Well i'm still crashing after the prologue...when the game loads to transition...i'm surrendering.

EDIT: I seem to have found the culprit: Razer Synapse...

^I also disabled Synapse for a similar reason. I don't miss it one bit.

Yep same and at the same time I got rid of the Logitech gaming software, unplugged my G510s (and sold it) and replugged my Razer Arctosa 😛

Away with hardware needing softwares to be fully efficient.

I just noticed, in the game manual, that Far Cry 4 dev's credit the engine as "Based on Crytek's Cryengine" instead of the actual name; 'The Dunia Engine'.

When Ubisoft and Crytek parted ways, Ubisoft got the source code to the state of CryEngine at that time, and the Far Cry brand. They used the source code to fork it off into 'The Dunia Engine'.

The Dunia Engine never really got any traction as a brand though, so I wonder if they thought it better to just call the engine what it really is..... 'based on cryengine' rather than the actual name.

You being good on a controller is nothing compared to a competent KB+Mouse user. Controller is just straight inferior. Any sort of shooter with a controller is absolutely dog shit to play. Hell only sports games I absolutely won't use a kb+mouse for. And I still sit close.

I never said controllers were as good as keyboard/mouse. I am saying for a single player game they are good enough. Yes I could play with a keyboard mouse and have high accuracy etc. I am not against keyboard/mouse do not misunderstand me.
I would never play Battlefield 4 with a controller, thats silly but for Far cry 4 with computer Ai I can kill them perfectly fine with a controller.
Thats just me.

So Far Cry 4 is basically Far Cry 3 with snow?
Towers that unlock map chunks
Camp to take
Secrets and hidden items
Skinning but this time the meat can serve to bait animals (which I find cool)

If that doesn't get better I might drop that title and never finish it. Hell I even think I could replay Far Cry 3 again since I liked the environment better.

Hope FC4 gets better and more entertaining...

You can always beat the game in 15 minutes and be done with it.

Spoilers in the linked article.

Well I'm ok with the environment on a 2560x1440 monitor on my system below. Seems playable, which means I haven't done a Fraps-like test yet. All at Ultra with SMAA and HBAO+. Or sometimes turning off AA in game and forcing it on the Radeon video card. The 4xMSAA looks interesting, very nice in some places but way too slow (

Had the game downloaded for a while but just started this weekend, I haven't had any stability issues and only one meaningful bug in about 10 hours of play.

Overall I like it relative to FC3. The grapple, buzzer, elephants/rhinos, new takedown styles, vehicle auto-pilot and more are all wonderful updates to the world/travel/exploration/gameplay.

I could do without the stupid eagles however. And I feel like I'm fending off more wild dogs/wolves/leopards/tigers/bears than ever before. And also
honey badgers!
😀

I actually liked FC3's story though and thought in particular the characters were especially compelling. The angle of "privileged youth tossed into a world gone mad" was interesting especially because of the psychological toll it took on Jason Brody whereas (so far) Ajay seems more apathetic to it all. Admittedly I'm only through not quite 1/3 of the story missions so there's a lot left to do but I'm not feeling it as much as I did in 3.

I think enemy stealth detection has improved to a much more realistic level. It's still not perfect (eg: when I was spotted through a massive tree trunk) but you can't get away with hiding in plain sight behind a tiny shrub either. It definitely makes the game harder and I'm dying more than I expected but it's still an adjustment to the habits I picked up in FC3 and FC3BD. Overall it's a good thing.

So far very pleased with it and having a great time. Got it for free but absolutely would have paid the price of admission.

So can someone enlighten my dumb ass how you throw bait and grenades?

I hit Q to see them but have yet to figure out how to actually use them.

Default keybindings are bait/grenades/molotovs/throwing knives with middle mouse button and you use the mouse wheel itself to scroll through them I believe. Molotovs I like but I don't really use the other stuff very much personally.

The game does have a hell of a lot of buttons to press.

I use them mostly as chaos causing stuff. If you're sneaking around picking people off and cook a grenade and throw it they still wont know where you are but it can cause a ton of chaos in the camp. Also molotovs burn posters, I do that a lot.

Throwing bait is also a good way to attract a predator if you are in their area looking for skins but can't find one.

Initially I had my mouse wheel for weapon switching, but then I couldn't get the throwable items to work using Q, so I gave up and switched everything back to default. They definitely could have done this better.

Do you mean you bound throw to Q or you are selecting the throw "ammo" through the Q menu? I think if you go through the Q menu you might be choosing what you throw with T? I can't say for certain offhand.

In games with more than 2/3 weapons I can't say I like weapon swapping with the wheel, I just stick with 1-4.

No, by default hitting Q brings up weapon selection. Then you click what you want or hit RMB and select other stuff, but it never seemed to stick for anything other than weapons. Using 1-4 would normally be fine, but they don't label the numbers for the different slots, so I always ended up hitting 1, then 2, then 3, then 4, etc. The mouse wheel would have worked better, but then I couldn't select the different throwable items using Q.

i have a question for those of u guys who has this game.
how's the coop?

my brother and i are looking for a good coop game, and going by the youtube reviews, it seems coop is a open sandbox where u can do things together.

I would like a first hand coop experience person tell me if its worth its price in coop, otherwise i would prefer to wait for it to go on sale.

Philosophically speaking, the ending is the best I've ever seen in a shooter. Seriously. The writer should be given a bonus.

Yeah I doublechecked last night, for some reason I thought the base throwable items were available in the Q menu, does not seem to be the case.

I agree that the weapon 'wheel' would really benefit from having some keybinds or slot numbers present. Though you at least really only have to get it set 'once' at least.

It's also a little unclear sometimes to know where/how to progress the story.

Also I think the levelling options in FC3 were more interesting with the three themed trees compared to the two in FC4 and the greater presence/importance of syringes.

A few relatively innocuous flaws however. Still having a grand time.

I accidentally saw it on Twitch, and it was pretty good. I think Bioshock Infinite was better, but it was good.

Yeah, I'm having fun with it too, although I've only just completed act 2 after 30 hours. I've spent most of my time getting the signature weapons I want and gear. Kinda annoying that the shadow was a merchant specific preorder bonus and not something I can unlock. And unlocking the bushman was a pain in the butt. Now that I have the shredder and bushman I finally feel like I can play the game. 😛

Also, the latest FC patch and GF driver update seemed to have fixed the frame rate issues I was seeing.

Guys I am nearly finished with Dragon age Inquisition so ready to start this game - IF , and only if the game is patched to working conditions. Need to know if it is still crashing , failing to launch etc.

Have an i5 2500K with a 290 GPU ( AMD/catalyst ) any issues still with the game or is it functional for PC now?
