good game. Yeah, it's the same old generic Ubisoft formula, and yeah... there were some hair-pulling glitches here and there. Overall I enjoyed it though.

Great gunplay, beautiful environment, lots of interesting missions and sidemissions, and the XP and crafting add another nice layer of progression to it all. The world is huge and mostly everything was fine-tuned to maximum enjoyment. The storyline wasn't that great, but I did enjoy some of the characters and situations. Not much else to say.

I'm happy to have paid full price for it, but I'm also kind of happy that I've finally beat it so I can move onto something else.

Beat escape from durgesh earlier today. The key is to unlock all your health slots, have plenty of syringes and green leaves, then do the boat mission and head to the extract. I tried it a bunch of ways, but the boat mission gives you a mounted machine gun at the extract that is invaluable.

I was watching a GiantBomb archive video of one of the guys playing FC4 on PC with a PS4 controller, and it caused all kinds of problems. Just about every scripted event broke. And sure enough, the hang glider crashed when he tried it at the first location. When he unplugged the controller it was fine. And eventually he found out he could use the controller and when the scripted event broke, Alt-tab out and back in temporarily fixed it. The videos are long, but for reference they are:

Just picked this game up off E-bay seller (they got it free with a SSD purchase) for pretty cheap - finished the prologue and opened up the first tower- looks great graphically and smooth playing so far. Will have to read up on what type of upgrades to do as I typically play a bow stealth type of guy. I understand there are co-op modes, etc. as well.

sxr7171 - wow really - I will have to try this out - it looked pretty dam good before- if I am at 1080i - then it will really be clean at 1080p.

Loving this game still. I don't play it every day, but when I do I get caught up in it for hours. I had another odd gilder event happen (on PS4) that pissed me off. I was on a glider and was near my destination so I pressed L3 to deploy the wingsuit. I was already on path to hit my destination so I didn't move after dismount, and a couple seconds later I die in mid-air because the glider came down on me. I did it again and turned after dismount and didn't have a problem, but if I stayed on point I would die just because the glider stays on a straight line and loses altitude after you jump off.

I had that exact same glider issue multiple times playing the PC version.
