I hope they tuned up their engine. Far Cry 3 can be a stutter fest and suffers from some pretty visible texture/geometry pop-in at times.

Oh, and more variety to the NPC's this time around will go along way. I got tired of talking too, and shooting, the same exact 3 or 4 people in FC3 over and over again.

The game will be available on both generations of consoles – PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 – along with Windows PC.

Yeah, you can expect that to happen again.

I think its more of a matter of just making the models, not current gen vs last gen. They just need to put the work in like Rockstar did with GTA5.

Looking forward to it, FC3 is one of the best games I've ever played and FC3BD was a hilarious spin-off. I do hope the story and characters going from 3 to 4 aren't too similar; simply seeing the cover art and reading the description it wouldn't be hard for me to envision the Assange lookalike in the pink suit as Vaas/Volker reborn.

Himalayas does seem like a cool setting, I guess in my head Himalayas just makes me think of "snowy mountains" but I hope you're able to explore beyond that.

Far cry 3, people say it looked great but honestly to me it wasn't anything special. I never beat the second or third one because I got so bored a few hours in, the whole game was the same shit over and over.

Given that the PS4 and Xbox One have more power, they will probably either split the engine (or have two engines), one for the PS4/Xbone/PC, and one for Xbox 360/PS3. It's unlikely they would release a game a year into advanced gen consoles and not have the next gen version be significantly upgraded, and since those consoles are basically PC hardware, that should help the PC version as well.

The old days of cross platform games should hopefully be mostly gone. Lots of Wii/X360/PS3 games had vastly different Wii versions due to hardware being crap.

I loved the first two but found the third just meh, good enough to finish but certainly not good enough to replay like the first two. But I imagine I'll buy 4 unless it really, really looks consolly.

Looking forward to this, esp. now that it's on PS4.

I played FC3 so little though and didn't play the others, so would I get lost in the story? If there even is one lol

This. I found it too easy, especially after I silenced my sniper rifle. The hardest part after that was picking a good place to pick people off and figure out the pattern. Also, it was way to damn bright! I preferred when it was night time, but sadly it didn't stay dark very long.:\

FC3 is/was one of my all-time favorites, and believe me I have burnout with many genres. I loved the setting and the freedom to do what I wanted rather than as with many other games having to follow a strict script. Even the story/script was unique/cool as compared to other run-of-the-mill games. LOVED it, so I am looking forward to the next.

Normally I would agree, but I think the bow made it fun. I usually only play Far Cry games for a few hours, but I finished Far Cry 3. I think it was mainly the bow, and taking down outposts without alarms. The story missions sucked, but that Australian rapist was kinda funny, and Vas was bad ass. But overall I really enjoyed the game, despite the main character, his friends, and the story.

Anyways, I look forward to another FC game, but I don't know about the setting for number 4. I think they should have went back to Africa.

I personally wish they would just remake FC2 with FC3's style.

BTW, did you guys know that after you beat the last mission (hoyt) in FC3, the option to reset outposts becomes available? It's only 'all outposts' though.

But it makes the island hostile again, and you have your fully developed character to use.

I just beat it a 3rd time and discovered the option. I had it on the 2nd hardest difficulty, so I reset outposts then changed it to the top difficulty option.

Having two engines would also probably double the development cost. There will be one engine for the game, which will be stripped down to run on the 360/PS3. Unfortunately, this will also keep the XB1/PS4 versions from fully stretching there legs. PC too, but we've really been used to that for years.

I'm curious when publishers will consider the install base of Xbones and PS4s large enough to to drop 360/PS3 titles altogether.

I'm thinking around the same time as when the PS4/XB1 are beginning to pick up their feet in terms of library of games, so around a year and a half or so from now. Would love to see devs spend all their resources on just the next-gen consoles tbh :awe:

That was a minor gripe that I had with FC3 that they did fix with Blood Dragon, the weapons in BD were much better balanced and the Bow was much more attractive to use because it wasn't just "not as good as the silenced sniper". In FC3 once you got the sniper with a silencer on it it was hard to justify using anything else.

Other than your knife that is, I hope they keep the takedowns/melee kills implemented. God those are so fun.

I hope they expand on the take downs. More melee/combat options would be great.

Shittttttt... it'd be kinda cool if you could pick a 1v1 fight and it goes into 2d side scroller mode for a Mortal Kombat showdown =)
